  1.   Hillary ain't gonna put him in her cabinet. :)   Even if GOP wins, I can't see him leaving the governorship early to accept a cabinet post -- too much Palin-esque bad juju for the future to do that.   Seems the likely given is that he'll replace Lamar in the Senate in 2020, and parlay that into any possible presidential bid.   - OS
  2.   Yep, often quoted, but have never heard of case law exonerating someone for a defined "lawful activity" other than the ones specifically listed in the statutes.   - OS
  3.   ???   Adultery is one of about 15 of the possible grounds for divorce in TN.   If one party does not agree under the irreconcilable differences ("no fault") clause, then one of the others must be used as the grounds. Certainly, adultery is not necessarily more difficult to prove than some of the others.   - OS
  4.   They seem to go in and out of stock all the time, must just get x number at a time from whoever actually makes them.   http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-aluminum-flip-up-rear-sight.html   - OS
  5.     That's my take too. In ordinary times, I'm sure hanging out at a strip mall etc with a loaded long gun would get you either arrested or at the least told to vamoose, as I don't see any clear defense or exception to the carry-in-public nature of it.   Probably so far letting things slide a bit due to PR aspect.   - OS
  6. For a minimalist approach (2 apertures but no elevation wheel) I've used the PSA folding rear sight on one pistol and one rifle, seems top notch. Not exactly cheap though, even on sale.   - OS
  7.   Possible it's 26" or more in legal OAL?   - OS
  8.   Nothing to do with Westboro, just a loon preacher type from either Madisonville or Jasper.   https://www.google.com/search?q=chattanooga+arrest+at+memorial+site&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8   - OS
  9.   That was my point. I could turn them in, then upgrade!   - OS
  10.   I'll be down at Mom's tomorrow, she lives less than a mile from the Brainerd site -- I'm sure I'll walk over and pay respects at least while I'm there.   - OS
  11.   Bit of a surprise there, but really quite the tribute to the Nooga community.   So sounds like the nuts will have cause to show up for real.   My Dad is interred there.   - OS
  12.   Hey, give me enough financial incentive, I'll turn all my "assault weapons" in. And start over with the profits. :)   - OS
  13.   Where is all this "information" coming from?   - OS
  14.   Read on another board this guy was said to be local "sympathizer" nut of some kind,  not a Westboro member. No hard facts yet apparently.   Here's vid:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEmf0qRAyzU   Latest I can find from actual news is that no actual Westboro folks have actually shown up yet:   http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/local/story/2015/jul/20/crowd-awaits-westboro-baptist-protesters-chattanooga-shooting-memorial-lee-hwy/315517/   Probably won't show at all, if indeed they are only going to protest funerals as they said.   - OS
  15.   I guess they'll be in 5 different states, eh?   Though Wingshooter says one might be in Nooga for some reason.   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/89330-shootings-in-chattanooga-and-cleveland/page-16#entry1288147   There are memorial books in Nooga funeral homes that folks can sign that will be sent to families eventually:   http://www.chattanoogan.com/2015/7/19/304459/Memorial-Books-For-Shooting-Victims.aspx   - OS
  16.   Welcome back Jamie, you old fellow reprobate!   I fought the good fight with the booze for 30 years, but it finally turned into more foe than friend, sad to say...over 18 years ago now, unbelievable.   Cut out booze, cut out cigs, cut out dames ... cut out paper dolls. ;)   - OS
  17.   It's just that the Federal bulk is probably the puniest .223 you can find. Weaker than any of the Russian steel stuff.   But does seem quite consistent shot to shot, which is probably the more important attribute.   - OS
  18.   Yup. AFAIK, there has been some sort of legal hearing to assign guardianship or whatever in these cases. Not sure I'd trust anyone who no longer can manage his own financial affairs to manage firearms either.  I imagine most of this sort of thing is due to dementia/Alzheimer as far as SS is concerned.   On the other hand, having the gummit involved anywhere is always scary per se.   On the third hand, SS is a damn gummit program to begin with -- that you can't opt out of. Though you can piss away the money any way you like, gummit is arguing that you must be mentally competent to choose to do that.   - OS
  19.   I find cheek weld alone as third point of contact more than sufficient. I experimented pushing out on single point sling, found it to suck big time by comparison, not to mention speed of deploying the first shot too.   I have a "fancier" one with brace too -- but didn't want to risk its somewhat higher value stashed in car -- plus I don't wanna have to look around for Max Kingery each time I fire it up. :) :)   - OS
  20. .223 55gr soft point at 2600 fps or better ain't to be sneezed at, I don't think. And 30 rounds can be put on torso toot sweet from point blank to 100 yards. My plain Jane pistol lives behind seat in car in a tennis racquet case should I need to tote it around gray man style. - OS
  21.   Bzzzt    Since 1984 all pay into SS during their tenure in office, and time in office is included in SS benefits scale.   - OS
  22. First rule regarding AR Pistols: questions don't go in the Long Gun forum. :)   - OS
  23.   All "automatic" too I'm sure.   - OS
  24.   Hell, he probably ate pork. After all, he drank booze and smoked pot or something.   - OS
  25.   Maybe back in the Auld Sod .. I mean, Sand.   - OS
