Lucky, I have similar situation: That's an old 1960's Charter Arms Undercover. Shoots well. Though I'm planning to carry Kahr PM9 predominately, thinking I might carry this instead some. I've run a couple chambers of +p through it, but no way it's "rated" for it. Some folks I'm sure would say to just carry +p in it but practice with standard .38, but I wouldn't want to take the chance that the one time I needed it for my life it might blow something loose. Those are just lead round nose in the pic, and I'm sure they'd do the job, and not being FMJ, would probably not pass all the way through, but... Anyway, I can't find ANY non +p hollowpoint of any kind in Knoxville for it, so think I'll order some, probably from CheaperThanDirt, since I want a few other items they have. Federal makes HydroShok 110 grain JHP: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/68253-5.html Hornady makes several variants, including a 158 grain JHP: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/87386-5.html I like the idea of 158 grain, but these are all "XTP". Is that a higher pressure load, like +p? It only says 850 fps, though and the Hydroshok claims more than that. Anyone know? - OS

Yeah, all Kahrs are DA. If you want a Kahr .45, you just have to decide whether you want a heavy or a light one, and a "full size compact" or a "compact compact". - OS
-
Okay, I'll concede that difference. But the trigger still has to be pulled, period. And I certainly agree that reholstering ANY loaded handgun has probably the highest risk of AD. - OS
-
Well, think about it. What's the difference between the two guns? They both have a round in the chamber. Neither will discharge due to heat, cold, rain, humidity, noise, etc etc. Neither will discharge if you drop them. Neither will discharge except in ONE WAY: yep, trigger pulled. So really, I know of NO DIFFERENCE safety wise between the Glock and the snubbie. Can you think of one? - OS

Just razzin... Truly appreciate your service. Btw, you might need all that firepower back HERE before long. Or now, if you have to go to Memphis much! - OS

Yep. Bill Clinton got elected first term because of: - "Read my lips - no new taxes" - Dan Quayle - OS -
Getting to know each other: What do you look like?

She's pretty. Sweet of you to marry a blind lady. - OS -
Unless Obama really steps on his goober somehow before November, I don't see how he can lose. The old "are you better off now than 8 years ago" question is a showstopper for the Republican party, thanks to Dubya. - OS

Look, things are going to get A LOT WORSE no matter what. We've reached a point of critical mass worldwide, and hence in America too. At heart, it's an overpopulation/environmental issue, but will be translated economically. Which will mean much more than simply a pile of folks out of work. The upside-down pyramid of more more more from the same resource pool of land, water, air, petroleum etc etc, is on the verge of toppling. It will happen, and most of us on this forum today may live to see it (at least the first parts of it). I dare say that if we had a depression like the 30's, America alone would lose a third of it's population in just a few years. Of course I hope I'm dead wrong. Maybe we're just seeing a hiccup for now. But it will happen eventually; it's inevitable that the planet will shake several billion of us off like fleas. And the quickest way for that to happen of course is economical calamity. - OS ps: It's my birthday, so I'm being cheerfully optimistic here.

Yes to all. 48 hours time limit. I think Target is more appropriate myself, given the name. But no ammo there, so you have to renew your permit a year early if you choose that route. - OS

Did you think Dubya could? Did you think he could, twice? - OS

Video - Obama's anti-gun voting record
Oh Shoot replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oh, I think the SCOTUS thing is probably overblown for several reasons. Check out parallel discussion, toward the end: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10161&page=2 - OS -
All good points, GB. Also, something else I've not seen mentioned is that for the next 4 and probably 8 years, both the House and Senate will be overwhelmingly Democratic. So it's not likely a Republican prez is gonna get much in the way of his primary choice of SCOTUS justice in there anyway. - OS

Is that mentioned in the video ? Blew right past me if it is...guess I was dozing.. - OS

YOU could "run the country" as well as either of these, and I don't even know you. As long as we have the Parliament of Whores system in place, nothing significant will change. As long as a rep/sen's prime directive is to be reelected, nothing significant will change. There is NO possible candidate running under the current two-party guise that could really make much of a difference. Only concern is who could do the least damage. Damage control differences between McCain and Obama are negligible. The founding fathers never considered that anyone would even WANT to be a "career politician", the concept just wasn't there. Probably the biggest mistake they made with the Constitution, not writing in a term limits clause. I agree with Niel Boortz that WE SHOULD NOT EVEN VOTE FOR A PRESIDENT. That's not even a constitutional mandated function. It has become simply an American Idol contest. What a concept that one has to spend a billion bucks to get a 400K job. Put term limits in place, and let Congress select a president. They'd do a decent job if they knew they were only going to serve a couple of terms max, and had no other self-vested interests beyond America's own best interest at stake. All that being said, sure, I'll vote. But I can only vote with my little bitty conscience, and it won't allow me to go Democrat or Republican any more. - OS -
Sounds familiar. Just turned 60 today. If I'd known I would live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself - OS

Oh Shoot replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It's a wasted vote for the geezer OR the youngster. It'll be politics as usual, except for more than even odds that neither will live out a first term, for separate reasons. If I vote Libertarian, at least I've stated a preference and feel more moral about the whole mess, more "American" if you will. As much as I of course support gun rights, I can't vote for McCain on that alone. The country is to the point that social disintegration is a very real possibility, in which case "legal" anything may have little meaning. And more of the same can't possibly forestall that very much longer. The two party system has evolved into nothing less than a collective tyranny. I really do believe that if Jefferson, Franklin, Adams and the rest of the boys were reincarnated, they'd be organizing the "citizen militia" to overthrow the whole mess; they'd see it as little better than the British control they contested in the first place. - OS "Murphy was an optimist." -

Old fool or foolish youngster. Sigh. Guess it'll be a throwaway Libertarian protest vote for me this year. Maybe enough will feel that way to finally get a viable third party movement going in this country. But it's probably already too late to save this totally broken experiment in liberty. Question about transferring gun to kalifornia
Oh Shoot replied to KahrMan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Actually, if you read that link, the rule applies to INstate transfers, too, so I doubt if the Cali gun shops liked it either - same delay/hassle for them. - OS -
Just to nitpick, it's WEST Main on that side of the main intersection (and actually W Main for one block on the other side too, just to make it more confusing - OS
