I humor mom and attend about 6 times a year with her in Nooga. Always have the mighty Kahr in the pocket when I do, just like any other time. - OS

In 7 years here, have never seen one mention of any church posting on TGO, or any other forum. I think even if the powers that be in any given church would prefer you didn't, the very presence of such an official sign is considered too "unchurchly", and perhaps even a bit scary, and that it's best that the majority of the flock remains unruffled sheep. :) - OS

Pursuant to my previous post regarding his knife, was mentioned today it was legal, even though one of the cops swore under oath it was an illegal switchblade. Although this doesn't seem to have figured into the chase and arrest itself anyway, only found after the fact. - OS

Wait and see if most don't squeal to implicate just one or two of them. Probably why they charged them all, to get them to talk. - OS

??? CCI MiniMags are about as dimensionally and charge consistent a round you're likely to get in mainstream .22LR, sort of the standard one uses for diagnosing problems really -- how can it be bad but cheap bulk ones are okay? Sure you don't mean CCI Stinger? Ruger says you shouldn't use it in their target barrels either. CCI Velocitor can be problematic in some precise chambers also. - OS

Hell, he's only facing same penalty as you or me knowingly selling one of our own guns to an out of state resident. If yer gonna cheat, might as well go big I guess. :) - OS

Regrettably, that is no longer always the case with new ones out of the box. - OS

Home Defense Shotgun - What is your take
Oh Shoot replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Only in one way IMO -- once charged all you have to do is keep pulling the trigger for 30 shots. - OS -
I know, was just echoing your oft posted sentiment. But I really do too. - OS

I really hate that guy. ;) - OS

People of color make up a much higher percentage of the prison population per capita than whites. Is that due to "profiling" and "racism", or just a reflection of the fact that they indeed do commit a disproportionate percentage of the crime? If so, then obviously our prison population should at least double, so that white crime is more realistically reflected? Or that black/Hispanic crime should go unenforced to match the rate of non-enforcement of white crime? Muslims are reported to commit a much higher rate of domestic and worldwide terrorism than all the other religions combined. Is that a reflection of the bias of both the US and the rest of the world? Just suggesting that perhaps not all seemingly "racist" disproportionate stats are necessarily thus. The history of "how we got here" is another discussion entirely. - OS edit: wow, virtual echo of your post, JAB. I got the "new post" while typing, but didn't take time to read it before posting.

Environmental economics .. just too many people overall, so you start to see the crunch where supply/demand used to be only adequate at best for both populous and agriculture with normal rainfall. Doesn't take much in the way of normal weather ups and downs to hit criticality. Whole Ogallala Aquifer that supplies the Great Plains will of course fizzle too, being over-driven at a scary rate. And that's over huge expanse where for the most part the population is quite low. But of course they're producing for the rest of us, so we all count in the overall equation of homo sapiens/resources no matter where we are. - OS

Not much to it. Here are some vids, each longer than it needs to be. https://www.google.com/search?q=change+10%2F22+extractor&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=change+10/22+extractor&newwindow=1&tbm=vid Single overall best thing one can do a Ruger factory 10/22, dunno what's the story on your MR one though. - OS

No, full profile "straight" barrel or whatever the official term is for it. - OS

Will become one of the greatest sports trivia questions of all time:

Wow. After postponing two games, the Orioles are gonna play tomorrow, but with no fans allowed in stadium! That surely must be a first for MLB, playing a game that's closed to the public? - OS

Our Idiots: TN DL Extended Past HCP
Oh Shoot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Bizarre. How many years was it for? -
Need help keeping an eye out for something
Oh Shoot replied to Luke E.'s topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Wonder what that "additional something" is? I can find nothing beyond the 01 FFL is needed. From link below: "Generally, a person engaged in gunsmithing requires only a dealer’s license (type 01)." There is a threshold you could cross where you needed a manufacturing license of course: https://www.atf.gov/content/may-person-engage-gunsmithing-under-dealer%E2%80%99s-license-type-01-or-do-gunsmiths-need-be - OS -
Didn't watch the vid, but that barrel was 1:8. The real mystery was how S&W's best barrel ever got on their cheapest AR in the first place. - OS

Our Idiots: TN DL Extended Past HCP
Oh Shoot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Who knows what they'll start doing now. Website info still shows the 5 year thing. Well, actually, that's still the law of course, they didn't change it to match the DL change. - OS -
Yeah, I consider Kershaw's PRC line is one of the best values in knifedom. - OS

The company is Camillus. It was American, goes back to 1876, started with importing German made knives, then made its own, went out in 2007. Was a competitor of Buck, but yes, also a collaborator on certain knives. Acme International bought the Camillus holdings in bankrupt auction in 2009, cranked up the brand again. American company, but most if not all now made in China. They've got a Les Stroud line these days among other stuff. http://www.camillusknives.com/ Buck's Chinese made blades are supposedly made in a Buck owned plant somewhere in China, but they've played that pretty close to the vest as to location and exact arrangement. Camillus is perhaps most famous for developing the official military issue US Mark 2 Combat knife, which of course was later made by several companies and of course KA-BAR in very similar form to this day. Here are beau coup BladeForum threads on the Buck 307: https://www.google.com/search?q=307+buck+knifes&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=307+buck+knives+site:www.bladeforums.com&newwindow=1 I carry a Buck Stockman 301. In Delrin yellow, though, which they've discontinued. Without my having to read up on it :), what's the big deal about the 307 compared to 301? - OS

I suppose they could report to GA and ask them to do it. Note that of course however TN statute only can only legally apply to TN HCPs, as it states. - OS
-
All good points, and I didn't mean to equate the federal and state statues as in any way equal. Just showing how a dichotomy can exist like that, and TN is likely to be able to create one though case law, especially if a powerful county can judge shop for it or whatever. And yes, I've often used the carry in federal buildings statute to contrast with 1359 when the "is this posting legal" discussions arise. Meaning, 1359 does NOT say that you NOT culpable for non-confirming signage, while the federal statute does indeed specifically say that. - OS
