Pardon my ignorance but does this new law state as of the enactment date it will be legal to keep a firearm in a car in ALL parking lots? Public schools regardless of postings?
-
Sending good wishes your way for all those involved. The morning weather says 100% chance of rain today.
-
Good thread. Where would you go to need an exposed firearm?

I think many politicians and bean counters see the "gun permit for all who possess" as a way to generate revenue. it will also deter some who may be on the fence. Then, of course that money will go to some sort of welfare system (said in a grouchy tone). I don't think it will pass though. Universal background checks will pass. I'm afraid the database will exist too. This will help them track areas that may be more prone to gun violence and who may be selling the guns in certain areas. There is a lot of info they can get with that database.

That track is a blast!

Schakowsky: Assault Weapons Ban 'Just the Beginning'
LowBb replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Hey, she has a right to express her opinion and that of her district. Isn't that why we do what we do? isnt that why we fought when we did? There are extremes to every side...right? However, you, me, she, we all know they ain't taking our guns. It's gone too far for that to happen. -
Sending good thoughts your way. Peace.

ETP, I just want to say thank you for a great, intelligent and insightful take on this situation. It, to me, is obvious what this teacher was doing. She was doing lessons on different religions. How that became evil liberals forcing our poor children to dress up like terrorists is beyond me.

ACLU Launches Nationwide Police Militarization Investigation
LowBb replied to LowBb's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
IMHO. We pay taxes for some services. One of the services our tax dollars is allocated for is a police force. Why has the government increased the police force budget in one year by 250 percent? Is it to keep America safe? Is it that heavy out there? This climate makes me want ammo. Why can't I get any? -
ACLU Launches Nationwide Police Militarization Investigation
LowBb replied to LowBb's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
With all due respect, the article is a study on SWAT team and other military police increase in activity and legality. It also states: The George W. Bush administration actually began scaling down the Byrne and COPS programs in the early 2000s, part of a general strategy of leaving law enforcement to states and localities. But the Obama administration has since resurrected both programs. The Byrne program got a $2 billion surge in funding as part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, by far the largest budget in the program's 25-year history. Obama also gave the COPS program $1.55 billion that same year, a 250 percent increase over its 2008 budget, and again the largest budget in the program's history. Vice President Joe Biden had championed both programs during his time in the Senate. -

That's what I'm thinking too. -
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/06/aclu-police-militarization-swat_n_2813334.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular Interesting article about the rise of SWAT teams and other military police. I'm not sure yet what to make of this so I'm hoping to hear from some smarter than me members. That should be easy I know I have been reading posts here about Obama and his army in America. We have been talking about the drone strikes on American soil. This article sort of conforms our worries, at least, toward the end, it talks about the massive jump in funding our police departments have recently received. This may even shine some light on the drop from Glocks to Sigs. Maybe I just need my foil hat, but there are puzzle pieces in front of us.

Expo Center gun show this Sat, Sun March 2-3. Knoxville.
LowBb replied to LowBb's topic in Events and Gatherings
Edited. Thanks Blizzard. I guess I had downtown on my brain. -
http://gunshowtrader.com/gun-shows/knoxville-gun-knife-show/ This is an RK show. I've never been to one at the Expo Center. I just saw they are expecting 500 booths. This should be more than the Jacob's Building shows. Please forgive if there is another thread on this. If there is I could not find it. What are you looking for here?

The instructor said the state has to have them by 90 days but that they are running pretty quick now.

Here was my take on Sat's class. This is from another thread asking what to expect from the class Ok, I took the hand gun carry permit class this past Sat the 23rd and wanted to post some observations and thoughts. - first of all, thanks for all of the TGO members that took time to post on this thread. Your advice and insight came in very handy. - I was very excited about taking the class and arrived at the John Sevier Hunter Ed Center around 830 and was greeted by a VERY nice lady named Pat. I commented on her fun bright pink fleece. Pat was very knowledgeable and cared about informing us all she knew and was eager for all of us to pass the class. I even heard her tell one lady she would stay late and help her pass the shooting portion. Pat also, at one point on the range, did the Hokey-Pokey. - our instructor Doug was very knowledgeable and took the class serious. He was sometimes confusing to me, like when he described legal carry vs permit carry, but that could have been just me. He did a great job preparing us for the test. - I took a crap ton of notes - Doug was very much into the seriousness of choosing to carry a firearm. VERY SERIOUS HE WAS. I learned a great deal of valuable information. F.A.B. - he answered EVERY question we had. The class had 39 people in it. - the class was mostly made up of women. I'd say it was 60-40 women of all ages and backgrounds. - there was a musician friend of mine there. I had a feeling I'd see someone I knew. We shared some knowledge and I told him about TGO - the shooting part was a blast. The target is much much smaller than it was last month. Doug said it was because of a new law. - this was the first time I'd had a chance to take my PX4 9 to a range. I had to aim high when very close in. That thing knocked the center out. - their 22's kept malfunctioning. But the guys were on it!! - all- in- all I loved the class. I must have my wife take it. - we were running around 630 quitin' time. - I need to get a membership there. ( thanks Razz). - the camera girl was cute.

The only one I question, but I would not make it a law I don't think, is reporting stolen firearms. For obvious reasons, I'd report mine if they were stolen. However, if for some reason I did not want to report them as stolen, I should not be made too.

I took this Sat's class. Fixin to post my thoughts on another thread.

True. There is no way in heck Rand Paul gets a nom. IMHO Christie is the gop's best hope at this moment. He appeals to the electorate. Reps need a new face with great ideas that can bring people together. It will have to be someone fairly moderate in order to appeal to the most people.
