Constitutional Carry in TN
Oh Shoot replied to shotgunshooter's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, it's also a win-win even if permitless concealed carry were enacted also, as long as they continue the HCP program as it is. Again, all the states that allow both permitless open and concealed carry also offer permits, except for VT. - OS -
Constitutional Carry in TN
Oh Shoot replied to shotgunshooter's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If you reduce the requirements for a permit, you will almost certainly reduce the number of states which honor it. No other state's permit is recognized more widely than the TN one, and you would not want to change that -- defeats the reason for having a permit from a state in which it's not required in the first place. - OS -
Not there, not done that way. They are supposed to send one in mail automatically at about 3 months before current expiration. If you want to do it before that (can do within 6 months of expiration), call their office and they'll send one out to you early. - OS

Constitutional Carry in TN

Of the "total constitutional carry states", only VT does not also issue an optional permit. So presumably that wouldn't present a problem, as long as the TN permit would still be vetted as it is now so that other states wouldn't have reason to no longer honor it. - OS -
Probably the most common is, "it's against federal law to have a gun in a commercial vehicle." - OS
-
Point is, though, that there's no "zero tolerance" or even .04 for a CDL holder driving a private vehicle in TN, it's same as for anyone else. Perhaps different in some states, couldn't say. I suppose just like gun laws, the Feds have no problem with states enacting stricter prohibitions in the matter? - OS

Constitutional Carry in TN

What you probably fail to grok is how securely he has the power to control what legislation gets to his desk, through Beth Harwell and other trusted sycophants. The House Finance Ways and Means committee is literally his personal graveyard for anything he actually opposes, regardless of what he says to the press. - OS- 41 replies

In Nietzche one actually, :) That's what I did with the quote characters that went wonky in a post. Just happened to have noticed it as was re-reading last page of a thread. Still wonder if it's not a FireFox specific interaction, though. The LexisNexis failure just appeared very recently too. - OS
-
So, what is this easy fix? And what in a sig makes it go wonky to begin with? Mine look normal? (it does to me)
-
Using latest FireFox for Winders, 34.0.5, I don't see anything wrong with your sig (or maybe you've "fixed" it, dunno). I did notice one of my posts had the quote marks I had used converted to some weird ASCII or Unicode symbol (wasn't HTML code). I thought is was maybe just something odd with IP Board stuff, "fixed" it by simply editing and retyping the quotes, still shows okay. But may well be something wonky with latest FF, as all of a sudden LexisNexis TN Code doesn't work with it, gives "Content Encoding Error" soon as you accept the terms on opening page. - OS edit: this should probably be moved to Feedback and Support forum

First ones found on Dec 30th, about 30 recovered so far, seems only one has already been released to family. Latest info says that that route was not licensed to be flown on that day. - OS

That a specific TN statute? AFAIK, Federal DOT rules are still: - While in personal vehicle, no separate BAC standards set for CDL holders. If convicted of DUI in any state, 3 year suspension of CDL - While driving commercial vehicle, .04 is presumptive DUI level. Any detectable amount, out of service for 24 hours - OS

Voted "nice to have" as options are generally good. But so far, only have one thang on any of my handguns, and that's a Crimson Trace light on the XD that generally lives neath the mattress, and that doesn't use the rail. - OS
-
Note there is no such presumptive level of .08 for possession of handgun while intoxicated. Oddly, the way the statute has been revised last time, it is no longer a violation to be intoxicated while in possession of a long gun, unless you were also in a public alcohol serving establishment with it. - OS

Yep, been around for 7 or 8 years. YouTube vids: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=10%2F22+gatling+gun - OS

Very tough for Kiwis to own an AK back home. - OS

I'll restart it. Have I iterated my personal stance? (I'd have to re-read thread to see :) :)) : Short of getting a letter addressed to me personally forbidding it, or a public official ruling on ATF site that shouldering a brace on my AR or AK pistol is unlawful period, I'll continue to fire mine as I please. I maintain I have no illegal SBRs in my possession. - OS

It's almost axiomatic that once a thread exceeds three pages, any new poster will not have read it all. :) - OS

Not ATF rule, SCOTUS interpretation of law in USC. Before that, ATF interpreted law to "ever a rifle, must stay a rifle". This issue, along with "possessive construction" issues, are actually significantly more relaxed now than before 1992. The blame of having to interpret such law at all of course goes all the way back the NFA of 1934. - OS

One minor question just got answered in a new letter just saw to Thordsen regarding their cheek rest thang: "...Firearms Technology Industry Services Branch (FTISB), formally Firearms Technology Branch (FTB)..." Signed by the "newest acting chief" Michael Curtis. So a rearrangement within the bureaucracy, and seems Earl Griffith is out of the picture in whatever way in that branch now, and Max is where ever else too. - OS

A lot of UTG stuff has really come up to snuff in the last years. I've got some decent cases, QD riser stuff, AK side mount rails, high rise scope rings, dunno what all on various guns, all been fine. - OS
