Texans Can Open Carry Now .. with permit
Oh Shoot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Original is $140 for 4 years, but seems that includes the qualification course? If so, would make it cheaper than ours by a good bit in most cases, even with the $10 they charge for fingerprinting. Renewal only $7.50 more than ours, $70 for 5 years. No, that changed couple years ago, no longer required. https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/RSD/CHL/Legal/newlegislation.htm - OS -
I'm shocked. Is this the first gun than is younger than yourself? - OS

Texans Can Open Carry Now .. with permit
Oh Shoot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Won't stop the AR carrying activists though -- the goal is non-permitted carry, same as exists with long guns there, one thing Texas has going for it that we don't. - OS -
Just like our parks bill, this one went into conference committee, and finally was passed. One sticking point was stripped, the amendment that would have barred LE from checking permits based only on seeing a gun on the person. So, looks like Texans have same situation as our open carry here now, or will, as this takes effect first of the year. The delay was put in for time to educate both LE and revise permit training and whatnot. http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/05/29/its-official-texas-legislature-passes-open-carry/ - OS

I think it's like a cheap fishing lure designed to catch fishermen. If it worked, it would be raved about all over the gun forums. - OS

I need honest opinion related to HCP Class
Oh Shoot replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in Women's Perspectives
Yes, it did. With no change to the HCP statute. So all the juggling around on HCP for the five year period to coincide with DL is really for naught. But since statute wasn't changed, they have to keep doing it. Yes, idiotic. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB0209&GA=109 - OS -
I'm frankly amazed that most folks don't have a wreck of some sort every 100 miles or so, ever more so daily as traffic increases across the country through the years. I guess that's a mostly a testament to the autonomic reflex system of the humanoid and the superior mechanics of the machine. As far as turn signals, now that I'm an official geezer and all, I guess I'm allowed to just keep one on all the time, right? - OS

An Interesting Question. What If...
Oh Shoot replied to WindHawk's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Knute Rockne, All American, and Kings Row were his best, the rest pretty much downhill from those. - OS -
After looking at profile, yup. Could even leave it "in" cycle on school property and posted lots, assuming the risk of theft of course. - OS

Even a thumbhole stock is one of the "assault weapon" features in NY and Kali, maybe in some of the other commie states too. - OS
-
It's a motor vehicle under 55-1-103. You are allowed to have firearms "in" it under 39-17-1307, so inside a storage container of any kind seems clearly legit. 39-17-1313 (requires permit) is also clear that firearm can be locked "in container securely affixed to such motor vehicle". So without a permit, seems only possible violation would be having a handgun or long gun on your person, or a long gun "on" but not "in" the bike. Of course, the long gun wouldn't be legit even with a permit (talking loaded ones here in all cases, of course). - OS

Similarly, though switchblades are now completely legit, it is still a separate felony to use one in commission of a "dangerous offense". - OS

I do believe that refers to Stingers. CCI MiniMags are exactly within standard .22LR dimensions for both casing and bullet. There's nothing "mag" about them, it's just a name. Matter of fact they are pretty much "the" standard round in consistency for trouble shooting. Ruger also advises not to shoot Stingers in their .22 target barrels. CCI Velocitors can be problematic in some chambers also -- though they are standard OAL in both casing and bullet, the driving band on the bullet is set farther forward. - OS

Doesn't matter what "she said" regarding this particular subject. Look at policy. Maybe you don't need more than $2500 for valuable items, but that's gonna be your limit if all your guns get stolen or melted. Also your diamond studded piercings and those Picassos on your wall. ;) Your car, boat, and normal household items have nothing to do with the separate special valuable items categories on a homeowners or rental policy. It's possible that their blanket payment formula for normal household contents would be enough to "cover" them depending on what you actually owned under the standard coverage, but claiming them specifically past the $2500 limit wouldn't be approved. - OS

Actually, seems like mine had all the valuable items categories lumped into a $2500 total, but can't say for sure and have tossed the policy so can't check the wording. Reason I fell in with SAFECO, was that State Farm messed up my separate valuable items policy; I gave them revised gun list for it, and the underwriters added them all again instead of just replacing whole list, so suddenly premium went way up. And my local agents simply couldn't (or wouldn't) get it fixed. Agents said don't pay the premium that was due until fixed, home office kept sending me cancellation notices, and then they did cancel it. Then local agents didn't really want to write another one, etc, just a total SNAFUBAR at that point. I finally just nuked everything I had with them, and had actually had State Farm car insurance since I started driving at 16, too! Anyway, TIS, a big independent agency here, got me fixed up with two cars and renter's for less than I was paying with SF, and with better coverage too, not even counting the extra I was paying for the valuable items policy, which was no longer necessary. Whole thing took about an hour. Gal who did the policies already knew SAFECO was "gun friendly", so she compared them right off the bat for my needs. Anyway, I do supply them with a list of them all, update via email now and then, no probs at all. So I say again, anyone with a significant gun collection should look into SAFECO. - OS

I had State Farm renters policy for many years until I switched about a year and a half ago. You've posted this before, and I suggested you read your actual full length policy. I suggest the same again, as I do believe you'll find the $2500 or so on "valuable items" clause, which address jewelry, art, collectibles, firearms, and such. Mine certainly did, and I had no way to raise those limits except taking out a separate valuable items policy. Not limited to renter's policy either, their full homeowners policies are the same. - OS
-
One word: SAFECO. Firearms are in the overall coverage, no separate valuable items policy required past the $2500 or so that most policies only cover. - OS

I see writeups stating "two triggers permanently joined". - OS

Just a note: you know it tells number and also who is in chat at bottom of main page, right? - OS

And a rear sight. And a mag and ammo. :) - OS

Barton, Very Old : One of the top choices if you drink a LOT and don't have deep pockets. Ask me how I know. ;) From Wiki: "On February 16, 2011, Very Old Barton 100 proof tied with Evan Williams "Black Label" as "Best Buy Whisk(e)y of the Year" in the 17th Annual Whisky Advocate Whisky Awards." I guess second place went to rubbing alcohol or something. And yeah, ole Evan was another low down top choice, too! - OS

Ok, gotcha. Indeed, if that is the only instruction that came with it, bad on Comcast. Here's how (link at end). Note in video, claims computer will connect with activation site when opened. Won't if you have blank homepage as default, have to try to surf somewhere. And one of the three I installed, I still had to go the activation site manually by entering URL. So even it is a bit incomplete for all possibilities. Note that all lights on modem have to come on steady before doing it, and also note it shows phone light also comes on, but as far as I know, that is wrong, phone light won't come on until activated, so that's another little glitch in the instruction if I'm remembering it correctly. And yes, it is completely possible that the modem is not functioning correctly, but that's actually relatively rare. The only reason I ever changed them out was to go through the drill before getting a service call (always used my own), and the only reason I went to a VOIP capable one which I have now was to get a better deal on package. Hell, the only thing I ever do with the phone is call my cell once in a great while when I can't find it. :) http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/phone/self-install-xfinity-internet-voice - OS
