  1. My first ever gun, Remington FieldMaster Model 121, pump .22. Last production 1954. Was under the tree on my 12th Christmas in 1960. It looked brand new, dunno if it was old new stock from somewhere or just in great shape; it was sure shiny new to my young bright eyes! It was responsible for many a squirrel and dumpling supper through the years. I actually sold it to an acquaintance during some tough times in my mid 20's, and bought it back from his ex some years later; it had been stored poorly and the finish had really suffered. The elevation adjuster under the rear sight is gone, though, so don't know if it's still pert close or not. Thinking I might bring it along to the Norris shoot Sat and see. - OS
  2. Well, about half of Comcast's subscribers are already "switched". Meaning, if you have "digital service" with the converter box. And more of the regular 1-99 channels have been moved into the higher numbers over the last couple of years. As of now, basic digital service includes one converter box w/ remote, no extra charge. Matter of fact, I had two boxes, and when they redid the pricing structure some time ago, I quit receiving the additional charge for either box. But of course, overall cable bill has crept up and up anyway. - OS
  3. I might actually show up and meet some of you cranky bastids Is it on? Where do we meet? What time? Can shoot shotguns at Norris range? Who won the 1957 World Series? - OS
  4. All ballistics tests I've seen indicate you need FMJ in any .380 period. You need ALL the penetration you can get in that caliber, and it ain't gonna go through a human body. Forget the hollowpoints. - OS
  5. Probably helps the structural integrity of the whole thing, too, makes it stronger. - OS
  6. +1 Same ole tune from me: the two party system has become tyranny, plain and simple. There are really only "two" parties during election campaigns. Both are equally oppressive to the ideals upon which America was founded. - OS
  7. Wow, you were paying 2.59 a few days ago? Typo? - OS edit: wow, gutter! simultaneous, even the word "typo", far out...
  8. Yeah, I fished it with my Pop for a week when I was a kid. Cane poles and big black roaches for bait...crappie the size I've never seen since for the most part. They still use roaches for bait there? They actually sold them like worms or minnows 45 or 50 years ago! - OS
  9. Indeed! I'm sure you know how Reelfoot was formed, eh? - OS
  10. handgunlaw.us and concealedcarry.net most commonly suggested A biggie in VA: you must OPEN carry in any place that sells booze for consumption. Nicknamed "the Virginia Tuck". (no permit required for open carry) - OS
  11. Congrats. Your odds of getting this in the 6 weeks or so is about like winning the lottery! - OS
  12. No no, you misunderstand...towerclimber and unreconstructed would definitely let the prez carry. Same right as you and I, just no more than. - OS
  13. Yeah, I got hooked on those for a while. The chicks are even more fun to watch. - OS
  14. Does she do the "speaking in tongues" thing? Oh, never mind, I forgot...I've already heard her do that with Charlie Gibson. - OS
  15. Cool...so we only need to lose a couple. Maybe a couple of vice-presidents, too, after they take over. Maybe a couple of SpeakersOfTheHouse, after they take over... Gotcha. I see that we don't need the Secret Service at all. I'm gonna quit paying my taxes, by golly. - OS
  16. From reading various carry forums, seems this used to be quite common practice during vehicle stops; not so much now, seems. One story still makes me laugh (maybe on this board?) where the cop wanted to get all the guns sequestered during a traffic stop, and between driver & wife with main guns and BUGs, glove compartment, etc, the cop was gonna be juggling about 8 guns, and finally said just leave them where they were... - OS
  17. Deeply profound exercise in logic. Truly impressed here. - OS
  18. There ARE occasional whits of humor still - OS
  19. Back on thread topic some ... the prevailing view on TGO has been that "a vote for Barr is a vote for Obama" -- well, I think it's now quite moot as to who it may actually benefit. - OS
  20. That's what I thought. You can cite Secret Service protection as being hypocritical if you like, but do try to get facts correct about individual credentials. I'm no Pelosi fan either, but since she is 3rd in line to the presidency, it makes sense she has SS protection. Would you rather that the top few folks at America's helm (for better or worse) have only a handgun in their pocket against all the crazies they might face, and no other protection? If that were the case, it's likely that EVERY president would be assassinated. - OS
  21. Can you point to any documentation that Pelosi carries? I can find no references to that. - OS
  22. Glad she's finally legit, but that's just totally outrageous (non) performance by TNDOS. - OS
  23. I don't know about Boxer, but the facts on Feinstein: she only had permit for a while in the mid '70's due to some specific threats. She later turned both the permit and her gun into police and has had no permit since. - OS
