  1. They're great (though I eschewed the stamp). - OS
  2. For whatever reason North Korea internet went black today, nada in or out. Coincidence due to their flaky infrastructure?   If BHO did it, he ain't saying.   - OS
  3.   Like on his air guitar? ;)   RIP Joe.   - OS
  4.   Probably not Oscar material, but Rogen has never been involved with anything totally unwatchable IMHO, and I'm an old fogy. :)   - OS
  5.   Could be the gift that keeps on giving if it rips your rotator cuff or something.   - OS
  6.   Wow, I frequent arfcom pistol forum, tons of folks using that setup, first I ever heard of that prob. The brace hadn't been on a different buffer tube first to get stretched out or anything?   Having to glue it on sort of negates a lot of the benefit of the cost of the Hex.   - OS
  7.   You mean, "move forward"? How could it against the Hex tube collar?   - OS
  8. Whatever limitations on actual programming available aside, how do these work with your ISP?   Meaning, how much data are you likely to pull with your internet account, if like me you have a tube going most of the time? Comcast for example only lets you have 250-300 GB/month unless you pay for more.   - OS
  9.   Note I modified my post, I grabbed pistol to check, forgot adjusting windage takes both sets of thumb/forefinger used firmly, so the "easily" wasn't real accurate.   - OS
  10. I've had it on my "basic" pistol for a while now So far, so good. Firm in down or up positions, although it doesn't "lock", meaning there's no release to push.. The peeps click into position well. Windage can be adjusted with just fingers (if your fingers are strong, screwdriver easier). I got it cheaper than that with some package deal or other about 9 months ago, actually bought it before I had occasion to need it. - OS
  11. Had forgotten about this previous thread when I posted last night.. Gordon, you might want to merge my new one into this one?   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/84273-shockwave-blade-approved-but/   Merged I see, thnx.   - OS
  12.   In double action mode, sure.   - OS
  13.   Yep, the crud is self-limiting, in same way you don't need to use giant pipe cleaner on your car's tailpipe. ;)   - OS
  14.   Best way to keep it free flowing is not to mess with it at all. Only exception I know of to even expect a prob with it is if you shot a ton of .22lr with adapter and switched back to .223 and had failure.   - OS
  15. P     Severe overgassing can cause probs for sure, but If working fine last time but not this time, especially with same ammo, likely the opposite, too little gas, something changed.   Is it jamming, stovepiping, or just doesn't move back bolt enough to eject round and pick up another? Also, relatively definitive test -- load single round, fire, does it lock back bolt? Every time?   Pinned A2 gas block or smaller railed or low profile one? If the latter two, possibly it loosened up, maybe have even moved off barrel port. Also check gas key on block carrier for tightness. Who built it? Is gas tube pinned correctly in block?   Gas tube blockage is so rare it's not even on the flow chart for initial diagnoses, unless you shoot a lot of .22lr with adapter.   - OS
  16. Like many topics in this forum, this isn't exactly an NFA issue, but could be, so I'm putting it here. So the Shockwave Blade has been approved for use on a pistol, but ruling letter states "provided the Blade AR Pistol Stabilizer is used as originally designed and NOT used as a shoulder stock." http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/?p=2114 (first page image is mislinked to second when you try to get full size, here is direct link for first page: http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/IMG_1055.jpg ) There will be a court suit to decide this "usage" thing eventually. We now have conflicting ruling letters about the method of the use of a product on a firearm as separate from the mere legality of having it on the firearm. The second ruling on the SIG brace was that "improperly" using it did not change the classification of the firearm. Now we have this and the Black Aces ruling which say usage determines legality, in essence that "improper" use would change the classification of the firearm to an SBR. Never in history of ATF has it attempted to limit how a firearm is utilized, only whether the configuration is legal or not. I suspect anyone charged for illegal usage of a legally configured firearm would not be convicted. But if they were, seems would be stuck down on appeal, and that would be validated by SCOTUS if the feds took it that far. I can see no justification in the USC whatsover to support that kind of stand. There is no difference between this and shooting a stocked weapon from the hip, a handgun with two hands, or the feller who fires his 1911 with his feet, so they could say those behaviors are illegal also. - OS

  18.   All my AR stuff just have standard trigger groups from LPKs. A couple do have Dolomite's set screw mod in them that eliminates takeup, and he did do just a touch of sanding on them to make them smoother, but all still have the standard ~ 5-6 lb pull weight as far as I know.   - OS
  19.   Methinks only us folks over 60 would see 25 years as a "few".  ;)   - OS
  20.   See TBI statement quoted in first post.   - OS
  21.   I don't quite get that, though. I hold on to slide when taking it off, can't exactly see where I'd get "bit".   - OS
  22. How is post 5 not clear? You either have a legal useful purpose for a part or you do not. Here is a perfectly legal assemblege of stuff to be out and about with (lower was first a pistol). Each component can be used in a legal configuration. There is no component for which there is only an illegal use. However, without the 16" barreled upper, you would have "made" an NFA firearm whether you actually assembled the lower, short barreled upper, and stock at same time or not. Yep. Even if you have a pistol buffer tube on your pistol, would be foolish to have a stock with you also with no legal use for it. "Attachable" in federal ruling is not defined. Tape could "attach" it. Perhaps just bracing it against the tube "attaches" it. Whatever. Why poke the bear? Again, if all I owned were an AR pistol, and no rifle barrel in my mix of parts, I wouldn't even own a stock, (or a VFG if my pistol were under 26" legal OAL). - OS
  23. So what's next? Maybe threats against Baptist churches or whatever, see how much more they can disrupt American life with just a few threats. Obviously quite a bit, seems.   - OS
  24. In utilitarian terms a wharncliff lets you get a lot of pressure on some stuff to cut through, think a push or pull cut on loop of rope or whatever, pretty good leverage and the straight blade not as likely to slip off it, while the Bowie style is more optimized for long deep slices. The curved part of the Bowie style makes for smooth slice from base to tip of blade on cut of blade length or continuous long cut on larger expanse.. Of course either will do a decent cuttting job on about anything, But of course a 2" blade ain't gonna finish Big Bad Bubba by stabbing him with it, but they'll slice down through meat much deeper than they will stab through it. They also make the Minimalist in a Tanto, but I don't think as much of it overall. Probably a decent utility knife for various stuff though. - OS
  25.   The Mafia was well on the way to doing just that in the early 50's till Batista was overthrown and Fidel nixed all 'Mericun investment.   - OS
