  1. Not picking nits, but sounds like you are not really overly familiar with this round? Ever looked at ballistic tests? Anyway, I seriously disagree with using that stuff at all...you're likely to have a wounded and now seriously pissed off and more desperate BG who is likely to still be able to pummel you to death even if he's not armed. It might well eventually kill him, but the odds of it stopping him are not heavily in your favor. IMNSHO, no handgun hollowpoint under .44 magnum is likely to pass through a body entering anywhere near center mass (and if it should, likely wouldn't have enough steam left to be lethal) and is by far your best and safest bet. - OS
  2. Anxiously awaiting a report on the DRT. Shoot a watermelon through a tree or something. - OS
  3. Less "snap" for sure; just more like a solid "pushback". Certainly no "sting" at all. Prolly about same muzzle rise between the two. And it is a snubbie, 2 1/4". Several of us shot it at Norris last week all using .357, nobody went "ow". - OS
  4. Shipping would be less than a bazillion clams. - OS
  5. I wish I only had 115 bad brain cells. - OS
  6. Ah, then you have never shot a Ruger SP101 ! .357's are no problemo and .38's are like .32's - OS
  7. Yep, your next of kin will be pleased when it is repaired for free. - OS
  8. Escargot. If you can't spell it, you don't have to eat it! - OS
  9. I'm gonna switch to DRT. Shoot through a telephone pole to get the badguy without hitting the hostage standing right behind him. Also safe to shoot inside as it won't penetrate sheetrock, but will vaporize flesh (and watermelons). Great all around stuff, seems. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM463-5.html http://www.drtammo.com/ - OS
  10. Hollar at me if you wanna/can go on a weekday, I'd go widja; probably pretty open then. I got a new pistola I'd like to shoot more soon anyway... - OS
  11. Oh, okay, I zoomed in...it's a mile or less off US11. So its "boundaries" don't actually reach the highway, huh? - OS
  12. Yeah, I have some Smith and Wesson ones, seem okay with my 9mm and .357, even with my 870, but I admit that I added headphones when Bubbiesdad started firing off that big bore howitzer of his at Norris last week. I've also added the headphones near somebody shooting 44 mag indoors at Coal Creek. - OS
  13. Since I've now paid for a year at the Norris range, wouldn't mind it being there again. It was pretty crowded last Sat when we got there about 12:30, no positions available on the rifle range, but 4 of us could get started on pistol "range" part, and the other one freed up by about 2. Let's see, the Voles play at home, that will likely be a 12:30 game by then? If so, range might be relatively sparse for them who don't care about watching it? (like me) - OS
  14. Official greets (although been reading your posts already ) - OS
  15. I've been there, but I've been up and down Hwy 11 all my life and NEVER heard of Tasso before! Is there actually a little unincorporated sign on the road? - OS
  16. You finally jumped through all the hoops, goody for you! - OS
  17. Whoops, I posted something over in the Welcome forum, where this topic was already rolling... Maybe they should be modded over to here, for more folks to find the discussion? - OS
  18. No scientific representative sampling available of course, but from my own experience and reading here, I'm convinced that without prodding, at least 25% of all apps would be over 90 days. Maybe more. - OS
  19. Hiya LW...I grew up fishing there...matter of fact, looking for way to get back down there and settle in for good ... Welcome! - OS
  20. Well, the price is right, eh? Welcome to TGO, Dave, from fellow Knoxburgian.. - OS
  21. I live for the hissy fits myself Welcome to ya... - OS
  22. Well, they just don't "point" for me. If I hold one and point at target, then look in sights, it's always high. I think this is a pretty common phenomenon. Although a lot of folks say they tend to shoot them low and left, so that doesn't really jibe, so I dunno. I must say, though, that using sights, the gun is certainly more accurate than my limited skills can maximize. And there's no doubt it's as reliable a semi-auto made. But of course, if you carry it on hip, you'll eventually shoot your ass off, or worse if you carry AIWB, your goober. But everybody knows that. - OS
