1500 would be "ok" if it were an early standard and had all military parts in it. If it is all SAI parts then 1200 is more in the ballpark IMO.

I have one on right now. I was shocked at how accurate I can shoot this little gun. I found .380 last week in Mount Juliet... Jimdigriz didnt call the right place.

I use the Arms 22 mounts and Med rings on my M1A. I do use a cheek piece as well. Nice combo Imo. Sadlak aslo make an excellent mount but cost more $$$. Their Airborne mount is baddass... Scope Mount Brookfield Style, M14/M1A Sadlak Industries

M1A is hard to beat.... but a bolt gun is fun too. Kinda like comparing a corvette Z06 to a Viper SRT to a car guy. You cant go wrong either way for what you want to do IMO.

Small show with most of the regular vendors of the area. But, I did pick up a few things. I expected to leave empty handed but did find a few things: a box of 1943 M2 Ball.30 - for my M1 Garand collector stuff. A USGI MRT 12-86 leather sling ( for a M40A1 build) kinda rare. and a few other things. The sling was the score for me as I am working on a M40A1 build.

I do know that one of the GCA Board members is a TN fella.... maybe we can get a local GCA chapter. There was also talk of TGO getting on CMP's club list... I would really like to see that happen. That is good news Froggy I may be up in that part of the State on business that week. If so i will extend my stay and check out the match. carrothospital headspace is how the bolt, receiver, and chamber "fit together". If the headspace is not within spec you can have major issues and in some cases the rifle will not be "safe to shoot". The CMP rifles are checked for proper headspace before they are put on the sales racks. They use the Go, No-Go, and field gauges to assure that the rifle will be safe to shoot. Others say that they only field gauge a rifle but I do the same as CMP and use all three gauges to check a rifle. If I place a different bolt in a rifle that I am building I will check the headspace as well just to be safe. Rut ro you have the M1 bug? I have the M1 Garand sickness. Yes, CMP is your best best for a rifle that will shoot safely and cost th least. The CMP folks will help you out. You can measure the muzzle and throat erosion for the ones that they have in stock. Muzzle under 3 and TE less than 5 is "in spec". If you buy one local the you dont know where it has been. I headspace the garands that I have that did not come from CMP. .. just to be safe. Correct on the ammo... Milsurp is the best and cheapest way to go when they have it in stock. If you are there and they have it in stock...then load up. You can shoot commercial ammo with an adjustable gas plug but I have yet to do that since the surplus ammo shoots well and cost less. If you want a collector M1 that has matching WWII parts then you will spend much more for one set up like that, of course. WWII era parts are going for quite a bit of $$$ these days. I would hate to say what Paid for a set of typeI Lockbar sights for my all correct 1942 M1. More than CMP wants for an entire rifle. Since you are local I will offer to let you shoot one of my M1's at the local range ..if you want to try one out before you buy. There are several Garand guys on here so I am sure that others will chime in. If you have not joined the Garand Collectors Association or an acceptable CMP club then you will need to do so before you go to CMP to buy.

It does seem that 50 at one time may be too many. I will try 25 next time. I used brass that has been loaded five times with out any cleaning (except primer hole cleanup with the Lee cheap tool). Now after the swim in the tank... They are as clean inside as out... and for time time that it took I am pleased. I did not use a beaker..so I cleaned them on thier side and then stood them up in a group for a few cycles. There is a plastic basket in the bottom that kept them from touching the metal bottom. Come to think of it the noise is not that bad either. I meant to take before pic's but forgot... O'well after pics Thanks for the link with the info Froggy2

The 1st 50 are in the tank now. 50 may be too many but I will start there and see how it goes.

S&W M29 4-inch barrel that came in the factory walnut box. It was a shooter and I should ahve kept it.

I picked up the one in the link above at lunch. Then off to kroger for baking soda, White Vinagar, and Distilled water. I could not find a beaker but it looks like the machine will work without a beaker If it will then I will try a test run tonight. I was going to start cleaning brass tonight anyway so what better time to experimnet ?

I hope to make it to Harbor Freight at lunch and see if they have a machine in stock.

I kinda like the looks of this too... If I could get a cleaner that would clean 50 .308 cases at a time I would do it. I clean the outside of the cases "fair" put I always see the dirty inside of the cases and it pisses me off, "neat freak" LOL Froggy do you have a setup like this or are you going to put one together? I would like to know which machine you have or are considering.
