  1. we have a garage in madison and he has been a wonderful customer for years and years. he has 1 step son and grandchild that will havew nothing to do with him. i guess he looks at me like his son, he is a super nice guy and can't imagine why anyone would dis-own him.
  2. i wish i knew some of the things that gun has been through, being made in 1942 i am sure it has seen some action! probably in ww2 maybe korea or nam but who really knows.
  3. how can you tell how old it is? it has a 6 digit seiral number starting with 83xxxx. does anyone know?
  4. lmao, maybe some empty brass when i'm done shooting it!
  5. well, one of my customers came into my shop today and had a little gift for me! he gave me his colt government model 1911 that he bought in 1966 when he was a marine. he shot it a couple times and then put it up keeping it loaded and ready to go. it is a military issue and has marked on it "property of US army." it has some wear on it but is a great shooter(i took it from him 2 years ago and cleaned it, shot it and gave it back to him). i'm pretty excited! i know you guys want pictures but that will have to come later
  6. try that link
  7. http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?family=015C&mid=534070 i just got a new winchester, it is a winchester model 1895 in 405 winchester made in 2010(the newest gun i own lol) i shot it saturday, it shoots awesome!! it will do a 2inch group or less at 100 yards and that is if you don't jump. it does have some massive recoil(there is a reason why teddy roosevelt called it big medicine!!!) i'm looking forward to shooting a deer with it this year. i have plans for a globe front sight and rear peep sight and also some sling mounts. i will try to get pictures up sometime but for now it will have to be the factory pictures. the only thing i don't like is the trigger pull but that may be able to get fixed.
  8. i ditched all of my wolf primers, i was having a hard time seating them, so i took the mic out, they were all out of round. i didn't find one that was even close. measured some winchester primers and they were dead even. just my 2 cents lol
  9. you are not crazy, but i wouldn't do it. i take a couple hundred rounds with me when i deer hunt. JK
  10. wes, that is the exact same remington 700 i have, but i can't tell if yours has the detachable magazine? what kind of glass are you going to get? i can't wait for bow season! i think we are in the same boat, i have trouble sleeping also. lol good luck finding your 10 pointer!
  11. that is just how i got into deer hunting, a mosin that i sporterized. think i killed 2 deer with it before i got bigger and better things. but it sure did the job well, that's for sure! i would hunt with one again if i needed to.
  12. Special Season Quota Hunts Eliminated Gun "Doe Day" Now Available In Most Counties Deer hunters who primarily hunt in Unit A and B counties will no longer need to apply for quota permits to harvest antlerless deer during the gun season this year. Antlerless deer can now be taken during “doe days” in their respective county by anyone holding a Sportsman License, Lifetime Sportsman, Sr. Citizen with Type 166 & 167 license, and landowners hunting on their own land. Regular license holders (Type 001) will need to purchase a Special Season permit (Type 094) to take advantage of the antlerless opportunities i just found this....awesome!!
  13. i just read on the twra webpage that Miscellaneous Regulations may vary for handgun carry permit holders but what are they? i haven't found details yet, anybody know? also, Deer Hunting County antlerless deer and fall turkey quota hunts are now non-quota. does this mean that jackson county, unti A, can now shoot doe during rifle season as that was a quota hunt before? all the other info i see says you can't shoot doe during rifle season. have they not update the webpage yet or am i understandind this wrong? thanks

    ruger m77

thanks for the info, i don't see how that could be easier than a 700! i think this might be getting a timney trigger kit...i don't feel good about grinding and drilling on my trigger parts! lol

    ruger m77

i just picked up a ruger m77 stainless in 7mm mag. it really needs a trigger job. i guess my question is, are they able to be adjusted like a remington 700?
  17. i have my eye on a winchester 1895 in 405 wcf (as soon as i can sell one of the 44mags it's in the safe!) anybody reload for that, if so, how do you like it? i have seen there aren't many choices for bullets outside of 300gr unless you do some stuff to the chamber, which i don't really wanna do.
  18. what is the cost or process of getting a C&R? been thinking about it but not sure if it is worth the hassle for me.
  19. someone in murfreesboro(TGO member) is giving me a 22 handgun that needs work and is broken right now. i was wondering if anyone on here ever makes trips from mboro to hendersonville area and might be willing to pick it up for me. i will be going to chatty in 3 weeks, it can wait till than but thought i might ask. thanks
  20. i bought a bell and carlson stock for my remington 700 LA. well, as soon as i got the stock i mounted it to the rifle....it didn't fit right. the forearm was bent and rubbed the barrel on the left side, and there was an 1/8 gap on the right side. i called B and C and they wanted me to send it back in, they are very friendly. they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it but would be glad to send me a new one. they made me a new one and within 2 weeks i had it, i just mounted it to my rifle and it fits like a glove. i was very happy to see them stand behind their product and take care of me until the problem was fixed. i will buy more of their products in the future. thought i would share this with everyone! oh, i'm going to shoot it Saturday, hopefully it will shoot better with the b and c stock than the cheap sps stock it came with.
  21. I'm working on a boat for my friend...it is a 302 ford with an OMC outdrive, i am having trouble with the shift cables and going into gear. if there is a boat mechanic on here that could give me a call and give some advice that would be awesome....i work on cars all day long but cars don't have this system on it....lol thanks, BJ -nevermind....found some other stuff this after noon and it is going to have to go to a boat shop....ugh
  22. i called KY and i can apply for next years elk hunt come this december, i applied for TN draw but doubt i will get a tag.
  23. wd-i wonder if they would let me tag along next year....lol
  24. since my hunting trip while i was in africa was a bust, i am trying to plan an elk hunt for the fall of 2011(not 2010 because i am sure i don't have enough time and money for this year). my question is how do you do, or what is the best way to go about this? what state has a high population of elk that you can hunt on public land? who has the cheapest hunting license cost? what on earth do i do with an elk after i shoot it? lol i can't just drag it back to the truck like i do with my deers after i gut them. i guess i cut as much meat as i can carry and the antlers for the mount. any advice or pointers would be awesome. thanks
  25. is there a difference in pillar bedding and an aluminum bedding block? the one i am getting does have the aluminum bedding block. as long as it is accurate i will be happy
