2nd. Amendment Tax Free Holiday in Tennessee.
Oh Shoot replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, it's just a stunt. Wouldn't mind it, but I imagine no chance to pass. Then again, wouldn't have thought we'd be the Patron State of Eating Roadkill either. ;) - OS -
Certainly 18 year old and up, no diff, long gun or handgun. Possession of handgun by a minor is very limited period. - OS

I've had a few calls from Blue Cross/Blue Shield partners that are legit, but couldn't understand the "accent" either, which I'm pretty sure was just UAUB*, though. * Uneducated American Urban Black - OS

D.C. Issues First Carry Permits
Oh Shoot replied to analog_kidd's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I thought the Kali "shall issue" hubbub (Peruta vs San Diego County) would be the case that made it up to SCOTUS first, but future status is unclear right now. - OS -
MonkeyLizard explained it pretty well. Simply that no local government may enact a more stringent or lax weapons law than a state one. Your beef about park carry still lies with state law, but not because of lack of preemption. Even the grandfathered law exception is gone. - OS
-
Already have that. Knife law, too. - OS

Yeah, I do all my ARs at 50 yard zero. Works fine for that, same spread as anything else I have up to 200 yards at least, the farthest I ever have got to shoot them. I suppose the original issue scopes for the AR15 must have been done same way or seems they would likely have been way off at 100 yards and more. I believe this was first military scope issued for the original AR, a Colt branded 3x20 ? - OS

Hammer falling during function check.

Gotcha, I overlooked you said in very first post you got it new, oopsie. - OS -
Hammer falling during function check.
Oh Shoot replied to 94user's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Ya know, if the hammer replacement doesn't fix it, I guess there's still the possibility that someone tried to polish the front of the trigger sear where it engages notch in bottom of hammer, and removed too much metal. Which is to say if the hammer doesn't fix it, might need trigger also. Could be both were dinked with, as Dolo mentioned. - OS -
Yeah, I did one of mine with carry handle, just for the older look mainly. Then later even added a cheap 4x scope to mimic the first AR GI scope setup too. See through handle mount, can use irons without removing scope. Completely non-optimum, scope too high, added quick clip stock riser to compensate for cheek weld. All for no real practical reason, but works fine -- the joy of having different ones to toy with, eh? - OS

Is it named the Leonard Embody Act? - OS -
"Almost 50" is more accurate! - OS

Hammer falling during function check.
Oh Shoot replied to 94user's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Easily check that, just back out grip screw, but hold grip in place to hold selector spring/detente. edit: okay, then eliminates that I guess. -

Yow, that's half the price of a whole LPK! Ask in Trading Post if nobody bites here. - OS -
Hammer falling during function check.
Oh Shoot replied to 94user's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I honestly can't think of anything else unless something like the pin holes being gouged out so much that pins are not holding trigger/hammer contact together firmly, which I'm sure ain't the case here with a new gun. Dolo, any further ideas? Maybe somebody will send you a spare hammer to test. I would if I had one. - OS -

Oh Shoot replied to 94user's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
This your only AR? It's a hassle, but you could swap out hammers to test. Gotta be hammer or trigger but can't think of anything in trigger that would allow it to function at all but still be out of whack enough to cause this. - OS -
Hammer falling during function check.
Oh Shoot replied to 94user's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Bizarro. Are you sure hammer spring is correct, and seated correctly with legs over trigger pin? If all else looks fine, don't know that to think except maybe hammer engaging surface isn't in spec? - OS -
Pretty sure yes, best I remember a question about both parts of the DUI thang. Doesn't matter if they do or not, they'll find them, the check is quite thorough, so tell the truth. - OS
-
Indeed, it is not still correct. Changed last session. Anyone not prohibited from owning firearms may have any firearm in any condition in private vehicle. - OS
-
Sorry but that's incorrect. As per your quote above, there are two conditions: Condition 1: 2 or more DUIs in last 10 years Condition 2: At least one DUI in last five years. The "and" is important - both conditions must be met to deny HCP. Two or more DUI convictions in last 10 years, each over 5 years from date of application is not a disqualifying situation. Here's real world proof, for any doubters: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/59670-ccw-questions/ I also had a second example thread bookmarked, but have misplaced it. - OS

New Twist in the SIG Brace Debate
Oh Shoot replied to btq96r's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
While I seldom use TTAG as an example of accurate and unbiased journalism since the guy has a way of "selective reporting", this little second hand snippet from SHOT show is nonetheless interesting: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/01/foghorn/atf-change-minds-brace-people-kept-sending-letters/ - OS -
What's the deal with TN Firearms Association?
Oh Shoot replied to ron86654's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yep, me too. I do TFA, KnifeRights, and NRA. Orgs that attack on the state level are very important indeed. TFA has been a perennial burr under the saddles of the libs and pseudo conservatives in Nashville, and no doubt at least partially responsible for every gun carry freedom we've so far obtained. KnifeRights got us from felony and class A misdemeanors to state preempted free knife carry in two years. Even though many groused that they had somehow copped out the first year. - OS
