Well, guys, you are mostly voting a one-issue ticket. Most here are going McCain for one reason only. Here's an irony...I don't know of many more conservative groups than FedEx contractors, and most of the ones I knew are well into firearms also. But as things fall apart for FedEx due to the federal class actions and the employee division being buried compared to UPS, FedEx contractors and employees are going overwhelmingly for Obama, as there is a MUCH better chance that Dem controlled Washington will repeal Railroad Labor Act and etc. So they are mostly one-issue voters also. My mom can't stand the idea of Palin becoming president, so is likely voting Democrat for the first time in her life. A couple of her friends are voting for McCain because of abortion issue (they say). But they have voted Demo in the past, and the Demo platform hasn't changed in that regard in many elections, so they real reason is that they won't vote for a black. And of course, this is the biggest (unspoken) single issue in the entire election. - OS

Read the statute, there is exception for gun shows on campus, or events, or something like that, didn't look up the exact verbiage. Of course, this does not mean carrying CONCEALED and/or LOADED, either. - OS

No serrations on barrel end of either of my semis, can't reach port holding other end; very clumsy way to rack either way trying to cover port. That prolly works ok with that long barrel 1911 in your avatar, as ejection port is well back from end of barrel... Doesn't work so hot with a 3" compact as your hand is likely to get in front of barrel trying to do that maneuver... - OS

I still do believe there's a test case there that might succeed, though. Besides "firearms" not being specifically mentioned in that statue reference, another tactic is: the law re carrying in public parks says you are not to do it with an attempt to go armed. And HCP is a defense to going armed. - OS

Only in a tautological (exercise in basic logic) sense. Certainly NOT in a realistic mathematical sense. However, the actual mathematical odds ARE knowable, at least after the fact of the drawing. On the shooting very much the same: 50% chance of going to jail is the "logical" answer. But actual odds are not really calculable, as are dependent on many variables, chiefly your behavior and the officers' directives and initial conclusions. Broad either/or arguments are simplistic and not generally logically defensive. Especially if based on logically indefensible premise. One of the classics? "Have you quit beating your wife?" Government involvement in education is THE primary reason our freedoms have been so eroded, as now generations of us have been conditioned to be "good Americans"... "There there, little sheep, your government is good, it will take care of you, give it more power in every aspect of your life....now here is your diploma"... No level of government, fed - state - local, should have ANYthing to do with education, should provide NO funding and NO guidelines as to methods or curriculum. The free enterprise system that we don't really have anymore would work it out within a decade and provide a far superior product than now exists, and at a lesser cost than the taxes allocated for schools now. Every totalitarian regime has first controlled the educational system and then information dissemination as a prerequisite to eventual chains. - OS

I don't perceive NPR's news staff as particularly "liberal", just eclectic, somewhat offbeat, always looking for an angle that hasn't been beat to death by more mainstream press, often seeking a personal microcosm within larger contexts, etc. Different strokes I reckon. - OS

Ummm...I don't know of any "political" shows on NPR. Matter of fact, except for Morning Edition and All Things Considered, which are daily news feature shows M-F, I can't think of any topical events programming at all, except those dealing with the arts. What are some of these "political oriented" shows of which you speak? - OS

XD SC 9 and Kahr PM9, about 50/50. Both with Remington GS 124gr +p. Because I'm told that's what the Knoxville police carry, and ballistic tests on it show as plenty adequate. Both guns have reliably eaten every brand/weight/shape I've fed them. edit: oh, SHOW them... Ok, here's actually same pic as my current avatar...I have also carried both the Ruger (.357 Golden Sabre) and the Charter (.38 Hornady regular pressure hollow point), and probably will some more, and can see you like wheelies, so left them in the pic - OS
