Depends on what walmart is getting the ammo for from their dist. or from the manufacturer.
-
I have absolutely no problem paying the higher prices that I have been for ammo when I go to the store an find some, because ammo has been going up in price at the store. I think these so caller 'out-of-the-closet-socialist' aren't attacking the free market; this conversation is more in the direction of personal ethics more than whether the free market gives someone the right to take advantage of others. Here are the established facts: Demand has gone up. Supply cannot keep up with demand. Dealers have in turn been raising the price of ammo to reflect the increase in demand. Then there are scalpers buying up ammo to turn a quick profit. Because many scalpers are repeating their practices on a regular basis, we know that they have at least had an effect on demand. The true impact is unkown because there isn't sufficient data to make a conclusion, but there is at least some impact since this is such a common complaint. Of course, when one looks into reseller sites and sees the amount of supply available there at inflated prices on a regular basis, it is easy to come to quick conclusions about their impact. Many here are arguing that demand would not be so high if there weren't scalpers. Which is true because we know that people are out there scalping. But their impact to demand is questionable because none of us are going to research the issue because we have lives and no time to worry. In this thread and other's, have posted examples where scalpers reqularly attempt to monopolize local supply with the intention of taking advantage of others. I personally believe it is unethical to intentionally take advantage of others.

SSD FTW!!!! My laptop boots up in about 15 seconds from a shut down with that sucker! :hyper:

Sorry, I didn't realize that taking advantage of others is ethical to some people. :tinfoil:

I am a huge proponent of Free-Market Capitalism. I am also a huge proponent of Ethics. My :2cents: on Scalping common goods (or as some incorrectly called price-gouging): (Please do not read this unless you understand that this post is NOT directed at anyone, and the intention is purely to freely express my censored opinion in this subject) What value have Scalpers added to the ammunition that justifies reselling it to others at an inflated price? Besides getting first in line and not intending to use it.... I personally don't like the feeling I get when people justify screwing...er....scalping other people over with the words 'but it's the free market'. Seems like this is a common defense I see either on the internet or on tv when people openly justify scalping. Makes me sick to my stomach that I praise such a system on a daily basis. There is nothing ethical about taking advantage of others; scalping practices such as reselling ammo as well as other common good that are difficult to aquire drives the resentment many people have for capitalism. This makes it very hard for people to promote free market ideas. Why would anyone who truely loves the free market engage in practices that would deter people from supporting such a great system? ...other than to make a quick and short personal gain at the expence of others... I love capitalism to death. I hate when people justify unethical behavior by hiding behind 'the free market'. :usa: Also, I strongly apologize if this comes off as a rant...... :stalk:

I've been looking at land for quite a while and am (hopefully) going to have a few acres before the end of the year. One of the things I'm looking into is building a root cellar. I have even given some consideration to just burying a shipping crate into the side of a hill. Anyone here have a root cellar you are willing to share to help me get some ideas? :hat:

Federal Gas Tax Hike from $0.184 to $1.40 per gallon?
Ted S. replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, may as well try and get ahead of the trend and buy a fancy mountain bike and a lot of tires and intertubes! -
I refuse to buy ammo from scalpers to be completely honest. I also won't refrain from giving scalpers a peice of my mind for what they are doing if I were to catch them peddling ammo at a premium.

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Ted S. replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Not on this end. I've been looking at Haslam's Facebook page because it occasionally post updates on the bills he has signed. Nothing on this bill, but plety of people flooding that page about the Ag-gag bill. -
It's pretty sweet if you can find it for $50 or less. I saw one somewhere for $70 and about crapped my pants, but the finish was different than the matte black I have. If Preemtion ever passes I will be looking to get a Benchmade 581 since Auto knives still won't be legalized... :shake:

Hopefully. I'm more worried about what could happen in a worse case scenario: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sunearth/news/X-class-flares.html

Well, if one of those suckers hits the US, I may me out of a job..... :ugh:

Also saw a distiller kits and components in there................... :usa:

Look into spring assisted knives, they are legal for civilian carry since the action is initiated from the blade and not the handle from my understanding. Other than that they are pretty nice if you need to open a knife and you only have one hand available. The Kershaw Leek has been my EDC for over a year; the spring assisted function comes in handy quite a bit.

43¾'' is a big knife. :usa:

I'm sure at least some of it's up, but I'm not too sure.

A whole new level of civil disobedience....
Ted S. replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
My thoughts exactly, minus CNN specifically. I think something like this would be fine, if two million show up, 1,999,999 may be there to peacefully support the Second Amendment; but it only takes that one idiot\tool\sheep to reverse the message. -
I've been hearing about this for years on Coast to Coast AM. People like to dismiss the show because they talk about some 'out there' stuff, but you will be amazed when you see stuff you hear on Coast to Coast AM pop up in the mainstream news days, weeks, and sometimes months after Coast to Coast AM reports it. Awesome radio program.

I think it would just be easier to pull phone conversations or order histories from the businesses that sell the stuff.

I threw a bunch of seeds in some mud the other day. Gonna see if something happens.

I think I will stick to TN Gun Country. I haven't had one negative experience, then won't scalp for ammo when they do have it in, and it's closer to me that anything other than Allen's.

24hrs for a port isn't bad at all. I've probably been out of service so long that someone else is walking around with my number! Glad to hear it is working for you well so far. This seems like a viable alternative if I ever end up needing a phone again. Keep us posted if anything turns the other way.

hmmmm, I may be interested in procuring one of these style knives in a few months..........

.... I have the feeling the only thing that can fix this mess is for free-market constitutional libertarians to run the gov for a few decades. :usa:
