Purpose of silly thread was to see how many show it - whether truly "flaunting" or just casual. Those that flaunt or show it with this "I'm Tough" stare are just hurting our image. Responsible gun owners with brains need to always be aware there are some idiots out there ruining it for the rest of us... I've read enough threads on here. Those serious enough to carry a permit AND frequent this site are pretty sensible gun owners. "Flaunt" in the topic title got everyone's attention.

I like that reasoning and Patrick Henry's, too. You hit the nail on the head with the attitude. It's the look that accompanies the display that is most irritating.

I've got a friend that has to ask for customers' ID on her job. It seems like every time I turn around I hear another story of a permit holder handing over their carry permit instead of a driver's license. Only once did the story go "oops, sorry, wrong one" with an innocent look on their face. All the others either hand it over with an intimidating or bragging smirk. Ya know, that's just not the right way to go about making our side look good. If you want to show off what you got, just open carry.

No surprise. 15 or more years ago some of my family in Jackson was calling it "Little Miami." At the time the line they repeated over and over was it had higher gang activity per capita than Memphis.

Nutbush really is a part of Memphis...

I'm a Canon shooter, strictly for hobby, though I have helped a friend on two pro gigs shooting sports. I have a 20D I got back in 2005 new, and a 1DMKIIn I got used in 2008. It was a killer deal from a friend that had owned it for only ~6 months and had put only about 6K shots on it. I have the 580EXII flash, 70-200 f/2.8IS, 28-135IS, 10-22 EF-S, and Tamron 28-75 f/2.8. I had a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 for a few years, but I sold it to a friend when I got Canon's IS version. For shooting on a budget, that Sigma served me well, and the Tamron 28-75 is great, too. Oh, I have a 1.4x teleconverter for the 70-200, too. Talk about a money pit. I sometimes think I shoulda gotten a top of the line Point & Shoot model than get into all of this. LOL

Just wait till Bass Pro Shop moves into it. I didn't realize that plan was still alive until a friend mentioned it the other day.

Thanks. It's home. I'm too young to recall and appreciate its former glory (pre-80s), but between relatives and older friends, I am told how nice it used to be. It's sad.

In defense of The Memphis Defense Team, with everything else negative said about Memphis on here, those that don't know any better would figure it's just another bad truth of this city.

My permit class instructor advised against giving aid. I think one scenario was if you get too close and the BG makes a last lunge, and you shoot them again, a witness close enough to watch, but not close enough to be aware of all the facts may think you just finished them off execution style.

Amen. If I ever come into a fortune of $$$, I am moving as far away from PEOPLE as I can.

I don't mind stores being "inclusive" of other religions, but when so many stores crapped on Christmas the last few years, for them to now "cater" to other religions is a joke and a slap in the face. I haven't kept a list of every "offending" (of Christians) store out there, but I know some that banned "Christmas" have reversed their stance due to the backlash. I can't recall for sure, but I think Macy's is one. From this thread, it appears BB is another that has backstepped. I won't "shop" in those stores anymore. If I see something that is a killer deal there, yeah, I'll go take advantage of that sale. I've always walked into BB like a kid walking into a candy store, but back in the good ole days of Circuit City vs. BB, it seems the BB clerks were all over me, in my face, saying "WE AREN'T PAID A COMMISSION LIKE THAT OTHER STORE." My experience 4 out of 5 time was the pimply-faced geek that was so proud of his hourly/salary pay didn't know jack compared to the commissioned salesman at CC. I hated to see CC go. I pre-ordered Win7 back in July when MS was offering it nearly 50% off. I waited till the last minute to order, and when I did, BB was one of the last that still was accepting orders. I know the circumstances were odd due to it being a pre-order, but the despite there being a "pending" charge on my credit card from July to October, when I logged on to view my order and to change the ship-to address, my order number wasn't anywhere to be found. I had to call their 800 number. "Oh, yeah, it's on back order, so it's not showing up." WHY? Then the day before it shipped, it disappeared from my credit card statement. Then reappeared 2 days after it shipped. It shipped 24 hrs or more after they emailed me saying it had shipped, too. Just screwy all the way around.

On most forums, you use image tags. Type the following "[aaa]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2770/4132913381_f106c440d5.jpg[/aaa]" where "aaa" is really "img" and remove the quotes. Note the / in front of img in the last bracket. That tells the browser "close/end" tag. Without the / it won't work. That's one funny pic. Best joke on the bowing story yet!

I didn't realize his age until a few months ago. I couldn't believe it!

I'm a huge GM fanboy, but that new Taurus SHO looks better everyday.

If the front loaders are like the traditional top loaders, Maytag is made by Whirlpool. So are the Kenmores. I returned a top-loader Maytag to Home Depot last year after running it once. It sounded like it was falling apart. Maytag is not what it used to be, but then again, none of them are. The Kenmore I ended up with is about 1/3 as noisy at the Maytag. It replaced a 46 yr old Kenmore. I wish I could recondition the old one.

The definitive "THE CALL" thread... (HCP)
S&WForty replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I called about 45-50 days after I went to the DMV. I was told "it's approved, and will be mailed. You'll get it in 7-14 days." I got it 6-7 days later. If for some reason yours doesn't get processed sooner than later, a polite call WILL get get yours moved to the top of the stack. FWIW, the start date on my permit is the same date I made the call. -
I've never followed them as a true fan, but I've always pulled for them, and I think a lot of Fisher. I hated how they got no respect last year when they went so long undefeated. Watching this season play out sucks.

THAT is an understatement. I've also used the Federal FMJ, and it's about on par with WWB. I'll never use the Remington again. I remember being not even 1/2 way through the ammo and being shocked at how dirty the end of the pistol was.

Both statements are excellent. I couldn't agree more.

Whenever I've thought of such a situation, that is the exact reasoning I have had. We can't just let them charge us to then kill us with our own weapon. For that matter, even if a weapon is not drawn, if a gun carrier is outnumbered and beat down, there's a strong chance the thugs will find the gun. Then what? They take it and run, and use on someone else, or shoot their victim that's laying there? I can hear the liberals screaming now, "That's why guns are bad." It's a shame the law makes such a situation a debatable subject. If thugs knew armed citizens could shoot their @$$es off without consequence, it would deter a lot more crime. It sucks when the law somewhat fosters a politically correct mindset.
