Yea but for a decent one that I would stake my survival on I could spend that money and build out one he'll of a truck with new drive train in it. -
I see a Dillion xl 650 on the horizon!!
Uh no. -

Good buy. You'd be hard pressed to build one like that for close to the money
Thank you. I really didn't know it was that good of a deal until I got it home. I knew it was a good rifle, just not that good.

I've never had any issues with any caliber of the Monarch, brass or steel.
Monarch is all I buy now. Best price and have ZERO issues out of it.

I think we need to organize a club meet somewhere and get together to have a club shoot. Somewhere on private property where we will not bother or clog up a public range. I have no land myself sizeable enough to host such an event, but is anyone interested and is someone willing to supply a venue in which to host it?

Of course eventually all vehicles will be useless. But in the beginning which are the most crucial hours, days, weeks, and even months is what I am talking about. Something that can push through carry/ tow and is very off road capable is what is on my list. Diesel seems like the most viable engine choice being that it can run on such a variety of easy to find fuels given you have plethora of spare fuel filters and a crude way of cleaning dirty fuel. Getting out is ofcourse the hardest part and getting paired up with a group of like minded individuals is of course key to survival. But I think for the start I would want a short bed 4x4 truck that has 33" tires and some decent bumpers winch and cb radio.

Yep, I remember my first. I wanted ONE just to have ONE. Then another showed up , then I built one, then I built one from leftover parts, then......
It's a disease! I really like those S&W rifles, you done good.I hear they are like rabbits, they multiply like crazy. I might need to get this on neutered to keep that from happening.

Man, what a great deal! My first AR was an M&P too and boy was I excited! Congrats on your first of many  (yep, it's true)
Suggestions? Imagine what you think you wanna put on it, write it down on paper in an envelope and seal it for a year. One year from now, open it and bet you a dollar you say "Damn, what was I thinking wanting all that heavy crap on there?" HA HA But seriously, you have yourself an adult lego set, enjoy it.
Actually the whole tacticool thing does not appeal to me at all. I don't want a gun loaded up with useless goodies. I like plain and simple and useful upgrades. 45 degree sights with 6 grips and 12 different sights lasers light shows with enough flashlight to land an airplane does not appeal to me at all. I am thinking all I may do is put an angled forward grip.

So I was down in Harriman, TN at a local pawn shop just browsing when I came across and AR smith and Wesson labeled as being a .223 for $600. I asked to look at it and in closer inspection it was a 5.56 smith and Wesson m&p 15. Troy rear flip sight and front A sight. Quard rail with a 30 round p mag and 6 position stock. It has some small scratches on the barrel but I could not pass up on the price. After showing her the scratches and how dirty it was she knocked it down to $502- $560 OTD with a box of ammo. I get home with it and do some research and it is a M&p15x which MSRP is $1300! She told me she had priced it herself off of what she saw online and she priced it as a Sport model. Then gun is in great shape all cleaned up (apart from the small scratches) and I am going to shoot it this Saturday. Any suggestions, comments, concerns for a first time AR owner?

So far my survival vehicle is a 4x4 full sized v8 truck. 33" mud terrain tires. Has push bumper up front with a CB radio. Single cab short bed so it is still maneuverable, plus I have my camper to tow for housing and extra storage.

Was wondering what kind of vehicle or accessories should be necessary on a survival car or truck.

There was never any requirement to inform even before the new law.

That's what I thought but today in my HCP class the video from the state said you had to. It was made in 2010
-
So I was wondering what the exact stipulations were concerning a traffic stop and you obligation to let an officer know if you are armed.
1 being if you are a HCP holder do you have to let them know
2 with the new no permit in a vehicle law does it cover this subject?

Just wanting to get some opinions on it from those who have shot and owned one. I am planning on making it my carry gun. Thanks for the help.

Thank you everyone for your insight.

I think I may mosey on over today on the last day. Never been to one before. Are these a cash only deal or do they take other forms of payment?

Well this has gotten off topic from what I had intended.

Doubtful. Would need so much resources that it would make more sense to build a big walled fort on the Mississippi river.
