Traveling across state lines with NFA items?
Oh Shoot replied to Luke E.'s topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
As long as you don't also have a compatible short barrel along with you at all. As long as you are "in control" of parts retained to make it a SBR means it's not removed from NSA purview. I know you know that, btw. ;) - OS -
Traveling across state lines with NFA items?
Oh Shoot replied to Luke E.'s topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
If transported according to FOPA, firearms only have to be legal in the state of your destination. As for 5320.20, if you plan to use the firearm in AZ, do you have to list every state you'll be passing through to get there? - OS -
WATE TV just reported it died in whichever committee today. - OS

Always have been, only subject to blade length in the past. - OS -

I'd say that even though it has a blade, it also clearly fits definition of a "club", so IMO, no. - OS -
Firearms issue bills for this session.
Oh Shoot replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sure is. you can walk 1 foot from school property on a public sidewalk openly carrying an AR or AK pistol. But face a Class A 'meanor walking on the other side of an 6 or 8 lane road from a school carrying any of the other stuff. Likely not much of an issue in real world situations, but just seems a stupid and unnecessary addition to the law. Must be it's viewed as a namby-pamby sop for the it's-for-the-children handwringers or something - much like the inclusion of adding the additional charge of using a switchblade in a crime when they removed it from the prohibited weapons statute. I guess the Society for Creative Anachronism folks would be most at risk, although for example longbows and crossbows, things that could actually be lethal from 150', aren't mentioned, further highlighting the absurdity of any real logical intent the thing might have. - OS -
Is it difficult to hunt with an AR pistol? (300 blackout)

That went away several years ago. You can go after bear with a .25 mousegun. Evens the odds up some I reckon. ;) - OS -
HB118/SB142: Current "parking lot" legislation
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Dunno why lit up as new, your #219 is what resurrected it. - OS -
Does fine, daily carry for maybe 5 years now. Flat yes, but thin. It's okay even with dress pants, long as they aren't skin tight - OS

TN knife carry law(s) /regulation(s)
Oh Shoot replied to bucnball's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Totally agree of course. I was pretty sure that at least the first version of the knife carry bill had zapped that particular item in 1302, was surprised when it was still there after compilation of the statute. - OS -

?? Only NFA restriction I see in regard to hunting is the nix on full auto: http://www.tn.gov/twra/huntweapons.html edit: according to this thread, they did indeed used to not be approved, but that changed during the 2009-2010 season. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/39190-nfa-sbr-for-a-deer-hunt/#entry648080 - OS -

TN knife carry law(s) /regulation(s)
Oh Shoot replied to bucnball's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Well, dunno how definitive his interpretation is. Like many other laws, perhaps time will tell with case law. 39-17-1302 still has ban on "Any other implement for infliction of serious bodily injury or death that has no common lawful purpose". Certainly it's not altogether an unreasonable argument that a sword fits that definition, all hinging on the word "common"? Also, when we say "any" knife, note that knuckles are still illegal here, so seems pretty certain you could still be stung for a trench or fantasy type knife with built-in knuckles or spikes or whatever. - OS -
Yeah seemed clear to me she was talking about Riggs early on in the production, that he "made the cut" as an actor so could be counted on to be included in the cast ongoing. - OS

TN knife carry law(s) /regulation(s)
Oh Shoot replied to bucnball's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
AFAIK, we now have only two knife laws: - no knives on school property, essentially period - use of switchblade in a crime is an additional charge. So use a Bowie or something to knock over a gas station, minimize the counts It remains gray as to whether knives are indeed even relevant under the no carry sign prohibitions, as far as criminal penalty. - OS -
Those are just archaic local laws from various places around the state I guess. Although it's illegal to transport any wildlife around as per state law. - OS

Tennessee DTP Reform Passed the Senate 30-3 Today!
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
What does "DTP" refer to regarding the effort? edit: nm, see it is Defense To Prosecution, sorta already knew but sorta forgot I guess. - OS -
Maybe if one of them wants out in real life and can contractually do it -- otherwise, would think the risk of losing viewers is too great to snuff any of the four. Especially Daryl, although he's the likeliest one to want to leave I would think, already being established as "movie star". Can actually see Rick being the sacrifice really. Maybe showing his ass this drastically is the lead in and justification. He may also now have enough offers in the real world of the biz to want out too, assuming he contractually can. - OS

Yep, that's the one. - OS

Is it difficult to hunt with an AR pistol? (300 blackout)
Oh Shoot replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Long Guns
I've never had occasion to shoot a .300blk laid alongside cheek like this, but from my limited experience shooting various loads against shoulder, I get the impression that the hottest AAC loads might be about 20% more kick tops than NATO spec 5.56, but nothing that would be so drastic as to make it impractical. Hopefully those with more experience with the round will chime in on that comparison. - OS -

Mad Max et al have not responded to that exact question, so far. Since a pistol with a brace is a perfectly lawful configuration, but he claims usage determines classification, I don't see why he wouldn't have the same opinion regarding a pistol without a brace, so who knows. At least with traditional 5.56 pistols, I'd say as many have traditionally shot them with buffer tube laid alongside cheek as 3rd point of contact as against shoulder. I have one I still shoot this way myself: - OS -
NFA considerations aside, a handgun has certain legal advantages over a long gun in any number of states -- that's a significant contributory reason for their popularity. Until last summer there were two big ones in TN, now just one. - OS

I guess one of the full circles is that Rick has pretty much turned into Shane, right down to killing for his piece of married tail. - OS
