1. Doing ghost tours in new places I visit is one of my favorite touristy thing to do. Not because of ghosts, cause I have yet to experience anything like that first hand, but because you get unusual pieces of history and entertainment at the same time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
2. I remain neutral on the subject. Thousands of years of stories and new ones showing up all the time. I do think there are fields of science that are taboo and do not get really explored because of the potential for being laughed out of the scientific community. That said, I work with a guy that was an amateur ghost hunter, who through correspondence with the Ghost Hunters that you see on TV, was invited to go on a ghost hunt with them. Others at my work have verified his invitation and absence from work. He also has some pictures of getting to meet the team and TV crew that accompanies them. This was in Louisiana, if my memory serves me correctly. Anywho, while on this ghost hunt at a hotel, he was informed there were a couple of hot spots at the hotel and on at an old shack or boat house. The boat house is where he said things got 'real', so to speak. One of their psychics or researchers mentioned a really dark presence and foreboding feeling that she labeled as demonic. The investigation of that location ended when one of the camera crew had a leg hulled out from under him and was dragged across the lawn and up a wall where he suffered a fracture and was hospitalized. Ghost Hunters informed my friend that they have a set of standards for their show and will not show anything demonic. 1st, they do not want to get mired in theological debates. 2nd, they do not want to promote amateur hunters hounding areas with demonic presence. 3rd, they are concerned about the possible hit to the shows credibility. As ripley said, "believe it or not." My friend is a honest person and has no reason to lie about this. I still remain neutral, but find his first hand account interesting. Also, remember, this could be influenced by the telephone syndrome. (me trying to remember the story he told me of his experience). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
3. Antioch walmart tonight. .223, 5.56, .40sw and even some .45 and 308. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
4. Under $50. https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-AR15-Scope-Mount-p/pabasicsm.htm Just over $50. 30mil tube https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-Deluxe-AR15-Scope-Mount-30mm-p/padlxsm.htm 1" tube https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-Deluxe-AR15-Scope-Mount-1-Inch-p/padlxsm1.htm Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
5. That's good info and helps me understand what to expect. I haven't decided if I will get a suppressor yet. Not sure if I want to go through the hassle involved with the stamp. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
6. So, my questions are these: 1) what is the recoil like on a .300 blackout out of an 8" barrel? 2) how uncomfortable is the buffer tube when jammed into the shoulder? 3) AAC or Noveske upper? I am building a new lower as a pistol in about a month and am trying to figure out the budget. I had an opportunity to swing by Everything Weapons in cool springs and try out the Sig Arm Brace, and it seems comfortable enough. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
7. Just contact the NSA and ask them to restore your email. This should be a thing. Imagine the NSA being inundated with requests like this from the millions of citizens. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
8. I got out to the range yesterday and had an opportunity to put about 20 Winchester 55gr fmj through the barrel to measure when it starts to walk and found it a bit interesting. First 5-7 rounds grouped about 1.5-2 inches subsequent rounds seemed to walk down by another inch and then started walking to the right. I really wish I had video of it to replay. Based on what I saw, I feel I should be able to get a 5 round group that performs consistently. The next 5 may open up a bit. After that, I expect the groups to really open up. That said, being able to pull a consistent .8 inch group with 50gr AE varmint tipped is acceptable to me. A friendly neighbor at the range, when listening to my woes over the barrel with heavier 77gr noslers, offered me three 77gr SMK loads that he shoots out of his custome and those three grouped just over .5 inches. He told me that his 1/8 twist barrels liked hotter loads and my barrel seemed to agree, so it may be time for me to up my powder. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
9. 300 blk pistol, noveskie 8.5in upper, sig arm brace. I may also get a suppressor. Not sure. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
10. I am heading to the range tomorrow and going to do some shooting to collect data on how quickly it starts walking. I have not heard back from PSA yet. I need call them. I will keep ya posted and provide some pics of my groupings. Sent from my SCH-I545 using apatalk 2
11.
They will probably all be declared Terrorists by this administration. Isn't that how they think in Washington? If your not for them and their beliefs your a terrorist????
According to some people on the forums here, this would be called domestic terrorism as well. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/index.php?/topic/68193-#Block4Trayvon---Friday,-July-26 If you think the actions discussed in the link above would have constituted domestic terrorism, then that same logic should apply to a bunch of truckers shutting down the freeways in Washington DC. I, think, as I did in the posted thread, that this is a simple act of civil disobedience as a form of protest. However, if we do not get a grip on how we use the term "terrorism" then this type of peaceful protest might quickly be tagged as domestic terrorism in an effort for the government to be able to shut it down. 12. Thank you for the link. I believe they are new to barrels, but if they stand behind their products, the I may just give them some business, even if it is a new product. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
13. Well, to be fair, he was suffering a lot of problems, light strikes was just one of them. Failure to feed, failure to extract, etc... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
14. The reason I stated what I did earlier is because, at the range, I saw a guy with a Jimenez 9mm have repeated failures to fire and then a few successes. Looking at a round or two, he was suffering from light strikes. A DAO pistol with this problem would explain what was experienced in the article. A poor quality pistol, with light enough strikes to cause some rounds not to fire with the first or second pull of the trigger. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
15. Could have been God. Could have been Jimenez. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
16. It is a gamble, but I have supported a number of crowd funded project and have yet to get burned. To date, I have supported a couple of 3D printer projects, the pebble, a fold up box that turns your phone into an effective document scanner and more. Mostly, I like to see companies be able to succeed in areas where getting venture capitol has been challenging. As to the barrels, I am not sure if this endeavor meats the criteria do being difficult to get venture capitol, but I do like the idea of having a few extra barrels on hand at an affordable price. 17. http://www.rockethub.com/projects/33201-ar15-barrels-ar308-barrels-by-nw-custom-precision#description-tab Anybody here familiar with this company? I am interested to know if they have a history of good quality work. The barrels here are affordable priced, but if the company doesn't have a good reputation, I may not help fund their project. 18. Well, I have removed the handguard and verified that the gas tube is on correctly to the best of my knowledge. I have validated that the hand guard doesn't touch the barrel and that there is a decent amount of space, about .5cm between the guard and the gas block. I am thinking I need to take the gun to a gunsmith, maybe guns for America, and have them inspect it and see what might be causing it to walk so much when heating up. 19. RWF and trevorst, Thank you for this insight. I have been hesitant to screw around with the upper, as I have no experience in this area and have been concerned that I would only make it worse. However, considering what each of you have said, I may check the barrel nut and gas tube, as well as anything else I can see to make sure it is all tight and lined up properly. I would be pleased if one of these issued proved to be the source of the difficulties I am experiencing after only a few rounds are sent down range. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
20. I have added the 18 inch barrel to my wishlist.  Maybe in a month or two I can pick up this barrel.  For now, I will continue to explore what this barrel can do.   I also have been using a bipod when shooting.  I will sand bag it and see if that improves anything for me.  I dont expect much change from heat performance but maybe it will have an effect on tightening my groups when shooting the barrel cold/cool.  I will also be starting some load development.  Even though most of the 75gr match ammo haven't performed well, I will be load developing with 77gr noslers, as I have about 1500 of them.  Maybe I can get them to shoot .75 inches with the right load.
21. The PSA upper I have is supposedly using a 1:8, .223 wylde Wilson SS barrel. 16 inch length was not my first choice, but the deal seemed worth it. Are stoner barrels considered more consistent or better quality than Wilson? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
22. That explains a lot, thank you! I have considered making my next gun a light weight AR Pistol with the ATF approved Sig Sauer brace. Knowing that thin barrels, if made right, can retain consistency in shot groups even after heating up a bit is good info to have. If you ever recall who made your barrel, please message me. 23. I wanted a rifle to compete in F-Class AR competitions out to 600 yards, but I didn't want to spend more than 1000 for a rifle that could do it. I am not sure tif this rifle will be competitive or not, but it fit the budget. I also wanted the experience of building my own lower without messing with my Sig M400, as I trust that rifle, but I do not yet trust my novice gun smithing attempts. 24. It was quite enjoyable shooting next to you. Definitely broke up the monotony of waiting for my barrel to cool down. Thanks again for letting me try out the 10/22 and the 270. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
25. I just hope others can learn from my experiences and save themselves some frustration. Also, the fledgling writer in me cringed, a lot, when I reread my post. Sorry for the mix of past and present tense as well as the other spelling and grammar mistakes :-). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
