Hungary sealed its border today. Really. With concertina wire and boots on the ground. And passed a 5 year criminal sentence for violation. Austria is following Germany's lead on that too, also moving to seal its border. The whole long European "open border" ideal is changing fast. - OS

The one on site here is: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/4-suggested-form-for-face-to-face-firearms-sale-or-transfer/ Note that wording in the very first sentence, "Federal Law sets the age of ownership for a Long Gun at 18 and a Handgun at 21" is inaccurate, as it only applies to transfers through an FFL, and not private transfers or ownership per se. - OS

"Unfortunately, the law as it now exists is not clear whether the school’s use of the park for school purposes would render the entire park a “gun free zone” or, as the Attorney General has stated in Opinion 14-088, only those portions of the park that are being used by the school." Somewhat poor opining on John's part methinks. First, that AG opinion was before the current revision of both 39-17-1309 and 39-17-1311, so can't be currently valid since it is commenting on a version of the TCA that no longer exists. And while I'm not claiming that there isn't a bit of gray area remaining regarding "close proximity", it is abundantly clear that use of one area by a school (and with that type area actually limited by definition) does not render the entire park off limits for carry. - OS

Thing is, carrying past a sign is a violation of two statues, each with its specified penalty. Anyone without a permit would also violate more than one statute if drinking in a restaurant, being under the influence, or carrying past a sign, etc. Whether the double whammy regarding 1359 and 1352 was intended or an oversight, I couldn't say, but strongly lean toward the latter, given the long history of conflicting and/or gray TN weapons law. - OS

Unless your dealer can handle it with them, Beretta will generally not pay the shipping on a repair, even for a new gun. I had to pay shipping to get a new NEOS fixed, which it wasn't. Raised some hell, and they paid shipping the second time and it got fixed correctly. Probably not an issue for their mainstream firearms, which wouldn't need repair in the first place. - OS

He's using pistol gas length piston kit -- question is only about the DD rail. :) - OS

Crack or smack or meth often explains that. - OS -
Good luck. So far, no one has ever found a 1359 case regarding a guilty verdict for a TN permit holder. However, 1352 says permit shall be suspended or revoked, no wiggle room in the language. Also, no known case law on the issue of statutorily conforming signage. Many always say, "oh that sign isn't legal". Who knows. - OS

Get familiar with the laws yourself at: http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ Most of the weapons related statutes are in 39-17-13xx The statute covering your question is 39-17-1359, and the penalty is a Class B Misdemeanor, with a fine of $500, no jail time. However, 39-17-1352 says that a violation will also cause your permit to be suspended or revoked. As a concession to your newbyishness ;) : --------------------------------------- 39-17-1359. ( b ) As used in this section, "language substantially similar to" means the sign contains language plainly stating that: (i) The property is posted under authority of Tennessee law; (ii) Weapons or firearms are prohibited on the property, in the building, or on the portion of the property or building that is posted; and (iii) Possessing a weapon in an area that has been posted is a criminal offense. I carry a snubnose revolver because.....

J frame is nifty enough for pocket carry, but it's still larger, thicker, and with 2 fewer rounds than my Kahr PM9, so the Moonie gets the nod. - OS -
I'm pretty big guy, but I swear, anything bigger than the Kahr is too big for me in the pocket and besides, J frame bugs me for being too fat, and no sense to me to carry 2 fewer rounds in even same size heater in the first place. - OS

Yep, still snakebit. They said that the 17 was largest lead ever blown at home. - OS

Nor of course was Otis McDonald arrested in Chicago. - OS -
Well, I figgered he meant figuratively, compared to here. 'Course, though they'll applaud anyone who does it, ISIS hasn't shown a lot of interest so far in committing small group terrorist events in other countries from their own ranks. They are mainly an army. - OS

That's why a suit that included ongoing injunction would be handy -- would mean power of a contempt penalty for whichever cheese continued to ignore it. - OS -
Assuming it has standard length "pistol" buffer tube on it and not one of the niche super shorty ones, change buffer tube to carbine one that will accept a stock, attach stock, and put the upper on it. Same buffer and spring inside are probably fine for adjustable carbine type tube/stock; though somebody might have put a heavier buffer in it than standard -- if so, you won't know if you need to change it till you shoot it. Standard carbine buffer is around 2.8-3oz. If heavier, might still run fine with your rifle upper, might not, probably will.0 edit: oh yeah, if that pistol buffer tube is type that doesn't use a castle nut, you'll need that also. So to be perfectly clear you need this for sure: And possibly this: With the slighter possibly of needing to swap this down the road: And of course a stock. Or you could just cut to the chase and get a basic entire stock/buffer assembly for like 40 clams plus shipping from PSA or wherever and have a few spare parts left over. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/1145/category/409/ - OS

So now expect all the anti cities to remove their recreational properties from under "Parks and Recreation Department management" and claim to be able to ban carry that way, eh? Just takes shuffling a few papers around. - OS -
I had just sat down at my box in home office, cranking up my workday at the time, had CNN on when it started. This morning starting at exact same time, 8:53, MSNBC replayed NBC's live coverage of that day, without commercial break, till noon. First time I've seen it like that since the actual event, and it was damn near as chilling as watching it live back on that day. Dan Rather pegged my sentiment when he said early on, like (paraphrase) "this changes America from this moment on in ways we can't even yet grasp". - OS

Yep, I've actually shot one, and it confirmed my initial opinion that it's about as worthless a config as a feller could come up with -- retaining no advantages of a pistol or a rifle with the level action platform. There's really no way to hold the thing with one or both hands that is more conducive for accuracy than a six inch conventional revolver. Other "rifle pistols", like AR/AK pistols or Ruger Charger, have same drawbacks as far as actual size for a "handgun", but have saving graces for accuracy like buffer tube, one point sling, bipod, whatever, not to mention the "illegal" braces. Also not to mention the semi-auto function. Plus with AR/AK pistols you have a true high velocity rifle caliber in a short package. Not that .45 colt or .357 mag are wimps by any means, but you can get that firepower in an actual conventional pistol that will deliver same accuracy at the least, and of course spit them out a helluva lot faster than lever action. Of course, none of that should deter ya if you want one -- firearm fun ain't always about ultimate practicality. ;) - OS

"Micro" = "pocket" to me. And at least for me, the only pistols mentioned in this thread that are really pocket friendly to the normal humanoid is the Kahr PM/CM 9 (MK is same size but significantly heavier) and that DB9. - OS

Would just take one to have clear standing for a suit. Show up, make sure you have a vid rolling. In suit, your demands are modest, reasonable compensation for missing out on the fair and time wasted on lawsuit, attorney fees, but mainly a clear injunction on the city doing anything like this is in the future. Probably Kwik would have already been involved here and there -- if he still had a permit to carry in the first place. - OS
