  1. There ARE some notable exceptions, though. I'm a big CheaperThanDirt.com fan. Their inventory tells you right away if it's in stock. Matter of fact, if it's not, you can't even "back order" it if you want to. In about 10 orders from them over time, I've never been disappointed. - OS
  2. Methinks 8 to 12 .32 size pellets (00 buck) at 1200 fps or better oughtta do it. And sure seems to me that with an 18" or longer barrel, within the 25-30 foot max shot within the home, one SHOULD be able to put EVERY ONE of them IN the perp, too. - OS
  3. That's actually the Galco "Walkabout". But exactly same as Stow and Go with the mag carried added. Actually, they make this for Glock 26 too: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/48057-33.html but it might be getting a little cumbersome, dunno, as Kahr PM9 is significantly smaller than the Glock 26. - OS
  4. IC. Well, one other thing is that no IWB holster I've ever tried is very good without a belt. Obviously, the ones with belt loops need one, but the metal or plastic clip ones aren't very good just clipped onto pants waistband, with no belt to clip over. That being said, like Packin Momma said, Galco ain't a bad choice, for a cheapo. Their "Stow and Go" is pretty comfy (I'll be pocket carrying my Kahr mostly, but have a Stow and Go, too). The "injection molded" clip (plastic, but fairly substantial) might serve okay on just pants seam. Only 22 bucks from Cheaper than Dirt...(plus shipping, so buy something else while you're at it :-) http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/48046-33.html Actually, they have some Ace Case cheapos on there for 8 bucks that might serve your limited purpose...or an Uncle Mike's cheapo. - OS
  5. Pardon the dumb question, but if you're just going to use it at home, why not just use an OWB holster and be more comfy? - OS
  6. They suck. Out of stock a constant complaint re their eBay listings. Check out their neg feedbacks from toolhaus.org: http://tinyurl.com/5f5gr2 - OS
  7. Little cheaper on eBay, but not by a whole lot. Probably save some if you buy both calibers from same vendor in eBay Store, combining shipping: 9mm http://tinyurl.com/6rftaf .357 http://tinyurl.com/6ythwh .38 http://tinyurl.com/5wfa26 - OS
  8. Actually, you might be right. I emailed the commissioner's office, too. Assuming either/both offices even read the things, I might either get action or get blackballed. I would just wait, even after conflicting info from my two calls, about 10 days apart, but getting blown off about some 90+90 day cycle that isn't even LEGAL takes the cake. Heck, if it's not issued in 90 day window, I may impose on a lawyer friend to file a friggin criminal malfeasance charge or some such ! - OS
  9. Nope, 1000 word essay. Have to trace the history of warfare from ancient Greece through the present, with special emphasis on weaponry from WWI and forward. List the 10 most common handguns for concealed carry and draw schematics of exploded disassembly diagrams. Few other things like that. Piece o' cake. Like Brian said, you'd have to be brain dead to flunk it. - OS
  10. I so disgusted with the entire inequality and slip-shod nature of the process, I sent email to Joe Armstrong, my state rep, asking him to look into it, not just for me, but in general. Included lots of factoids, including link to this thread here, and also to the Naifeh fiasco, as an ironic ps. Probably that and a dollar will get me a cuppa joe, but what the heck. If I don't get a response from Armstrong's folks by midweek, I'll call his office, too. - OS
  11. Oh, me either. I was just curious enough to go to their site and see what the "comp" thing was all about. I thought it might be for some proprietary ammo load or something, like those .25NAA and .32NAA models from North American Arms (which seems to me like another of those solutions to problems that don't exit). - OS
  12. Whoosh on my part, then. (and I meant the online manual, 'cause I though you wuz serious). - OS
  13. Yes. Read one of the owner's manuals for a "comp" model. - OS
  14. Boy, i tell you, this is one seriously messed up system. I just called (June 9 for me), "Natasha" told me they are on a 90 day "backlog cycle" and after a question or two, that it "could" take 180 days to get the thing! But they were getting "caught up". I asked how some folks who applied AFTER me already had permit, said something to the effect that they must have been lucky enough to have hit a "previous cycle" or some such balderdash. I don't want to make any more waves until I actually get it (this is my second call), but I can assure you that I will try to make some noise to commissioner and/or my state rep afterwards. I've lived in TN all my life, and at the same address for the last 11 years. Have CDL, bought guns recently, etc. I don't know who would be any easier to "clear" than me. This is absolutely an intolerable practice and needs investigation/reform. - OS
  15. Let us know how that works out. Pix if you buy it would be great. I'd like to maybe carry my 101 some, but I've found nothing comfy that doesn't print badly, mostly always the grip/butt (factory). I've returned a High Noon Softy and a Bianchi so far. Only way I've found to completely conceal it is SOB, just using a cheapo Uncle Mike's. Not my fav. Would like to know if the Crossbreed will hold a revolver close enough in to wear behind hip around 3:30-4:00. Will almost certain carry Kahr in pocket most of the time, but the 101 is just a little much that way. - OS
  16. Yeah, always some memorable trivia factoid therein, even if you already know something about the subject. Like, that Hemingway's suicide shottie was probably an A&F. - OS
  17. "Compensated". I guess that's similar to "ported". The "compensator" looks like an add on deal on end of barrel. Has same option in 9mm model, too. (the .pdf manual sort of explains it). - OS
  18. Think McCain has decent odd to LIVE till November? I'd say his pick for veep will be a MUCH BIGGER consideration for voters than usual. - OS

    NEW LCP

Some things I've read suggest that even Ruger itself was surprised by the immediate magnitude of consumer demand. - OS

    NEW LCP

Methinks the name Ruger has more to do with it than anything else. (Although these puppies seem to have somewhat more reliability probs than what one generally expect from Ruger). Also, it was shrewd R&D/marketing/timing on Ruger's part to tailor a gun to the hugely expanding base of concealed carry folks, many of whom have never even owned a handgun before, or didn't have one small enough they felt they could carry. - OS

  22. Without permit can't carry on your person, nor loaded in your car Matter of fact, handgun and ammo can't even be in easy proximity to each other in the car. With permit you can carry on your person, have weapon (loaded) anywhere in car, etc. In TN or FL. But you won't have permit for at least a couple months after you submit your paperwork. And probably closer to 3 months or longer. - OS

    NEW LCP

I agree. Except I would worry about it. Note I said it's more of a psychological than logical response on my part. Well, to be fair on that, there is no "locked" on the LCP. - OS
  24. Not to mention that the prohibition is for "prohibited weapons" as defined in 39-17-1302, in which conventional firearms are not even mentioned. - OS
