  1.   Was it a grassy knoll? :tinfoil:   - OS
  2.   No, no ... didn't mean to impugn you, just thought maybe you had round counts mixed up or something.   Seems some variance in pricing from other thread, wondering if this isn't an unannounced "intro price" just in some stores or some such?   I mean, for example no where can one get .223 of any kind right now for under .20/round even buying by the pallet, and even Wally's Russian stuff hasn't been the cheapest available for some time.   Thanks for the report, and again certainly didn't mean to offend you.   - OS
  3. No unkindness meant, but assuming that's you in your avatar pic, you seem to perhaps be like me, as in, um,  not exactly svelte. ;)   Which is to say that stability and comfort with IWB carry is partially dependent on just where your britches/belt ride in relation to "waist" vs "belly". Let me know if you find an easier solution than what I really should do. :)   - OS
  4.   They've obviously started this just very recently maybe only last couple weeks even. And/or maybe not every DMV is set for it yet. And has it been incorporated into the mail in renewals yet? (no reports of it yet AFAIK). Who knows.   At any rate, it's obvious that soon the next time everyone renews their HCP,  it will be for whatever number of years such that it hits on your DL renewal date after that.   They'll have to do that on mine in '16. My DL expires in '18, but I don't see a 2 year option in the HCP fee schedule, so guess I'll get the 7 year term. Hope I live long enough to get on the regular new schedule!   One thing nobody has mentioned is that this is gonna cost more out of pocket in a short period of time doing both the HCP and DL rather than their being staggered in renewal times.   - OS
  5.   All that said, betcha a quarter he runs for Senate. Unless the right magic happened and he gets a chance for the presidency. You gotta know the latter is Big Jim's Big Dream for him and gawd knows how many bucks he's spent in one way or another just to help get him to where he is now.   - OS
  6.   You don't have to be gung ho pro gun in to be elected Mayor, Governor, or Senator in this state. Or President of the US. Plus maybe on the health thing he's thinking that's a fine platform for his future too -- the man with vision who saves health care.   The cat doesn't even take his salary. What allure could attracting more money be, if not to foment power for office?   - OS
  7.   Yeah, oops, I mean '20. We can assume Bob will run again and Bill wouldn't challenge that,  but Lamar will almost certainly retire. Gives Bill a year or so to gear up after leaving office before announcing, plus Lamar will endorse him unless some kind of falling out occurs in the interim. I'd wager that fix is already in.   - OS
  8.   The BrassMaxx, at least the 9mm, was originally or later from Italy (not sure of the timing -- I still have a box), also widely reported to have been Fiocchi.   - OS
  9.   My, how time flies.   Looks like it was 8/4/11 to be precise, so about 3.6 years:   http://www.keltecweapons.com/news/warranty-update-second-owner-responsibilities/   - OS
  10. I went that route myself:
  11. C'mon, no way any of those prices can be for 50 rounds.   - OS   edit: well, hell, maybe it is?   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/83566-tula-perfecta-ammo/#entry1249858   .13/round for 9mm? .17/round for .223? And brass to boot? Even after tax + a dime that's amazing right now.   Mea culpa, still seems like Twilight Zone though. :)   - OS
  12. Also, as of about a year ago,  they won't fix anything under warranty except for the original purchaser.   - OS
  13.   Me three. I can easily separate the art from the artist, have all my life. Otherwise, you miss out on some very fine stuff in all areas of the arts.   And yep, that even includes Hanoi Jane -- she's done some very fine movies indeed.   - OS
  14.   In Nooga, try Kacey's on Lee Highway. Country buffet, far as I know chicken livers are on menu every day.   - OS
  15. Only a minority of press coverage seems to understand one can access any number of email accounts with any net connected device.   - OS
  16. Fee still the same per 4 year period, but they are starting to pro-rate it to achieve the change in 39-17-1352 during last session, as the page you reference sort of explains. From the revised statute:   "[Effective January 1, 2016 or earlier, see Compiler's note]    (3) Notwithstanding this subsection (n), every handgun carry permit issued or renewed by the department on or after the effective date of this subdivision (n)(3), shall be issued for a period of five (5) years and shall expire on the permit holder's birth date. The commissioner shall issue an initial permit or permit renewal for three (3) to seven (7) years, whichever number is necessary to ensure that the permit will expire on each subsequent birth date of the permit holder that is divisible by five (5). It is the intent of this subdivision (n)(3) that after the initial renewal, the renewal date for persons who have both a handgun carry permit and a driver license be the same date. The fee for any original permit and any permit renewal due under this section for a permit issued or renewed on or after the implementation of this act shall be prorated to reflect the appropriate fee for a renewal cycle of greater or lesser length than five (5) years."   - OS
  17.   And he's a shoo-in for Lamar's seat in '18.   - OS
  18.   All I know from the track record is, once a Bill-disfavored-bill hits that committee, it doesn't come out.   - OS
  19. How is the House bill going to survive the usual graveyard, the House Finance Ways and Means Committee?   It's there now.  Can't find exact text right off, and thought was written with no mandate to change signage, but it is now claimed there is fiscal burden due to signage changes?   http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/109/Fiscal/HB0995.pdf   - OS
  20. I never get in these Ebola pools. Regular full size pool water is plenty risky enough I think.   - OS
  21.   Plus, according to 39-17-1352, mandatory suspension or revocation of the HCP.   - OS
  22.   Even if not, if it has a smooth barrel would be an AOW. Also, smooth or rifled, seems it would have to be granted a "sporting use" exemption or would be a DD.   - OS

  24.   DawgDoc's paste is exactly right.   "Firearm" means just that, any firearm. No conditions about loaded/unloaded/concealed/in sight/one in chamber, whatever.   The "without one in the chamber" was in regard to previous part of the statute regarding long gun carry in vehicles by permit holders only, and was zapped when this change was made during last term's legislature.   Note that this is an exception to any charges for 1307 only however. It is not an authorization to possess in any public or private parking area, as is 1313 (which still requires a permit).   - OS
  25. From the horse(ass)'s mouth: http://www.atf.gov/press/releases/2015-03-021015-advisory-notice-those-commenting-armor-piercing-ammunition-exemption-framework.html Of course, this still doesn't mean they won't slam the door shut at some point, but seems to put it more into a time frame limbo at the least. - OS
