I was blessed enough to tag out in Indiana. A very nice 125-130inch buck at 100 yards, a doe at 200 yards and another doe at 275 yards, all with my 308 pistol and in the course of 4 minutes. While I was deer hunting, I saw a couple foxes and I want to shoot one, or two. I have a fox pro caller but have only used it for yote hunting(I also shot a yote at 385 yards while I was up there) and was wondering how I go about calling in or tempting a fox to get close enough to shoot it. Any advise would be great. Thanks!

So, I am cleaning my warlock 2 for the firs time, it has maybe 300-400 rounds down it. What is the best way to do it? I have taken it apart and soaked it in hoppes #9 and started scraping the carbon off. There has to be a better way to do this. Dishwasher? what do you guys do? My octane 45 should be out of jail soon and hope to put a bunch down range with that as soon as I get it, kinda need to know the best way to clean it. Just cleaned the 4522 lite, it was pretty gunked up, cans sure make them run dirty.

Scratch that, my phone doesn't have the need software to run tapatalk. I can't update my phone because the last one killed it. Looks like I might be using photobucket and my wifes Nikon.

I'm guessing I need to find the app for tapatalk on my IPhone. I don't like tech stuff

So, I have a bunch of stuff I want to sell but always struggle getting a picture posted from my cell phone. If someone could show/tell me how to do it from my phone, that would be awesome. Need to clean up my reloading bench!

SBR Change of caliber ?
my82cam replied to Fourtyfive's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Push come to shove, that likely wouldn't pass muster in TN, since you can only carry a handgun, which is defined as having less than 12" barrel. Where does it say a handgun has to have less than a 12 inch barrel, is that only for carry? I have a letter from an ATF agent that says there is no legal limit to how long a handgun barrel can be. -
What type of outer wear do you guys use to fight the wind? Have been in some wind, and it will suck the heat right out of you. Typically wear insulated underwear, jeans, long sleeve shirts and wool bibs and coat. Indiana wind is fierce.

Muzzle loaders are legal and so are slug guns. I am trying to open up my effective range from my socom which is good to 250 yards. I wouldn't want to give up yardage and get a slug gun or a muzzle loader and have a 150-200 yard(I know I could go smokeless and build a high end one but that's not what I am after), the 308 pistol fits the bill as being a cheap alternative around their laws. I talked with Indiana DNR Saturday and they said it is legal but they don't like it. So, I will be hunting with it this year(unless I tag out by rifle season). The 308 pistol is easy to handle and feels secure when handling it. While sitting in my stand, I will be able to rest the rifle on the railing for support. Won't be a problem to be accurate with this pistol.

The good thing about an ar10 pistol is the buffer tube still provides great stability when your face is pressed on the tube. My blinds have wood frames around them, so, I would have a nice support all the way around to rest the gun on it. I am very confident in my ability to shoot 500 yards with that platform and steady rests. I believe it would be harder to be accurate with the encore, although, I could buy a barrel and try it. I do reload for my 458 and am using a 325gr bullet. I don't see dropping down to a 250gr bullet getting me another 300 yards on top of what I am currently able to do. 375 socom? haven't heard of that one yet, maybe my 458 will get a younger brother :)

Yeah, it is a great round but I want to shoot more than 200 yards. If it were legal I would use my custom 300WM but I can't. These fields I hunt in are 1000 yards long. I want to sit in the middle and shoot any day in the field. A 308 pistol would accomplish this.
-
Yeah, shotgun slugs are allowed but that doesn't have the range my 458 socom has. Hoping my 308 will extend my effective range in those big fields.

As I read it in the 2015 Indiana hunting guide, the minimum case length for a handgun is 1.16 inches without the bullet, fire a .243 or bigger and have at least a 4 inch barrel. Minimum case length for a rifle is 1.16 inch with a maximum length of 1.8 inches. If there is something I have missed please show me where it is, but 308 as I understand it is legal for handguns to shoot but illegal for a rifle to shoot. Hence the reason I'm making a pistol.

A 38 special with a 28 inch barrel? I would have to load that thing with snake shot and try to shoot clay pigeons with that thing!

Their firearm season is limited to rifles with handgun calibers over 357 diameter and a certain case length or handguns with pistol calibers 243 or bigger and no case length. They tried to change the law this year to use centerfire calibers, like TN, but it got shot down. With all the flat fields they are afraid people will try to shoot 800 yards when they shouldn't even be shooting 200 yards. Most people just buy a lever action 44mag or something like that to hunt with. most people don't make a 308 pistol with a zeiss scope :)

Well, I deer hunt up in Indiana and they have real goofy hunting regulations. One of them is you can use handgun cartridges in rifles and rifle cartridges in handguns. I have been hunting up there with my 458 Socom and it's good out to 200 or so yards but haven't wanted to push it much farther as ballistics don't look. So, a light bulb went off inside my head. I called Indiana and made sure an AR style pistol is legal and they said yes, a lot of people hunt with 300blk pistols. so, I asked them how long they barrel could be and they don't show a barrel limit. Next step? I emailed the Nashville ATF field agent and he verified that there is no legal limit to how long a pistol barrel can be, as long as it can't be fired from the shoulder with a stock. so, another light goes off in my head. I have a really good shooting rock river LAR8 with a 20 inch barrel and a zeiss HD5 scope with dial turrets and a YHM TI suppressor that can reach out and touch something. Since my lower left the factory as a rifle it can't be made into a pistol, so, now I am looking to buy a RRA LAR lower(making sure it left the factory as "other") to be turned into a pistol. It almost seems wrong to build a pistol with a 20 inch barrel and a suppressor hanging off the end of it :pleased:

I use a case length gauge, I had to grind the bottom of the resizing die to get the case where it resized enough.

I have had a 1600b for a couple years, awesome range finder! Wish I would have paid that for mine

I am wanting to try a premium primer to see if that helps with my extreme spreads, sometimes the ES is 15 sometimes it's 89. I am currently using Winchester large rifle magnums in the blue box, nosler brass, neck size brass with the lee neck sizer, retumbo powder(high ES even with reloader-25) and Hornady 208 AMAX and I'm relaoding for my custom 300wm. I found a couple hundred federal match but they are just large rifle, not the magnums. Would these be safe to try? Does anybody have 100 or so federal match mags that i could buy to see if they work or not?

I first had OAL of 2.120, if i remember correctly. This didn't want to feed out of my bolt gun or my ar15, so, I pushed it in to 2.050ish, and that feeds in my bolt gun and by hand in my ar15. I am using magpul magazines. I tried GI mags and another polymer mag when I had the OAL at 2.120 but didn't switch mags once I seated them in farther. I have a lot of 208 AMAX but I plan on using them for hunting and want the soft lead for expanding purposes. The AMAXs do not expand well at that slow of a speed. I know there are high dollar bullets that are heavy that expand very well, but I am trying to find something that I can shoot a lof of and afford to do it. The missouri bullets are $45 for 250 shipped to my door. Should I try seating them in even farther?

So, I finally got my stamps back for my SBR and my Phantom TI suppressor and have started reloading subs for it. I am shooting a 300blk out of a 10.5 inch SS barrel(pistol gas port). Using Missouri bullet company 245 cast lead bullets that are coated. 10gr of WC680 puts it around 1030FPS. The problem is I can not get it to feed the next round. The bolt stays open on the last round, so, I know it isn't short stroking it. The flat nose of the bullet seems to get jammed on the top of the chamber. If I cock it by hand, it will feed just fine, but when fired it doesn't cycle. Any ideas?

E-file form1 for SBR timeline.
my82cam replied to maroonandwhite's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I did an Efile on March 3rd for my SBR and it took 14 weeks. I also bought two suppressors from Guns and leather and it took 17 weeks for those. I was happy with the wait time. -
I have this rifle in the compact version, I love it. I have shot 125gr supers through it and am waiting on my suppresors to get approved before I start work on subs. I chose the compact, so, my kids can shoot it as a youth rifle, yet it still fits me and is super easy to cary and handle.

Dang, would be fun to do once.

I keep the beretta tactical 1301 loaded with 9 rounds of buckshot(one bad mama jama!!) and the mak90 with a slide fire and a drum magazine, always a glock or 3 close by and ready to go!
