Not true. I think I've seen that as a requirement in some other state(s) from browsing handgunlaw.us and similar. Similar to the "no driving barefoot law" people often quote, which also doesn't exist. As far as that clip though, while convenient and probably safe enough, I still wouldn't carry any semi-auto DAO (with no external safety) in any way where the trigger isn't covered. Seems that there would always be some chance, however slight, that something could get in that trigger guard and pull that trigger. Shirt tail, undershirt, roll of fat :-), grabbing it wrong in a hurry under stress. Whatever. I'll admit that for me that's probably more of a psychological response than a logical one. - OS

its a gun, its a knife, its....pretty cool...
Oh Shoot replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in Handguns
I love it. "That's not a knife". "THIS is a knife." Now you can bring a knife to a gunfight and a gun to a knife fight! Or something like that... - OS -
Here's one way of holding flashlight/handgun I've seen touted several places (with pix): http://www.suarezinternational.com/harries.html edit: oops, just noticed original post re about "while reloading". Oh well, can't delete a post, so just let it stand. Agree that if needing to reload while being under fire, flashlight probably becomes a very secondary issue. If it's that dark, maybe it's better YOU are in the dark! - OS

Main prob seems to be color balance. What are the bulbs? - OS

Stan Brock was the guy doing most of the dangerous work for years on Wild Kingdom, while Marlin Perkins "stood in the background". Stan, you know, runs the Remote Area Medical relief organization, last I heard, lives in Knoxville in some former schoolhouse, at least at last report without heat or electricity! By choice. Interesting guy. The Medical org was featured on 60 minutes not long ago where they did a weekend stint in Knoxville, treated many hundreds of folks for free. (I trust this is now sufficiently off-topic!) - OS

Some forums say the KelTec one doesn't work. Found one that says it will; obviously, janwbrown616 says it will, so I guess it indeed does. I looked into similar for most any gun when I first knew I would be carrying, the ClipDraw (http://www.clipdraw.com), but decided pretty early on I didn't want to be carrying any handgun, especially semi-auto DAO, without something covering the trigger. - OS

For what it's worth, I was give a .22 rifle at 12 or 13 years old. For Christmas. That was in '60 or '61. Although I had shot my granddad's shotgun some a couple years before that. Remington Fieldmaster Pump. I still have it, shoots fine. I wasn't allowed to actually use it without my dad or granddad being with me until I was about 15 or so, when I started going hunting with friends. And yes, they both gave me plenty of instruction. Granddad strung wire on the Hindenburg Line with mules during WWI, and Dad was in 3rd wave on Omaha Beach, so they both had ample long firearms experience. - OS

As much as I like handguns, can assure you I'll grab my shottie if I can for any HOME defense needs. Remington 870 pump, 18" barrel, 7 round capacity. Around $325 new. It's the best bang for the buck in all the firearm world IMNSHO. - OS

I held the small 9mm XD today for the first time. Wow, really nice. The trigger is beyond belief great - it loads up just perfect so you know exactly the release point, and what a smooth gentle snick that release is! I still love my Kahr, it being still smaller yet, but since I've got two guns in the other two calibers I've settled on, thinking seriously about this being my second 9mm. - OS
-
No. 9mm is as far as I know, cheapest caliber period, cept for .22. Example: WallyWorld Winchester "white box" (good for range) 100 9mm is $18+ 100 .38 special is $29+ - OS

Your sig phrase "The best vermin target EVER" points to invalid URL (http://www.jpfo.org/hitlertarget.pdf). JFYI, - OS

Wow, that's a long time... I called, wish I had gotten that answer. I just got the "still waiting on background check". Hoping it will move like Bubbiesdad's did, never know. - OS

Taurus Judge will do .45 colt and .410 shotgun - OS

It's okay. No biggie. This is actually the proper place, so I encourage others to reply here. And welcome aboard (although I should have posted that in the OTHER place, I guess ) - OS

Interestingly (or not) that's same place as www.ammunitiontogo.com. - OS -

I'd venture that ANY of those would do the job just fine on a bipedal humanoid type bad person. (pic only): http://frag.110mb.com/images/All.Samples/Samples_UpRight.jpg - OS -

9mm carry/self defense ammo

Knoxville cops apparently use Golden Saber 124 gr regular pressure, I've been told. Everything points to it being among the most effective rounds anyway. Thought I might as well carry (soon as I can) with same thing, maybe a tad of legal help if the second worst thing ever happens. - OS -
never mind...forums mixed up

Well, most opinions that I find state it is actually about the worst! Will kill, but not stop. No expansion. Bad ricochets. Etc. - OS

Checked out CCI/Speer. Unless I'm missing something, those are +p. Or a discontinued line. Interestingly (or not), Speer-Hornady started out as the same company. - OS
-
Lucky, I've done some more onlining re the Hornady. Even sat through their online video, which is actually pretty good. It really looks like an all around good choice for .38 hollow point defense round to me. - OS
-
Think I've answered my own question. XTP seems to be all about Hornady bullet construction, not about powder load, these might be what I order. - OS
-
Huh? Knoxville Wally World sure doesn't have that, only FMJ. I can't find a hollowpoint non +p on Remington's product site at all in UMC or Express. Only 100 round .38 they list is indeed a 125 gr SJHP, but it is +p You have any in box? What's the product number or whatever? Thanks in advance - OS

In picture mode today... Here's my 1950's H&R 922. It's my hidden kitchen gun. Nine shot, remove cylinder to reload. It would look nice if I could find some inexpensive wood grips to replace the factory plastic of that day. Decided not to carry it as main weapon - OS
