  1. Almost 2 years ago I got involved in volunteering to help out with some of the cleanups around our council district in Nashville (D-30). One thing lead to another and I was enjoying the feeling of making a small difference in the appearance of the community. I was asked to take the position of Beautification Commissioner for D-30 and I decided to take it. (Non-paying position). I help to organize special trash collection days, bulk item collections, hazzardous waste collections, etc., working with neighborhood groups and obtaining supplies from Metro Public Works. I help to get garbage picked up that gets dumped on the side of the road such as old furniture and other debris. I pull down illegal signs from the light poles, sign posts and from the right-of-way, sometimes as many as 200 a week. I have also been very active in fighting the graffiti problem in my district. I don't seek out recognition but I have been written up a few times in the Tennessean about my efforts. I was just wondering if anyone here would like to lend a hand. There is supposed to be 1 Beautification Commissioner for each council district but some are vacant at this time. I can get you in touch with the Commissioner in your District if there is one or you can volunteer for the position which is appointed by the mayor. If you live in my district I would be glad to get some help. Just send me a PM and I'll get you started. Only do what you have time for. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Here is what I did this morning. Here are a before and after picture of a privacy fence that is on Bart Dr in Antioch. It was tagged over the weekend and I try to get it covered ASAP but had to wait thru a couple of rainy days before I could tackle this problem. They also tagged 2 other sections on the front and other side of the house, about 120' total. Took about 4 hours. I have had this fence tagged about 8 times in the last 18 months. There is another a few blocks for this one that has been tagged about 12 times. Sometimes they only have a small "work of art" on them that may only take 5 or 10 minutes but then today was the other extreme.
  2. I've never been to the show in Hendersonville. Is it an RK show? Are they better than Goodman's shows? (Wouldn't take much for that!) Where is it located in Hendersonville?
  3. Fortunately I work for a guy who is all for me carrying while I work. It's a retail grocery store here in Nashville. I've been there part time for going on 2 years and have never had to pull it yet but I know that could change any day. I do carry concealed and I've only told 2 customers that I'm packing and I've been to the range with one of those. Some of my co-workers don't even know it.
  4. Wow! One of Rabbi's old threads dug back up!
  5. I wonder if the airlines that you are on would assist in this? Once you know that you are being diverted and you notified the flight crew that you have a checked gun in you luggage and the new location is not gun friendly. This would be a question for someone with the airlines. Being diverted doesn't mean that you have to go site seeing around that city. You likely would never even see you checked baggage. I guess that you can tell that I've not flown too much in my lifetime and you guys who have spent your careers in jobs requiringf extensive travel would know a lot more than I about flights being diverted. I've probably only flown 12-15 times.
  6. Check out a CZ 2075 BD Rami. Awesome little guns!
  7. Pets of any kind become a part of the family. I understand your pain.
  8. As a responsible gun owner and permit holder I look at it as my responsibility to do the proper research into the laws of the states that I plan to travel and know what to expect. Even though I have never had any desire to go to NYC I do know that they are anti-gun. There have been a a few stories in the news lately of this happening and even to a TN woman who had her HCP in TN. I hope that she can also have the charges reduced and not have to spend time in the slammer.

  10. I just sent my Councilman an email about this since his name is on the list above.

    RECOIL WOW!

$40 a rd is just a bit out of my range!
  12. I hate to pay the $8 just to walk around. I can do that at G&L or Franklin Gun shop if I want to see a lot of guns.
  13. I ask if they have an HCP and every sale that I have made has been to someone who has one.
  14. I used a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver. Scored 100% not that it means I'm a great shot but rather how simple the requirements are.
  15. Yeah and so was BHO and we see what we got with that!
  16. Why don't the stores in Nashville sell guns?
  17. I think we have The Andy Griffith Show to thank. They taught people that LEO's couldn't be trusted to have enough sense to carry a loaded weapon and should keep their bullets in their pockets until needed.
  18. I haven't had my 1st day of Seal training and I know better than that! Maybe a Seal newbie but they are supposed to be the best of the best and should have known this long ago!
  19. I would hate to have spent my hard earned money to go watch that game as a Clemson fan. I've been to 3 big bowls as a Tennessee fan, '85 Sugar Bowl, the '90 Cotton Bowl and the National Championship game at the '99 Fiesta Bowl. They all turned out well for UT but I can sure imagine what those fans in attendence felt last night!
  20. Sitting here watching the Sugar Bowl but it just ain't the same without an SEC team. I hate the way all of these last bowls are spread out anyway. Too bad both teams can't lose!
