    My first AR

The madness has begun.   Just gonna leave this stuff here.......   http://www.magpul.com/   http://www.jprifles.com/   Forearms   Parts   Just for some literature...there are cheaper sites to get parts... :leaving:
  3. State trooper is smoking something if that's what he wants to claim. What a nutter.
  4. If you want exceptional customer service every time, go to chic fil a. Never been to one where several workers hadn't asked me whether or not I had or needed to be helped. Outside of that, all hope is lost.
  5. Nope. Too much stuff going on, and my Subaru is hardly an import, nor is it impressive.
  6. Just finished an 80 hour week and got the seventh day as a "standby". I also already have a three hour round trip commute and get up an hour before I leave. If I can do it, anyone can. Just enjoy the OT while it lasts. Good jobs are hard to come by, and the extra cash never hurts either. Good luck in the weeks to come.

    AR 15

Crap man, didn't even catch that one.
  8.   Pretty much this. The value of any AR, name brand or not, really depends on the market. Buy any AR about a year and a half ago, and the absolute ####tiest cheapest AR anyone could buy would generally go for over $1000. Right now the market seems to be oversaturated with ARs, and if you ask anyone selling one or look at the classifieds here, they aren't exactly moving at warp speeds or selling anywhere near the original asking price. Supply and demand has a lot more weight in prices than people give it credit for these days.   If you're concerned about selling it, and you want to feel safe about it retaining as much value as possible, go with an expensive name brand and do not modify or add any parts to the rifle other than an optic. Rarely go to the range, and clean it before and after you go there. Keep it in a nice case or in a safe, and take extra care not to damage the finish.   If you aren't worried about selling in the future, build your own, have fun, and save some money (if you already have all the tools!).

    AR 15

Or something like this. Free floats may be great, but they are pricey and require a bit of knowlege about working on ARs (which isn't really hard once you learn the platform). But for your first AR, I'd recommend KISS until you go to the range a few times, then start looking into free floats, adjustable gas blocks, FCG modifications or upgrades, etc., etc.   This platform can get expensive fast Dave, so I strongly recommend trying a few ARs out before you buy to see what you like. Nonetheless, for a basic starter that's already built, that Ruger OS posted looks as good as any and at a great price.
  10. Did you hear about Glock's decision to stop making fugly guns? Yeah...me neither.
  11. If I was worried about a pandemic (and I'm not), I would just do what TMF suggested. I wouldn't risk going to public places. I don't trust breathable tyveks/suits nor do I trust filter-based respirators for anything immediately life threatening, such as biohazards, contagions, aerasolized pathogens, etc. If your ppe can breath and doesn't have its own self-contained air supply or active air purifier, you run a lot of risks. Much cheaper to stock up in supplies, and come up with a "dig in" or "bug out" plan than getting proper ppe for a pandemic.
  12.   Been a reality since before I was born. :shhh:
  13.   Works the same way. This is why I have a problem with rationalism.
  14. $7.50 for two hours, but if it's slow they don't care how long you stay.
  15.   After all the stats and statistics heavy classes I did in college...that's pretty accurate. Remember, if you don't like the results from your sample, just throw it out, start with a new sample, and burn any left over evidence.
  16. The TWRA range is a bit of a drive, but it's the only one that I know of that's 400yds and close to Clarksville:   http://www.shoottn.org/
  17. Very interesting: illustrates "correlation ≠causation." Found this posted on Unbiased America's facebook page: Spurious Correlations There are several examples.
  18. The only thing that scares me about ebola is how disgusting most people can be without realizing it.
  19. Demand. Why do pick ups, for example, keep getting bigger? Just think of a new F150 vs a twenty year old F150. The competitions' newer models "look" more like a new F150 than a twenty year old F150 does.
  20. I think my stag came with a cheap...er, "stock" A2, and it was fine. I believe some places may sell build your own kits for less. EDIT: Cheap isn't the best word. The sight kit itself goes for $65 - carry handle.
  21. How old is your computer? And what operating system?
  22. Well, when it gets down to it, the most OCD of us will just have the black ones cerakoted.   I do see an opportunity opening up for a third party to buy the black mags in bulk and color to order, but only time will tell.
  23. You need bigger knives.
  24. Seems legit.
