  1. If it was a Class A meanor, likely a prob, as existing HCPs are supposed to be suspended for duration of sentence, which includes any probation time.   Maybe it's a loophole that if you don't have permit when you were convicted, you could still get one, but wouldn't think so unless the vetting process didn't catch it.   - OS
  2.   I get a single click box market survey question, then rest of article loads.   - OS
  3.   "www.dmdc.osd.mil uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported."   It's part of de gummit, you expect it to get a "secure" https site right? ;)   - OS
  4.   But unlike all those, TWD has had solid writing that has risen well above "the hero always saves the day and doesn't die" cliches. Once you give the zedism itself your required suspension of disbelief, its strongest suit has been character development and interaction, all within the overarching theme of "no one is safe".   Indeed, the zombies themselves became of secondary interest for me by the third season at the latest, they're just the necessary ongoing background antagonist element that spurs the more interesting parts of the story along. I've said it before, but the quality of the writing could have supported any "apocalyptic" scenario as impetus, though admittedly the popularity of zombies certainly got things off to a more instant popularity than would have others.   Though various faves have survived plenty of close shaves, some dependent on fortuitous split second timing and whatnot, none have really risen to "oh, no way" levels. In short, we haven't been "tricked". But if Glenn is still alive, in this case it seems almost certain that we will have indeed been tricked by a dramatic cheap shot.   - OS

  9. I doubt if reliable enough data exists to compare suicide rates between contemporary vets vs say Vietnam, Korean, WWII, but one major difference in our contemporary armed forces is that there is no draft.   Meaning, I wonder if having a total volunteer makeup of the forces rather than a cross section of the military eligible population doesn't somehow attract a sample that's more prone to serious psychological problems from the gitgo, and then throw in the combat zone experience to acerbate things to boot.   And no, I don't mean you have to nuts to enlist :), but I do wonder if the all volunteer nature of the endeavor gets a higher share of ultimately suicide prone folks than either the population in general, or even previous military populations when the draft was in effect which included such a cross section of the general population.   - OS
  10.   That would be such low theater I might well give up on it.   Of course, if he's really alive, they could kill him off for sure in the next episode, which could be a saving grace double gotcha.   - OS

    Cheap Thrills

Well, you're only talking used guns with them, so don't know if that's in the spirit of the thing, as you can get a good deal on lots of heaters for under three bills.   - OS
  12.   I've already said it would be a really cheap shot to let Glenn get out of this one alive, so the author agrees with me. :)   Would harken back to the chintzy cliffhanger days of the many serials where the hero or damsel faces certain doom at the end of each episode but always prevails. The writers have thus far never resorted to this or any miracle deus ex machina type stuff to save a favorite, so I really don't expect them to start now.   But of course, I've been wrong 2 or 3 times in my life. ;) ;)   - OS
  13.   Well, a true solid single color isn't affected, but any given patch of sky or most anything else "solid color" in the real world is actually a mix of at the minimum hundreds of hues, and when many of them are resampled into just a few you get the patchwork look.   - OS
  14. I'm always impressed at the attempts for rational explanations of the zombie physiology. :)   - OS
  15. I'd say Maggie will be revealed to be preggers soon.   - OS
  16.   Meh, nothing "contaminates" any of these folks, 'cept a bite. Part of the nonsense biology of the whole thing.   And I think they made it plain Glenn is gone. Would be too cheap a cliffhanger shot to do otherwise after that scene.   - OS
  17.   If you mean Rick, I think he was cut somehow with the knife breaking? Or on the machete thing he picks up?   - OS

    Cheap Thrills

I'm assuming handgun, since that's the forum in which posted? Otherwise sure, include Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60 and many others.   But as far as handguns,  Hi-Point stands alone in the >200 range, but >300 brings in a number of other heaters, all debatable about "best" depending on caliber and other criteria.   A lot of the NAA stuff comes in under the 300 limit, for example. Quality of construction would be among one of the "best" in this regard, for example.   And we're talking new price, not used, which opens up more.   - OS
  19. Your monitor needs color calibration. :)
  20.   Well, it's only realistic in the context of a mass extinction, compared to lots of other scenarios that would qualify as "apocalyptic" .   - OS
  21. Drop prices by 25%?   - OS
  22.   Yep. But jeez,  one "centerfire" qualifier wasn't enough for ya? ;)   - OS
  23. They still make it. All the centerfire Blazer, unless branded "Blazer Brass", is aluminum cased. Bunch of different calibers. Basically, anything in the box that looks like this: - OS
  24.   Yeah, I've always considered 124gr +p to be the sweet spot, mainly because that's essentially NATO standard even though it's not a HP.   - OS
  25. Apparently started at 1/10th of a cent.   Here's an interesting compilation I found, with pictures. Not definitive, but seems to have started sometime in the 1940's.   http://www.ducks2k.com/duckcat/HUNT/TNAM.HTM   - OS
