  1. Looks great, I am a huge fan of the FDE color scheme! Be very careful, ARs are like rabbits, they multiply when your wife isn't looking!
  2. Guys, it is time to put some color on my LAR-8s, I have a 20 inch predator and a 16 inch elite.  Before they get sent off to middle TN gunsmithing for cerakote, I want to replace the forearms with ones that I actually like.  The elite has the half quad and the predator has a standard tube.  I know that RRA makes 1 forearm for them, but I don't want them to have matching forearms.  From what I have found, the choices are very slim due to the special barrel nut.  Does anybody have some ideas or experience with changing them out and making something work?
  3. I missed opening day in TN, as I was in Indiana.  I still went and sat in my favorite stand since I had some time before a family gathering.  after 20 minutes of sitting, a 5 pointer and a 12 pointer came out and fed 15 yards in front of me(didn't do anything to cover my scent and was wearing a dirty, greasy work jacket), it was so hard to watch that deer and not shoot it.  It wasn't deer season yet, maybe he will be there next time I am up there.
  4. Just ordered it, thanks, Dolomite, that is a good price for one
  5. Thanks for checking, might just need to buy it.
  6. I cut down my sons 410 and I am trying to get the front sight on there, I could use a 3/48 tap if someone has one, I have some sight install stuff but that tap is missing.  if someone is in the Hendersonville or Nashville area and has one, I would love to borrow it or buy it.  Thanks!
  7. some great ideas so far, thanks!
  8. I could bring a shotgun no problem, but meant more of clay pigeon shooting.  card game is not a bad idea, how do you play poker?? lol
  9. I want to get to know some of the new guys in our church better, so, I have invited 3 of them to go out and spend the day shooting and riding four wheelers.  I told them I would try to keep the cost around $60 per person for ammo but may be a tad more if needed.  I have never organized a shoot before and am just looking for some ideas or pointers on how to do it.  I am going to go over safety rules and tips first.  Have decided not to shoot shotguns, as all 3 guys don't have any experience shooting and they may get frustrated.  I have lots of handguns in all calibers, large and small rifles and ar15s and ak47s.  any shooting games out there that is good for 4 people to play? we play put-out with shotguns and clay pigeons but not sure how to do that with rifles or handguns.  any advice or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!
  10. You never know, people have pet bears,coons....why not an elk? Lol
  11. You never know, people have pet bears,coons....why not an elk? Lol
  12. I was also thinking of the front sight block, oops. Never had a lick of trouble with the gas block roll pin
  13. Do you really have a pet cow? That's crazy
  14. I know the chances are slim to non to draw it. Do they do it by a points system or just a luck of the draw each year?
  15. I have had two that I broke punches on when I was trying to remove them, I only broke them when I was trying to remove the pins right to left. Flipped the gun over and they came right out from left to right. I assumed they were tapered because of my experience with them.
  16. As I look into putting my name in the hat for the TN elk draw, I began to wonder if anyone from TGO, or anyone you know, got to be one of the lucky 4(or have enough money to be the 5th that purchased the tag;) that got to hunt them .   I went to Utah for my first elk hunt in 2013, and I can not stop thinking about elk hunting.  I put in for the Utah muzzle loading tag, will probably take 5-10 years to get anough points to get it.  I am also going to start putting in for TN elk in the off chance that I get lucky!!
  17. The pin is tapered, try punching it out from the other directions!
  18. I took the measurements from the 42 and compared them to my smith shield in 40, the shield is pretty much the same size and thickness.  the grip on the 42 is a little bit shorter but big deal.  You can't stick the 42 in a wallet holster like you can a keltec or a LCP or other pocket pistols, I think I will stick to my shield.  almost the same size and twice the stopping power of a 380.  Oh, I am a huge glock fan, and I have been waiting for them to make a 380, this isn't what I was picturing.
  19. I believe you can hunt them in big season, but you have to use the weapon you would use for the big game.
  20. oopps, sorry, will be hunting in Utah on public land.  Will probably be Beaver West or Fillmore, Oak Creek, around 8,000-9,000 ft.
  21. There is a reason why the target kept spinning to the right for you and for me! lol  It is a beautiful rifle, if it had winchester stamped on it, I would try to buy it, but since it says marlin, I will let you keep her!!
  22. I have my first elk hunt planned for October 3rd-13th in Utah.  This is just right after the rut, what are some good techniques for hunting public land for bull elk?  Deep in the woods/high in the mountains?  Never been and don't know much about it, but I am very excited.  any advice from some guys who have gone before would be great.   I did buy a hoochie momma caller last night, sounds just like the cows I have heard on TV
  23. I know it shoots to the right!
  24. My 30-06 has a zeiss 4.5-14 with target turrets(back up rifle) and my 300wm has a 5-20LR huskemaw on it.  I doubt I will ever try to go past 800 yardsn anytime soon;  I am looking for a place to practice some longer shots and check my ballistics and see how well it works.  Practicing in the field is a no no.
  25. I found if i multiply the moa drop by 4 it gives me the clicks needed
