  1. I did my part yesterday and voted. I had to wake up the poll workers. I went at 4pm. My mother-in-law's sister works my polling place. She said that they had only had 45 people come thru. That's sorry!
  2. That's why I stated that I foolishly cancelled the police. I had not been gone 3 minutes and figured that I had screwed up and not completely secured all of the doors. Had I let them send the Police I surely would have not gone in until they arrived. I checked the perimiter and saw no sign of forced entry before I went in. Had Police been able to get there before me I would have seen their car and not just run in with gun drawn. This episode proves that I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but give me a little credit. My main point of the story was that I was able to keep my emotions in check in this situation.
  3. I am not sure why she was being evicted but if anyone living there is caught with drugs they can get booted out. She was listed as a defendant on the paper I got back with the gun. She probably had another charge against her after finding the gun in her apt.
  4. The alarm company that installed the system told me that thieves will usually break out a glass in a door or window to gain entry so he said that in the great room all that would be necessary would be a glass breakage detector. The guys that broke in used a screwdriver or something like one, and simply pried the window open. This was a new home when we bought it in '99. The windows are the double pane style and are not very solidly built. When they applied a little pressure the 4 screws holding the two window locks just pulled out and the window was open. Without contacts on the window the alarm was not set off. If I would have used a little common sense, I would have realized that and had contacts put on all of the windows to begin with instead of after the breakin. That's what I get for taking the word of a "Professional Alarm Salesman". There was no motion sensor because we had a small house dog that would have set it off.
  5. There is not an option that fits me. I was raised in the Methodist church with parents that are still deeply religious. They left the Methodist church about 30 years ago to begin attending a non denominational church here in Nashville where they still attend, health permitting. I followed the same path but do not currently attend and have not for about 10 years now. I am a christian and have no doubt in my mind that if I died today that I would be in heaven. I am comfortable with my life outside of a church. I am not perfect by any strech of the imagination but no one is. I simply don't think that being in a church is what saves us. I just strive to be a good and compassionate person.
  6. Fixed that for you! I had a beard from '78 to '91. Had to shave it for a new job. I quit that job in '01 and grew back a goatee. Still have it and keep it cut short. I think a 3 setting on my trimmer.
  7. He has been booted from TGO. He has his own forum at www.tncivilsociety.com
  8. I bet her phone is ringing off the hook with Slick Willie Clinton wanting to be her VP!
  9. Well, I had just left the house this afternoon to go get my wife at her office and as I was getting on the interstate I got a call from my alarm monitoring company telling me that my alarm had just been activated. In December of '06 we had a breakin where the guys were able to get around my system ($800 upgrade with insurance money) and stole about 10k worth of our things including my S&W 686. When we got home that Sat. evening the BG's were still in the house. Fortunately they choose to leave rather than confront us. They could not have been out more than 10-15 seconds as we came in. That is when I decided to get my carry permit! Well today I foolishly told the monitoring company caller to cancel the police and that I would turn back and check it out. I didn't understand that he said that the zone that activated was the glass breakage detector in the kitchen. I had figured that I had not securely closed all of the doors and the air conditioner forced a door open that was not completely closed. We have a contact on the door from the kitchen to the garage and that is what I thought was not closed good. Well as I got to the house I was second guessing cancelling the police but I had my new XD 40 on my side. As I entered the house, gun drawn, I checked the living area and could see that there was no one there. It turned out to be a simple false alarm caused by that glass breakage monitor. I have wondered what my emotions would be in that type of situation. I was remarkably composed. No racing heart beat no hyperventalating. I am sure that had I opened the door and seen someone there I could/would have shot . That is really something that I hope I never have to face but I guess that I got a little preview of how I would react. By the way, I got my 686 back about 4 months ago. The Nashville Sherriff's Dept recovered it while evicting a girl from the projects.

    S&W- M&P .40

I just bought a Springfield XD40 compact. My choice was between it and the S&W M&P 40. From everything that I was told it sounded to me like either choice would be a good choice and I wound up with the XD. I got to shoot it last weekend @ Guns & Leather and it never missed a beat. I shot an M&P 9mm there (had some 9mm rounds to get rid of) and really liked the way it shot.
  11. We were told that if shooting a revolver that the state required us to shoot DA only. I was shooting a hammerless Taurus .357 and had no choice but to shoot DA. Didn't matter, I hit them all. I think that you would have to really try hard not to pass!
  12. Most of my stuff is NASCAR. I personally got autographs from Dale Sr. Rusty, Cale Yarborough, Ned Jarrett, Mark Martin, DW, Bobby Hamilton Sr., Kenny Wallace, Dale Jarrett, Ken Schrader, Mike Waltrip, Jeff Gordon, Ernie Irvan, Robert Yates, Rick Hendrick, Larry McReynolds, Mike Wallace and I have the goggles that were worn by the NASCAR flagman, Doyle Ford, at the Brickyard in 1996 when Dale Jarrett won. Doyle signed them for me. This is most of my stuff. I never wanted an item with an autograph that I didn't get myself. Oh, I have a picture of Dale Earnhardt coming out of the bathroom before the start of the Southern 500 @ Darlington in 1995. Doyle Ford got me into the garage for pre-race and I got to stay in the pits for the race, WITHOUT credentials! That would not happen today. Oh yea, I got Chocolate Myers autograph too. I don't expect this stuff to be worth anything to anyone else but I enjoyed getting them all and would not want to part with it. That is unless someone wants to give me $500 for the Earnhardt picture! Someone would have to be a real DE nut to pay that but if they wanted it that bad I would let it go. i don't expect to run across anybody that would want it THAT bad!

    Boo Hoo

  14. That guy looks like a cousin of mine! That is also something that I would expect from him. He has been pretty good at failing sobriety tests over the years.
  15. Thanks! That's great to know.
  16. I would rather go to the race but I don't have tickets and I do have tickets to the game. Like I said I would be happy to trade.

Don't hold back! Tell us what you really think.
  19. I am a Titans season ticket holder but I sure hate shelling out regular season price for these two preseason games. They usually suck but since i have two paid for i guess that I'll go unless someone wants to trade me two tickets for the truck race.
