I was of course being facetious; enjoy pointing out the magic and fairy tales associated with the different religions... Though I'm not a lawyer, I'd bet most of my farm that no one will ever be charged for breaking the boozehouse law by carrying in church during communion. - OS

State of Emergency Rules on carry?
Oh Shoot replied to JeffsSig's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
What/when was that State of Emergency? One of the hurricanes? agree with RightWinger, that's the likeliest time to need your weapons... - OS -
Not Catholic are ya? One word: transubstantiation. The wine is no longer wine by the time it is served; it has literally changed into the blood of Christ. - OS

Again, all you folks saying to "cancel PayPal" and the like obviously don't sell much on eBay. Not accepting PayPal slashes your buyer pool WAY down. And also hurts your visibility on eBay search engine. Is it a loaded deck? Yep. But of course you don't have to play (unless you need to). - OS

Well, I took it as a challenge: here is, by Fobus at their site: GLOCK 17/19/22/23/31/32/34/35 -THUMB BREAK ROTO-HOLSTER™ BELT 2 1/4 http://www.fobusholster.com/products/GLOCK_17_19_22_23_31_32_34_35_THUMB_BREAK_ROTO_HOLSTER_BELT_2_1_4-4251-41.html Or here at CopsPlus: http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum2294.php Ugly sucker, looks like Darth Vader would keep his light saber in it. I believe dept requires you to have thumb break for personal carry , yes? But does it HAVE to be a plastic fantastic instead of nice leather? - OS

Yep, eBay has really slanted things to favor the buyers. They had to, were losing buyers by the millions. Anyway, I looked you up there (guess that's you with same name) and see that you haven't really sold much yet over your tenure there....I'll tell you my course: even back when I could leave a neg, assuming a buyer got in touch and paid in 2-3 days after auction, I would leave immediate feedback, as I believe that the buyer has then fulfilled his obligation. It's worked out okay...have over 700 + FB, no negs. Remember, there's always another day, another sale, and you can't let the rare UberAzzhole ruin your day... As far as all you folks advocating NOT using PP, fine for you maybe, but if you seriously sell on the web, you only have two real choices: pay for your own credit card processing or use PayPal. Last time I looked at pricing, if you aren't doing at least 5 grand/month or so in sales, PayPal is by far a better deal. - OS

Sorry, my answer was incomplete and actually, just wrong! Below is the exact PayPal policy re firearms related items. I have bought various firearms related stuff (mag carriers, grips, etc) on eBay and several holsters off eBay using PayPal, but these were not prohibited items. So yes, certain gun parts and all ammo are verboten. --------------- What types of firearms related items does PayPal prohibit? Question : Answer : PayPal prohibits all account holders from buying or selling any type of firearm and certain firearm parts and ammunition. PayPal may allow certain U.S. merchants to sell items addressed by this policy if they have been approved by PayPal and can ensure transactions and shipments comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Firearms – Include all rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they are intended for use in sporting, as collectibles, or as curio and relic firearms. These items are prohibited regardless of their present working order. Firearm parts - Include, but are not limited to, receivers and frames, silencers, kits designed to convert a firearm to automatic firing capability, high capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers. Ammunition - Includes ammunition with propellant, such as gunpowder or blank ammunition. Ammunition is defined as ammunition or cartridge cases, primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm. Stun guns - For U.S. residents, PayPal allows transactions for stun guns only if the transaction is permitted by law in both the buyer's and seller's jurisdictions. U.S. sellers must ensure that each transaction is legal in both locations before completing the sale. Transactions for stun guns involving account holders outside the U.S. are prohibited. Other Related Items – PayPal allows transactions for paintball guns, blank guns, and air-soft guns as permitted by law in the applicable jurisdiction. These items must display all markings required by law, must not be convertible to shoot a lethal projectile, and must not include blank ammunition.

Oh okay, I gotcha. Well, that is in the PayPal TOS. It depends on several factors, like time you've been with PP, how much you've run through it, how many verified buyers you've paid/have paid you, for certain categories of transactions, I forget what all. Pretty simple solution to this one, just send with Delivery Confirmation that can be checked online. Free for online USPS Priority, for example. Or completely cover yer butt and send with sig required. At any rate, they aren't discriminating against YOU. Can only say that I've run probably about $100K through PayPal since it began (mostly as seller), and have had exactly 1 problem, a minor one where I got my money back as buyer. - OS

This is a great one, too. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnYvRGnbjSw[/ame]

You can buy anything but a gun itself with PayPal. But, back to Eye's issue: how much is the transaction FOR? I'm assuming you do quite a bit of eBay as seller? And I didn't understand the address problem -- you say the address IS confirmed? But incorrect? - OS

Well, got the Beltman Friday. Simply, it's everything I've heard, helluva piece of leather. Also got a key carrier, decided it would be nice to free up a pocket and my key collection has gotten somewhat unruly. I got the 1.5" incher, no internal stiffener and it seems to be adequate for anything I'll need. But I think I'll also get a 1.75 incher, too. Might be overkill, but its been a long time since I've had one like this, and even have a custom buckle for that size I might like to wear again. Anyway, I CERTAINLY recommend The Beltman's stuff. - OS
-
Amen, brother...just got my first beltman Friday...it's really super. I got the 1.5", and while it will hold anything I need it to, I thinking I might just go overkill and also get a 1.75 incher also. - OS

Mid-Tenn October Meet & Shoot -- Sunday, Oct 19th, 2008.
Oh Shoot replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Methinks that the "high arc" is much lower arc than one would assume. And the mortar analogy isn't all that pertinent, the weight of a mortar shell falling by gravity alone COULD kill you. Not to mention the explosion. - OS -
Even I get down there every 5 or 6 weeks; I'd show for sure if it coincides... - OS

Mid-Tenn October Meet & Shoot -- Sunday, Oct 19th, 2008.
Oh Shoot replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Okay, let's put it this way: a shot that has no more forward impetus, only vertical motion by falling, can't kill anyone. How's that? Point is, sure you can "shoot in the air", and kill somebody on a balcony, a rooftop, whatever. You can also kill someone as your bullet arcs downward within lethal range of your firearm, whatever that may be. Bullet is still moving forward. But a bullet falling down by gravity alone ain't "shooting" anybody. Now, I don't know an exact formula to predict at what angle a given bullet will "run out of steam" and fall down. I'm sure it depends on many factors, bullet weight, relative powder load, etc, but postulating straight up as 0° and straight out (level ground/horizon) as 45°, I'd guesstimate that somewhere at around 20° angle most bullets become "safe" by the time they hit the ground -- i.e., they have run out of lethal forward motion and are now only controlled by gravity and air resistance. Assuming you don't hit something first, like a helicopter, cell tower, hot air balloon, etc I've thought about your expanded hollow points that you found around the zoo. I don't know enough to declare, but seems like those babies must have been going a lot faster than the 200 mph or so that they would have been doing if they fell only by gravity. I'd suspect lower shots that still hit something there with forward motion. Maybe there are just that many shoot outs there around Park City, and that many missed shots. Scary. - OS -

Oh Shoot replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Think you might wanna restudy what you think you heard re that. Muzzle velocity on bullets are in the ballpark ranges of 1000 - 4000 fps which equates to apprx 680 to 2700 MPH. Falling objects vary a little according to air resistance at various altitudes, but somewhere around 200 mph is pretty much max within last couple miles of earth's atmosphere. If bullets fell by gravity at 900 - 3600 feet per second, the military would not need powder in the shells nor guns to fire them from planes and helicopters. They could just drop them! - OS -

Oh Shoot replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Oh, it's MUCH preferable for any errant shot to go directly into the ground. Always. Any caliber. Any time. Forgive me if you thought I was debating the OH safety "policy" vs. yours, as I was not. I was only reacting to the urban legendry of 70 people dying from "shots falling from the sky" in one day in Iraq. Those shots were not "bullets returning to the ground after celebratory gunfire" as per the OP, as in "falling from the sky", they were still under load from from the original gunpowder blasts of all the locals shooting every which way, including too shallow arcs "into the air". - OS
