Never seem to have found exact overall explanation on this and have wondered.   Like the SS109/M855 round:   Seems "M855" is NATO designation? Or just US Military one?   And what does the "SS" designation mean as opposed to that? Does it just describe the bullet? Single, seems in AR pistol world, most have gone over to the Thordsen for the cheek rest thang, either the rest alone or more popular the whole kit with custom buffer tube.   They also make an adapter kit to mount the CAA side saddle nicely, if you do want to stay with that, so you don't have to use any of the various jury rigged methods folks have.   - OS
