Tennessee house bill to push back against gun legislation
Volzfan replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Rep. Carr is getting a lot of corrospondence urging him to change the penalty from a misdemeanor to a felony. His response has been that he could do that but it may not have as much of a chance of passing. I hope he changes it to put some real teeth into the bill. Come out and meet Rep. Carr Saturday. I'm a member of the DCRP (Davidson County Republican Party) and every month we have a breakfast at Shoney's in the Hickory Hollow area for the Southeast DCRP. This month Rep. Carr will be speaking and with his recent gun bill I thought that some of you may want to show up and hear what he has to say about this. Most of the hour should be Q&A. We start gathering for breakfast @ 8am and the meeting will start at 9am. To get this room we had to agree to have attendees spend at least $8 so most will just get the breakfast bar and that will more than cover it. Other than spending a little with our host restaurant there are no other costs for attending. This breakfast is a regular monthly event (3rd Sat. morning each month) and you are invited to come any time. Lots of interesting speakers.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 16, 2013 State Representative Joe Carr 48TH Legislative District Lascassas, TN. State Representative Joe Carr, from Tennessee's 48th District filed legislation Tuesday, House Bill 0042, that would charge any Federal agent with a Class A Misdemeanor for enforcing or attempting to enforce a federal law, statute, rule, regulation or executive order that bans, restricts or requires the registration of any semi automatic firearm, firearm accessory or ammunition. "In light of recent comments and actions taken by President Obama and Vice President Biden, I believe it is necessary that Tennessee proactively promote, maintain and defend Tennessee's sovereignty guaranteed to it in the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. Additionally this most blatant assault on the 2nd Amendment by the Obama Administration is a systematic effort to disarm the law biding citizens of the United States. The 2nd Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights which was intended to protect the individual and the states from the tyranny of government," stated Representative Carr. Carr also said, "The 2nd Amendment is not meant just for hunters, it specifically states that 'A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed', therefore, the Federal government shall not through law or executive order infringe upon our Constitutional-given rights as citizens of the United States and the Great State of Tennessee." Recently, Carr announced the formation of the 10th Amendment Caucus, a group he co-founded with State Representative Judd Matheny from Tennessee's 47th District. The Caucus will be focused on advancing the Constitutional requirement for states to maintain, promote and defend the 10th Amendment. Additionally, Carr is the architect and author of almost all Illegal Immigration laws in Tennessee. Due to his efforts, Tennessee has some of the strongest enforceable immigration laws in the United States. Weak response from Senator Jim Cooper
Volzfan replied to lil*pup's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The people who keep Cooper in office are the welfare leeches that will never vote him out as long as he can keep them firmly attached to the government tit! The rest of us that he represents are just ignored because he doesn't need us. He's a Vandy grad who thinks that he knows whats best for us and will never open his mind to ideas that are opposed to those of the Democratic leadership in DC. Canned responses are probably the best we can ever expect from him. Logic and common sense are not something that can ever be expected from him. -

Cooper is only a puppet with those at the top of the D party pulling his strings. He's useless! -
