What IWB tuckable holsters are you all using for the M&P Shield? I have a .40 on order, and I have an Old Faithful hybrid for my SW990Lc (almost identical in size to a G27), but I've never really warmed up to it, especially when sitting down or driving a car. I don't know if I'll like it better with the slimmer Shield in it or not. I'll see how the Shield fits in it before ordering a Kydex piece molded specifically for the Shield. Depending on suggestions, I may just go with something entirely new. So far, the DeSantis Tuck-This II Pocket-Tuk models jump out at me the most. I've read about the Remora line, too, but there is some disagreement over with size is ideal for a Shield, 4A vs 6A. Any input is appreciated it!

The start of a shopping mall we all would love!!! For the car guys, we would need a Jegs/Summit showroom there, too! Shooting range in the basement. Skeet shooting off the roof top. Oh yeah! !
-
That's me. How long will this last, or will it just get worse? I am quite frugal, so even before the hysteria, knowing each bang of factory ammo costs me $0.30 or $0.40 already sucked. It's time to study up on dry-fire drills and when I go to the range, make 100% of the shooting dedicated strictly to technique practice. I hate shooting with someone. It turns into a plink-fest and a game. From now on, I will shoot solo and have one focus.

Do they all come with a safety? I guess I thought it was like the regular M&Ps where it was optional.
-
Oh dear, my lust for one is growing!
-
How do they handle the "snap" of .40 vs a M&P40c or G27? My SW990Lc has a lot of kick. Not so much I dislike it, but I would expect the smaller pistol to be worse.

"Mine's not as big as Dirty Harry's, so I rather not talk about it. Okay???" If in public, depending on the presumed mentality of the person asking, I would tell them what it really is with no qualms. If I was somewhere where CC was not allowed, I'd use the popular answer of "medical."

Which model is that? It's worthy of a shining every time you get it out!!!

Psych meds linked to 90% of school shootings
S&WForty replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have to wonder what kind of authority will Obamacare give doctors in forcing patients to take certain prescriptions "they need?" Don't take prescribed drug, lose coverage/pay fine. Let the gubbament have a list of mental meds that disqualify gun ownership/purchase, then throw onto that list some of the "softer" meds that are over-prescribed by doctors meeting their quota - so the pharmaceutical rep will give them a new set of golf clubs... I'll never forget my doc asking me how "are things going?" I said, "They suck." That @#$@#$'s face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Are you depressed???" he asked. He thought he had a live one. I then said, "If I changed jobs, life would no longer suck. I'm fine." You could hear that game show "you lose" buzzer sound as he thought "I was THAT close to getting another patient on XYZ depression med." -
Home defense and hearing considerations

What brands and models are proven? Any recommendations? -
I have to counter that logic (that makes good sense - this Android'er is a tinkerer) with another line of thinking. I think Glocks and iPhones are awesome. Both set the standard in their respective markets. Well, they pretty much created/defined their markets. I'm a SW99 and Android user. I also own a 1911 for fun/drooling while the SW's are for carry. I chose the SW99s due to their ergonomics, and the XD series was my second choice. Glock was 3rd in line because I don't follow fads or follow others (and it felt like a 2x4 in my hand). Glock seems like the go-to pistol to the person new to pistols not because of their excellence, errr Glock Perfection, but the perception most have of them. The same can be said for me not going for an iPhone. I knew one is rock solid, but I don't follow the trend no matter how good the trending thing is.

It was nice while it worked. Thank you for your efforts. :)

Do you allow your kids to arm themselves when home alone?
S&WForty replied to Links2k's topic in General Chat
In addition to the question of a child's maturity is how firmly rooted is that maturity when it is subjected to the peer pressure of a friend? A kid that would otherwise never touch a firearm on their own might be goaded into it by a pushy friend. I grew up around a loaded revolver, but was scared enough of it I never touched it. As my mom requested, if I ever wanted to see it, ask her to show it to me. She says once or twice I'd ask her to let me look at it. One of her rules was never to tell anyone she had a gun. No friends of mine knew about it. -
Me, too. We're being discriminated against. ;)

I was really longing for a Glock then I did a side by side, 100 rds per pistol, comparison. I fell back in love with my compact (G27 size) SW990L and threw out my case of Glock-lust. I just knew that day's test would put me over the edge to go get my own G27. What a surprise when I knew I had a keeper in my own pistol. I owed it a big apology. The M&P line is the SW99 successor. If I was looking for a new pistol, that's what I'd consider first. And it has much more aftermarket support than the SW99 line. I could have my cake and eat it, too...

How have you reacted personally? Bought guns? Mags? Ammo?
S&WForty replied to hipower's topic in General Chat
I've shot a few ARs. The bug didn't bite me either. I sure hate all of this mess affecting those that desire to own them. I have plenty of handgun ammo. I was stocked to my liking prior to the election. -
I listened from afar while two co-workers argued. I heard "I'm liable if I let my car warm-up on a winter morning and someone steals it. They runover and kill someone, I'm liable." The anti-gun dork said, "And you should be." Then the first guy said, "So, if I have guns at home, and someone breaks into my house, I am liable for what they do with my guns?" Dork said, "You should be." First guy then added to it. "So, if I have my guns in a safe at home, and someone breaks into my home AND MY SAFE, I am still liable if they kill people with my guns?" Dork said it again, "You should be." All the while the dork kept saying he's not anti-gun. Considering I bought a safe just two weeks ago, that really fired me up, but I stayed glued to my seat and well, worked. He is the same co-worker I posted about ~2 years ago. He told me the night before while eating at a pizza place, 2-3 guys sitting together had guns on their waists. He asked "What kind of officers were they?" I told him they could have been permit holders opting to open carry. What is one of the nicest people I know suddenly turned into the biggest jerk I've ever known. He went nuts over the fact nobody should have the right to do that and try to be a hero during a robbery and shoot his precious wife or baby in the process. I tried to tell him most permit holders' intent is to protect themselves or their own loved ones, NOT to be instant volunteer security guards. Anyway, one of the finest people I know loses ALL common sense when guns become the topic of discussion. And to the point he becomes irrate. That is what we're up against.

MPD Officer killed - Mayor instantly attacked 2A
S&WForty replied to S&WForty's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He should have never said the words "Second Amendment." Taking guns from the "wrong people" is fine, but so emphatically calling the Second Amendment by name is an attack on it. The key word of your post was "yet." -
Indeed. :( I've used PS since CS4. I upgraded to CS6 a week ago. (to anyone else out there in need of an upgrade from CS3/CS4, you have till 12/31 to upgrade to CS6. After that, only CS5 users can upgrade at the upgrade price.) My friend had me over last weekend for a quick tutorial on LR4. He's a pro photog that has been working with PS since the first edition. He kept resisting LR, but got on board with LR3. He now only opens up PS for photos needing serious touch-up work. When post-processing a sports shoot or a wedding's shots, he does nearly everything in LR. I could have done just fine with CS4/CS6's Bridge and PS, but since I saw LR4 had dropped to $100 (even cheaper on Amazon), I thought I'd get it to toy with. I never have to process 100+ photos in a hurry, but if I had to, LR4 would have my photos processed and online in record time! It is such a valuable tool for pros, I am surprised they've let the price come down so much.

I'm just now learning LR4 (my first copy of LR). I have more fun playing with photos on the PC than actually taking them with the camera!

I love photography. Photos like that really fire me up.

Good fresh read on the control thing..
S&WForty replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So true. Just like election time, we can only hope the "independents" are swayed to our side. Something I have little hope in... -
We lost an organized crime unit officer this morning. A second was shot. They were serving a warrant for narcotics. Our useless mayor instantly attacked the Second Amendment during the news conference after this morning's shooting. The Second Amendment has nothing to do with criminals possessing guns. I already knew Wharton was a piece of feces, so why am I surprised... If the mayor attacks the 2A a split second after expressing grief, then I can defend the 2A in the same breath that mourns the loss of an officer. The officer is a mother of 4 small kids. It's gut wrenching. :( http://www.wmctv.com/story/20346380/one-mpd-officer-dead-after-shooting

Hartline Heating and Air 901-848-3384 I cannot remember the guy's first name. He checked my system in May. His dad is E.Q. Hartline. His dad did work for my mom in the past. A friend referred me to E.Q. as he's done his family's systems for many years. E.Q. is a retired sheriff's deputy. E.Q. referred me to his son when I told him my system is in the attic.
