  1.   That was two years ago, ya know. Judge dismissed charges.   However, there is indeed some recent news regarding it, as the Mom is suing the school:   http://www.wdtv.com/wdtv.cfm?func=view&section=5-News&item=Mother-Suing-School-Over-Sons-NRA-T-shirt-Suspension-23112     - OS
  2. oopsie, double tap
  3. Find a round rail and get somebody to cut to length and hack out the ends for ya. Adze (or adz) is he traditional tool for making this style rail. - OS
  4. If any of these places are to be claimed as no longer for "recreation", then they need to pay everyone who frequents them, as they must then be obviously at "work".   - OS
  5.   Nonetheless, helpful to actually at least glance thorugh it -- (post 17). ;)   - OS
  6. Well, too bad Kwik doesn't have a carry permit any more, perfect venue for him to open carry.   - OS
  7.   Yep. I use it 6 weeks out of the year at Mom's. It's either that or pay for monthly broadband to sit idle for the other 44. Or go with smartphone with data plan, which I also don't really care about having in general either.   It does cost me 83.40 a year to keep the NetScape dialup service, though.   - OS
  8.   Right. So far she seems to have been a totally random victim, which is chilling. She had just left work at a nearby massage spa and gone there to presumably walk or run, seems.   - OS
  9.   I'm afraid you have that backwards when it comes to firearm laws here.   TN starts out with the premise in 39-17-1307 that it's illegal to possess a loaded firearm, period. Then adds a litany of defenses, affirmative defenses, and exceptions which allow one to deviate from that.   Most states do indeed start with the "all is legal" except for this and that and the other thing, and TN does also with many areas of the code, but not loaded firearms. That's one of the reasons we've had such a problem prying firearm freedoms back I do believe, because of that philosophical mindset that's been there since the late 1800's, that all was because of Jim Crow legislation to begin with, and got into our very state Constitution.   Note that having an HCP is still technically only a "defense" to 1307, not even an "exception". Hell, even the long time coming possession in vehicles is now stronger, as it is an "exception".   - OS
  10.   Well, actually that won't be updated till probably Sept at the earliest and November at the latest, varies year to year.   - OS
  11.   That's what "everybody" said about his reelection bid in '12, too.   - OS
  12.   Having compelling roles in a number of very fine films, Jane Fonda has redeeming qualities that Hillary doesn't.   - OS
  13.   Try one to Nashville Zoo also:   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/87494-nashville-zoo/page-2#entry1264932   (and forward)   - OS
  14.   Yes. Gift or sale same, even between relatives, it is a transfer. Ironically, the much despised Manchin-Toomey Act would have exempted this, very liberal no-background checks for all kinds of extended relatives and even in-laws best I remember.     Interstate succession is an exception in 18 USC 922. Even without a will, as I understand it:   "...the transfer, transportation, or delivery of a firearm made to carry out a bequest of a firearm to, or an acquisition by intestate succession of a firearm by, a person who is permitted to acquire or possess a firearm under the laws of the State of his residence"     also: "... the loan or rental of a firearm to any person for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes"   - OS
  15. I'm 6'2", 225 lbs. and wear mostly loose cargo shorts and long pants with pretty large pockets, and my Kahr PM9 is the max size I would consider pocket carrying, and of course it's significantly smaller than any of the three you mention.   And I find even a J Frame as uncomfy by comparison in pocket, due to the fat width of the cylinder.   - OS
  16.   Well, to be precise, both must be same state residents (actually, that the seller has no reason to believe otherwise) and sale must occur in that state for it to be legal for both seller and buyer (buyer can not bring into state of his residence a firearm obtained in private transaction in another state period).   - OS
  17. Crap, meant to edit, not quote
  18. I concur, and revise my taxonomic opinion :). I only saw the last of the 3 pix when I responded (was on dialup), just assumed it was the same ole that I see all the time, and especially regarding the mention of huge size (Cicada Killer generally bigger). And now that I think back, it was indeed almost certainly a European that drilled my spousal unit at the time, as you have to pretty much grab a Cicada Killer in your hands and shake it to get it to sting. Mea culpa. Cicada killer: European hornet: Compared: The bad news is you probably have a bunch more of them around. - OS
  19.   Those were almost certainly hornets. The cicada killer is a solitary type.   - OS
  20.   Yep, that's it, cicada killer, a solitary wasp quite common in E TN at least, seen them all my life. My wife got zapped by one on hand while doing carpentry many years ago, arm kept swelling up higher and higher, but she was somewhat allergic to stings in general. Told her if swelling got above the elbow we were going to ER but it stopped below it. She said sting didn't seem to hurt any more than those common big reddish wasps.     Yeah, the red and black velvet ant is known as the "cow killer". Also quite common in E.TN, seen them all my life too. Males look similar, but are winged.   - OS
  21.     Just a note -- no federal license required to sell small arms ammo.   - OS
  22.   ?? A business posted under 39-17-1359 carries the force of law, with criminal penalty for violation.   Is Memphis saying that this venue will be posted under 1359?   - OS
  23. Yow ...sounds like best possible reversal of fortune from a dire circumstance ... here's wishing you a complete and lasting recovery!   - OS
  24.   Nooga Academy in Brainerd had some today matter of fact, in the special area behind the first register.   - OS
