my boss was denied for a shotgun this spring, the store called him back the next day and said he passed when they ran it through the next day....go figure.

it is the black box 777 primers, i have shot 50 out of the 100 and haven't had a problem until those 5. i will call them and see what they will do for me, sometimes companies will send you free replacements when there is a problem with their products.

well, after bow hunting i shot my encore with some powerbelts(i was having trouble with sabots). at 100 yards it shot a 3.5inch group out of 4 shots and that is just resting up against the 4wheeler. if it were in my led sled i'm sure it would have done better! i even went back to 150 yards and it was right on the mark with the leupold SABR. i was shooting 3 pellets of 777 with a 245gr powerbelt. i am going to try different gr powerbelts until i find the perfect combo. i did have a problem with the primers, i had 4 bad in a row and the 5th was pretty much a dud but still got the bullet out of the barrel. at least my gun shoots! thanks for the advice on the powerbelts....

good idea about the set screw, i will give that a try. i will also try different powder and see what it does. thanks

i got the 245gr with the green tips. i am shooting 3 pellets of 777 as i can shoot up to 300 yards in some places. i want to try some of the hollow points (the green tip got stuck on the end of my ram rod when i loaded one of the power belts) and different grains as well. the green tip got stuck on the end of my ram rod when i loaded one of them. what grains do you think i should try with 150gr powder, i just went by using a lighter bullet with more powder.

10 inch at 100 yards is before or after you clean it? will it do better than a 10inch group or is that it?
-
they both feel the same on the first shot as far as loading them. the second shot, after the barrel is a lilttle dirty, loads harder for the pb then the sst. pyrodex is the only thing i have ever used and enjoy the easy clean up! i guess my gun just doesn't like sst. i will have a bunch for sale soon. lol i did call thompson and they said send the gun in. but i dont want to send it in and be without it during season. plus i would rather find the problem myself if possible.

i have a prohunter with the 28inch stainless fluted barrel. my question or problem is this, the first shot is dead on, very accurate at 100 yards but the second and third shot is not even on a 4foot by 5foot target. i have to clean it between every shot if i want to hit the target. i am using 777 powder with hornady sst bullets. does anybody else run into this? i got some powerbelts the other day and shot a 3 shot group(without cleaning between shots) at 30 yards and they were very accurate but i didnt have the time to shoot it at 100 yards. i know i need to shoot it at 100 yards to see what really happens but is cleaning between every shot normal or is that just a bad bullet/powder combo?

i just talked with him and told him i didn't like his shot and that it wasn't a very good choice. he only stated that it was his only shot, and he also told me he shot another deer from the back side and it went straight through him and tore up the heart. again, another shot i don't think was a good choice, oh, boy.

1 if it is ethical to shoot them in the head, why do you and his dad bitch at him when he does it? 2 look at the picture of a deer feeding with an arrow through its head-unethical shot choice. i understand you don't think head shots are ok to do, if you don't think it is unethical why do you think people shouldn't do it? i understand missing and making a shot that you weren't happy with but only taking bad shots is different.

does anybody know when the new guns and leather in hendersonville will be opening? i'm looking forward to it quite a bit. i know there is a new shooting range in hendersonvile called nrange but i haven't had a chance to go. has anybody else tried it yet?

i could buy it if he were finish the deer off, but he wasn't, it was just poor judgement. if i had any control over it he wouldn't be there, but he bought the 15 acres right beside my dad's land that i hunt on. i am glad to know that i am not over reacting and that you guys feel the same way
-
well, he is my dad's age and he is hard headed. my dad let him know he didn't agree with his shot and that it wasn't very sportsman like. he didn't seem to care what we thought, that's what makes me so upset and the fact that i am hunting on the same mountain that he is hunting on.

today a friend sent me a picture of a doe he shot. the only shot he had (that's what he said) was a head shot, so, he shot the doe between the eyes with an arrow. he sent me a picture saying what a great shot he was(this is after he missed 6 deer in a row in 3 days) and also said "this must be a unicorn deer." i am not very happy at all with his shot choice or his "skill" of hunting as he calls it. am i over reacting? to me, it doesn't seem like an ethical shot or any sort of sporting chance. the last thing i want as a hunter is to have some wounded animal running around because i made a poor shot choice. i always wait until i have the best shot, and i have passed on some good deer because of this. what do you guys think?

i haven't gotten in the woods yet. i was supposed to opening weekend but a family thing came up. hopefully i will get there this weekend!

beautiful rifle, i love to see when people have a passion or get hooked on lever guns....i'm hooked to winchesters!!! there is just something about them!!! great find and enjoy it!
-
i need to get some in my hands and play with them a bit first before i decide. m14man, when you said yours is an amazing shooter, how well does it shoot? what kind of group at 100 yards?
-
not rambling at all, great reading and great shot! sounds like you had a great time. congrats on your first bow kill and if you need helping eating all that, you just let me know! lol

ok, i give up, what on earth is that?

guys, i have been thinking about buying in ar-10 after hunting season. i want some serious firepower at long range just because! i have some ARs and it is time to step it up some. i'm thinking about the 16inch flattop or 20 inch but dont want it to be too heavy. i am just wanting some feedback from people who have shot them or own them. i want it to do at least moa or better as i plan on shooting it at 300 yards plus.

i'm planning on going to indiana again to hunt the first or second week of november. i'm hoping to come home with one this year, i passed on a really good buck holding out for the monster and i'm still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger! lol
-
see, you got another free gun! good job, it always feels great to fix something that was broke. i wish i had that body armor lol

i love SA as well, i would stay away from the bisleys. i have an original in 38-40, great piece of history but not as comfortable to hold as the standard SA. for me, my ruger super blackhawk in 44mag is more comfortable to shoot then the bisley, the grips just feel weird. but get whatever feels best for you. you could buy my bisley for the right price

haha, i actually thought about that davis when i got this 45. hope you enjoyed your davis as much as i enjoy this colt! lol
