  1. I might stop by
  2. I load .40 S&W so I just consulted my manual. Minimum overall length of cartridge is 1.095 in. Maximum overall length of cartridge is 1.135 in. As far as dangerous, maybe someone else can let us know.
  3. I don't have an issue with my Sig 229 bulging the brass. It's the brass that I pick up at the range that may be an issue since I reload for my Sig.
  4. I was just resizing about 300 .40 S&W and the bulge was noticeable making it easy to distinguish between Glock fired and other.
  5. Good point ... lol
  6. That's the price that I figured out for the 9mm I reload. I have a single stage press, so the initial start up price is low, but is more time consuming than progressive presses. Progressive presses would be a higher start up cost but you crank out the bullets faster. The question really is, is the money that you are saving with reloading, worth the time that you spend reloading? Currently, I reload 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 acp, .38spl, and .357 mag. So I guess my answer to that question is Yes.
  7. A friend in Pennsylvania has/had a S&W .500 with a 6.5 or 8 inch barrel (can't remember which). That thing hurt when you shot it. He also had a AR in .50 Beowulf. Now that thing ... whew.
  8. .38 spls have +p A lot of .38 spls handguns are not recommended to use +p ammo. .357 mags don't have a problem with .38 spl +p ammo.
  9. Thanks for your recommendations. I will make up some new test loads and give it a try.
  10. I stopped in on my way to work today. Those 2 pallets were almost gone, but the cashier were tax stamping a whole other pallet. Picked up one case today, probably get 2 tomorrow. They have a 2 case limit.
  11. Academy also used to have Monarch 9mm for like $6.99 last year. Oh well.
  12. I googled targets and found some printable targets. One website had a bunch that prints on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Works out pretty good.
  13. Thanks for the info
  14. Well, RISC777 met me at OHGC today. Shot some, BS'ed some. Was a little scared about meeting a stranger at a gun club, but everything turned out OK. (That's just a joke) It was funny, I tried his Sigma .40 and my first shot startled me and I hit probably about 2 feet below my target. We both laughed. After about 4 rounds, I got the hang of it. He tried my Sig P229 .40 and he shot well. I think I know what his next gun will be. That's one thing I like about Owl Hollow, it's not just about shooting. I find that I BS more with others than actually shoot. That's a good thing considering the price of ammo right now. Good thing I reload. RISC777, if we able to meet up again, the guest fee is on me. Unless, of course, you go to the orientation on Saturday.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I bought some Federal 22lr yesterday. Some of their prices seemed good but then again I haven't purchased ammo in about 5 months (except for 22lr) since I started reloading.
  16. Ummmm .... I'm a bit confused.
  17. I always used to like Gerber, until I found Cold Steel.
  18. Picking Off someone is an exception? Getting out of ones car to go to the truck to disarm yourself seems that you would bring attention to yourself. Either you get jumped when you disarm or you come back to your car and find it got broken into.
  19. I'll be there on Tuesday afternoon.
  20. For all you reloaders, what powders do you use? I've been only reloading for a few months and have been using only Accurate Arms powder. I've been using #2 for .38spls, #5 for 9mm and .40 S&W, #7 for .45 acp, and #9 for .357 mag. I've tried other caliber/powder combos but settled on the above combos. I've been recommended Titegroup and Bullseye because they can be used for a variety of calibers. What powder have you all had luck with?
  21. I don't care about a knocked up daughter. That's only going to get the religious fanatics in an uproar. I want to know what the candidates views are on gun control, creating jobs, fixing taxes, the war, welfare reform, social security, etc. Things that are actually important. Things that they may actually have a chance to do good on. NOT what kind of dirt they can drag up on each other. I hate political mudslinging which is one main reason why I hate politics.
  22. I'm not sure which of Lee's powder measures you have, but when I was researching powder measures (I've been reloading for about 3-4 months), I looked at MidwayUSA and read the customer reviews. I saw that a lot of people that purchased the Lee powder measures had to modify them in some way to get them not to leak or work better. I ended up buying a Lyman#55 powder measure. It's more than I wanted to spend, but now that I have it, it's well worth it. The only plastic part is the hopper. The guy that taught me how to reload has the #55 and others that I've talked to at the range have it also.
  23. Yes, but I need to buy a lockable cabinet to move my ammo and/or powder into since I'm running out of room in my safe.

    Kimber ?

I bought a Kimber Custom Classic over 8 years ago. I was out of the "Gun Game" due to living in New Jersey. I didn't really read up on anything, one of the indoor ranges closed, and I got married and we had a child. Now that I've been in Tennessee, I've been getting back into shooting. Someone I talked to at the gun club said that Kimber had some trouble with quality for a few years due to some of their gunsmiths moving on. I have no complaints about my 1911 or their customer service. Recently, I broke a part while disassembling it to clean (which was my fault). Also, while removing the grip, one of the grip screw bushing unscrewed from the frame and I ruined it removing it from the grip. I called them up and they replaced the parts free of charge. In short, I have no complaints with my Kimber. I can't make any comparisons to other 1911's since the only other one that I've shot was a Korean War Colt that was my friend father's service gun.
  25. Thanks Sling
