  1. All these stories imply that the weight and gravity of a bullet falling are lethal. They are not. To kill, a bullet must still be under the influence of the original powder charge to the extent of penetration of the person's body. That's all I'm saying. In one case, you are killed because the bullet is still moving fast enough to penetrate you (by the original impetus of gunpowder). In the other case, the bullet is moving only with its own mass and gravity, and will not penetrate you. - OS
  2. Forget that then. Just read the article. There is no proof offered that mass and gravity of bullets alone can kill anyone. Shooting "into the air" is different from "shooting into the air with sufficient angle that all propulsion from original charge is dissipated before descent". The former can be lethal, the latter, almost certainly not. - OS
  3. Well the point is, that at Owl Hollow, a shot pretty much straight up in the air ain't gonna kill anybody when it comes down, as opposed to a shot of say 10 degrees over the horizon, which certainly could. - OS
  4. If you found it on Google it must be true. Note that all the cases cited are from "celebratory gunfire", and aerial gunfire, and the like. Those killed were NOT killed from rounds that were falling from just their own mass and gravity. - OS
  5. My experience are the laws of physics and the maximum speed of falling objects in gravity. All these stories of folks dying from "rounds in the air", are killed from bullets still in motion from force of the charge. They are not killed by the bullets simply falling from the air under gravity alone. - OS
  6. I don't care where anyone has been, assuming we are talking Planet Earth; spent bullets falling out of the sky, even 30 caliber size, aren't gonna do much damage to human beans. Bruises, possibility of chipped bone should it hit just perfectly on edge of bone and the like. No body penetration. Possibility of death right around 0%. Maybe 70+ folks did die from bullets during Saddam's 2003 bday festivities, but they sure didn't die from those bullets falling from the sky via only gravity and their own mass. - OS

I don't see much good press for Pro Mags for ANY firearm. I don't see how they're even still in biz. - OS
  8. Ain't that what MusicMan (and at least one other guy) blew up his shootin iron with? - OS
  9. The FBI ammo recommendation statement re .380 always stuck with me. "Best round for .380: There isn't one. Use FMJ so that it might penetrate." - OS
  10. Took less than 10 min at Downtown West this afternoon, including walking from and back to car. - OS
  11. I was on old laptop, dialup, last few days out of town. I saw the original blue motif; I assumed you had just reverted back. This was with Windows 98 and old IBM laptop. I'd have to look again to see what video board is built into that. Back home on Win XP, nVidia card, it's the brown motif. EDIT: the old laptop (IBM) uses NeoMagic Magic Graph onboard video adaptor. - OS
  12. Okay, so it's 12:30 at Shoney's, or about 1:30 at the Norris range itself? - OS
  13. Ah so ... well, dat 'splains it...thankee kindly. - OS
  14. Howzit that some listings have comments, and I see a box to leave mine, but some have no option for leaving comments? - OS

  17. Don't understand. Buckshot/slugs rise? 6" in 7 yards? Certainly, not my experience. ?? - OS
  18. Don't understand previous poster saying that WalMarts down here in Nooga were posted. I walked over to the other one today (Brainerd Rd, next to the creek), not posted. - OS
  19. All kinds of stuff, you're right. Everything but money! - OS
  20. I don't know any ladies, otherwise they wouldn't be with me. Can she just be female? - OS
  21. Dude, put a Kahr in yer front pocket for awhile. 13 9mm's in package about same size as my wallet, and THINNER than my wallet, too:
  22. I'm down in 'nooga for a few days. On long walk today, toddled by Hamilton...main entrance (by the cafeteria) posted legally. Sears and Penny entrances not posted at all. Meant to go in one and see if posted on way out of those stores into mall proper, but forgot. Walmart not posted, at least at grocery entrance. - OS
  23. I bought some at Dick's in 'Nooga today: 9mm UMC. First box 10.98, second 5.49 = 16.47 which is about 3.50 cheaper than Wally's WWB for 100. It's also about .50 cheaper than the same ammo at Dicks if you buy a case of ten, but of course I could only get 6 boxes. I had coupon printed from online. Actually I have two so I might stop at Dick's here in Ktown on way home too. Every little bit helps, I suppose. (offer is good through the 18th) - OS
