  1.   Yep. Same as the other venues in the other cities that are bucking the tide, even though they use the exact terminology used in 39-17-1311 itself to define these areas.   ... " ... grounds of any public park, playground, civic center or other building facility, area or property owned, used or operated by any municipal, county or state government, or instrumentality thereof, for recreational purposes."   Law suit is possible I guess, but most direct way is likely arrest and criminal court procedure.   - OS
  2.   I'd opine that's more of a argument of semantics on that point.   The "with a view to prevent crime" is the more valid one, but again semantics raises its head -- does that actually require "proof" that any particular carry law does that, or simply that the attempt to do so is sufficient?   Religion gets special consideration in both federal and state law, without any proof of gods. :)   - OS
  3.   Yep.   In a purse simply use a holster that secures it, covering the trigger. A form-fitting Kydex that has a bit of retention is ideal.   - OS
  4.   CM or PM9. My daily carry.   - OS
  5.   Says the legislature has the power. If the legislature specifically says local government can specifically do this or that, are they not exercising that power?   - OS
  6.   Any adult not prohibited from owning or possessing firearms by state or federal law can do so, simple as that.  Unless he has a disqualifying evet in his life, an 18 year old is same as anyone else regarding this matter.   The only difference in treatment of an 18-20 year old is that he can only receive a rifle or shotgun through an FFL and cannot get a TN carry permit.     Was enacted during the 2014 legislative session, not this year.   Note however, this does not cover storing firearms in vehicle in posted, employer-banned, or school parking lots, still takes a permit to be exempt from those circumstances.   - OS
  7.   But the legislature can of course empower local government to do it, hence the previous park bill and the remaining local power regarding carry granted in 39-17-1314.   - OS
  8. Rogero sent Chief of Police Rausch over to Nashville to lobby and testify against the last park bill change.   Also, neither even seemed aware (at least certainly wouldn't admit) that the exemption law had changed the year before, nuking Knoxville's grandfathered local ordinance, so it was already legal to carry in city parks even before.   - OS
  9.   Btw, I have both, and prefer the SBX overall.   - OS
  10.   That tube and the KAK are both made for the purpose of making it longer, for one obvious (and according to Mad Max illegal) reason. SIG has nothing to do with, they make the brace.   So get a standard buffer tube, put the brace on it, and shoot it with your nose touching the charging handle, eh? Or forget the brace and shoot it with buffer tube alongside cheek.   - OS   edit: or throw another 250 clams at it and use LAW folding adapter is you want to cut down carry length while leaving everything else as it is.
  11.   You're really not thinking this through. There's only one reason for having that brace on there.  It's only 1.5" further back than a standard pistol tube alone. Just a dab more than same with rifle with an adjustable stock on it set in first notch. So with a DI type AR, you can only get the thing about 1.5" shorter regardless of what buffer you use, brace or not.   Unless you go with that wacko proprietary short buffer/BCG system, in which case you couldn't use a brace anyway. So if that 1.5" is critical to you, use a standard pistol buffer tube.   It makes no sense to compare the ass end of an AK with the ass end of a direct impingment AR, as they are two different operating systems.   - OS
  12.   What about the most important part, the water first to remove the salts from the corrosive ammo     You left out the pissing down the barrel first.   - OS

    Ruger AR 556

      Yeah, but you're a pro. :)   - OS

I'm afraid NutinFancy has rubbed off on him over time. :)   Didn't know about that threaded delta ring though, that is pert dang cool!   - OS
  15.   Yup, as long as lower court decision stands as the exemplar, already gone.   - OS
  16.   Bzzzt. 'Fraid that's not accurate either, at least since 1992.  :)   - OS
  17. Bzzt. Stock has no significance. Even a completely finished virgin lower with stock attached is fine for a pistol build. And is transferred as "other firearm" via FFL. No receiver (except NFA) can be anything other than a GSA "firearm" until barrel or barrel and stock is attached. In other words, this: is perfectly fine to make a pistol from, as long as it wasn't first built as a rifle. Remove stock, put upper on, you have a legal pistol. And yes, the carbine buffer tube left on it is also legit for a pistol. - OS
  18.   Long way. Scrap steel is .03/lb, stainless a quarter. ;)   - OS
  19. Though it's not been "as planned", I'd wager having that poop tube pretty much back in spec is a win win win type thing, eh?   Hoping for ongoing better health for ya,   OS
  20.   Stache is probably gay, too.   - OS
  21. The Donald is there in the audience, apparently mostly boos when shown on the jumbotron.   - OS
  22.   Well, seems he was buying them from FFLs for the most part though, and that the only thing "wrong" was that his home address was outdated? I mean, technically that's a violation for "lying" on the 4473, but it's not like he was prohibited from buying them, nor getting them through illegal channels per se?   edit: looking further, still can't tell if he had a totally forged DL, or just wrong address on it. He did have a number of arrests in the past, but no felony or domestic violence convictions, BUT at least one place claims he was declared mentally incompetent at one point, in a court.   - OS
  23. Haven't watched much tennis over the last 20 years, but something special this evening in the US Open.   Serena Williams is just three matches away from winning a calendar grand slam (all four majors in same calendar year) -- and dig this, her quarterfinal match tonight is with her sister, Venus!   Only 5 other players have done it, 2 men and 3 women, and the most recent was Steffi Graf way back in 1987.   Anyway, 7:00 on ESPN, for anyone else who's interested.   - OS
  24.   Neither of those cases are FFL selling from their own stock. Obviously, if you have something sent to any FFL you've bought out of state, that's a different story.   Any FFL that charged an extra fee for buying a firearm from him wouldn't be in biz selling guns very long period, and I honestly don't think there's ever been any that even tried. Obviously, one can build whatever profit he wants in the selling price, and it sells at that or it doesn't, but the idea of an extra "handling charge" would just stick in anyone's craw.   - OS
  25.   You know the dope on the Portland guy, right? FBI supplied him with the "bomb". Agent was even sitting in van with him when he tried to explode it. Jury trial. Judge had discretion of life sentence, decided on 30 years for whatever reasons.   - OS
