Places that seem to be a good hiding place also seem to be some of the first place that BG's look. I have such a place. It is my safe! It is not a high dollar safe but it won't be carried out and it would take a bit of time to get into it for experienced thieves. I don't have any long guns but I bought a long gun safe and not just a cube type. We keep most everything of value that cane easily go into it. Jewelry, laptops, camera equipement, prescription meds, etc. you name it and it goes in there. Of course any handguns that I don't have on my hip along with the ammo. Also after we had our breakin in '06 we upgraded our alarm so that there will not be a way to get in or be in our house without setting off the alarm. Cutting the power and phone lines will not disable it. I am worried about real estate agents that are not as attentive as they should be and allow potential customers to freely roam thru the house without supervision. Even though we have the majority of our good stuff locked up there are still things that we leave out that I would not want to have stolen. I'm not looking forward to the day that we list our house. Sorry about your sister's gun. I had a S&W 686 stolen in our breakin. I reported it to the NPD and, believe it or not, I got a letter 18 months later that it had been recovered and I got it back. Everyone has done it, post about something that is already being/has been discussed. Violators incur the wrath of the other members but usually in a humorous way that I don't believe is intended to belittle the offender in any way. Any number of posts will pop up saying "Got Search" or other forms of the same. I use the search feature but sometimes have far less than acceptable results. What is the best way to do a search here on TGO? Options are "Show Threads" or "Show Posts" and "Advanced Search". What is the best way to search? Single words, phrases? I would love to hear you guys that are very good at finding older posts tell us an easy way to search out these posts. I've been on here for quite a while and I'm asking for this as much for me as all of the new guys that come here to enjoy the discussions. Thanks for the help.

That is very sad news. My prayers are with his family and friends. DC is one of my favorite shows but I can't explain why. Heck they just throw off pot after pot and then pull them back in. Living in Nashville and in an apartment, you should know of all of the crime that happens in most every area of town in the apartment complexes. I get crime reports from my councilman nearly every day that comes from the South Precinct. The Police have a huge focus on all apartments in this area because of the high numbers of crimes committed there. You should get with the councilman in your district and see if you can get the same reports. I don't think that you would have been as quick to leave the door unlocked had you read the reports that I have been reading for the last couple of years. I think that you are very lucky that you didn't get shot or have to shoot the guy.

It's just like anything else. I am not interested in a DAO but others only want it. I want a small DA/SA but there are guys that would not have one. There is nothing wrong with either. It's just a personal preference. To each his own.

Splitting the difference between Nashville and Chattanooga would be.......Winchester. Probably part of the reason for the first show being there. The Boro is only 20 miles past the Davidson County line

Well if you are looking to "Put down roots" Then I would suggest somewhere in the Nashville area (including a 30-40 mile radius of Nashville). There is a high concentration of members in all of the major TN cities but the Nashville area is a central location and while not an easy drive it would be a good day trip from Memphis, Jackson, Knoxville and Chattanooga. Upper East TN would probably have to be an overnighter unless someone really like to do a lot of driving in the same day. Knoxville would be an option and would include East TN but probably eliminate Memphis and Jackson. There will not be a choice that will please everyone but I know you guys will do your best.

Well I'm in Nashville so naturally I would like to see one held somewhere in middle TN but that's not fair to the Memphis, East TN and Chattanooga members. Have you guys thought about a floating location so that everyone in the state has an opportunity to attend without it being such a big commitment to try to attend? Have one in each major area of the state every quarter.

Just looked at the TDOT cameras for Memphis and the interstates look relatively clear. My brother drives a truck from Nashville to Memphis and back everyday so your weather there interests me. TDOT Smartmap

Good job Alpha7. I too send out emails and make calls to offices. Many here and on other forums feel that it is a waste of time. It may be but I also feel that it is our responsibility to contact them with our thoughts and opinions on matters that are important to us. Personally, I believe that is how our elected officials have gotten so out of control. We have not kept them honest. They have felt for years that we are not watching so they have done as they pleased. That has to change. I try to do my part. Thanks for doing yours and keep it up!
