Some of the morons at Comedy Central's Sanity gathering
raydog1 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Can we who watched it agree that: Kid Rock was awesome! Ozzy would've been awesome if he wasn't interrupted by the lame comedy bit. Sheryl Crow kept screwing up the lyrics. 2 of the O'Jays looked half-dead. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -
I had to rewind it a few times to lol. Not only does he ride the slide all the way back, but his thumb sweeps up and you hear a distinctive CLICK. I wonder if the guy said: "Hey, there's no safety on this gun!" And the director replied: "You're an ACTOR right? Well...ACT like there's one!" Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro

No delusion required to enjoy this. We don't need him to lead anything. Can't it just be nice to hear some truth for once? I don't care if it's Elmo or Archie Bunker. It's good to hear a popular media personality say, "Maybe more news & fewer apocalypses." Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -

I dvr'ed it. There were some funny moments. It was as non-political as advertised. Mostly it criticized the mainstream media (and I include Fox in that category) and the ridiculous hypercharging of everything they report. The best moment was the keynote which Mike accurately quoted. Stewart was 100% correct. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -
I thought this would be one of those "oh well" stories that "the accused" would just let go away silently into the night. But Remington is fighting back! http://www.shootingwire.com/ "Remington isn't pulling any punches calling the factual accuracy of CNBC's report into question. What appear to be excerpts from an eventual long-form Remington response on their website not only attack the credibility of CNBC's senior correspondent Scott Cohn (whose discomfort in handling a firearm was painful to watch), but question CNBC's interview techniques (questions they didn't ask), the experts cited in the report, and virtually everything else connected to the story. Only the tragic accidents cited in the CNBC report appear - at least at this writing - to be off-limits to very pointed questioning. Frequent references to Remintgon's "10 Commandments of Firearms Safety" however, it would seem to imply that most problems associated with the Model 700 can - ultimately- be traced to a variety of human factors. A section on that website teases an upcoming special report by Joie Chen entitled "Remington Shoots Straight". You might remember Chen as a former CBS/CNN anchor, but today she's not a mainstream news anchor. She is Executive Vice President for Branded News Worldwide, a company which "creates online platforms for organizations and industries to deliver news and programming models for niche audiences." Part of mega-agency Ackerman/McQueen, Branded News Worldwide is in the business of professionally packaging and delivering niche-focused content for organizations as diverse as the Cancer Institute of Oklahoma and the National Rifle Association (NRA News). In other words, Remington's rolling out very heavy artillery to fight back against a report they say was pieced together out of less than whole-cloth. " They've added a few more videos to this site: Remington Click the little white dots in the video window to see them all. It'll be interesting to see if CNBC is up for a little cockfighting with Remington.

Recruiters told they can accept openly gay applicants.
raydog1 replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
Great thread until all the shower crap. If the most flaming gayest dude at the gym hits the shower at the same time I do, I can only wait for him to finish or take my shower and deal with it. I could be a jerk to the manager about it, but that wouldn't change a thing. There is no current legal obligation to provide heterosexual-only showers. Of course, as a civilian, my only concern is to get home in time to watch Stargate Universe. If I'm in the military, I'm sure I have much more pressing matters. Why would they worry about multiple restrooms when nobody else does anywhere else in our daily lives? Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -

I've not seen a single interview where his story (that he just forgot) has changed. The initial reports did vary. Wildly, as they so often do. It's also an important point. Because he's being portrayed by many as a deadbeat, resource-sucking whining liberal SOB and those same people use that characterization to justify their opinions. Some reports are coming in that, instead of an annual $75 fee, they could have had a meager $0.13 increase in property taxes but was voted down. Can anyone confirm this? Who would be against a few pennies added to their taxes to ensure fire protection? Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -

Not only that but he had his "restoring honor" posters on the wall behind him. The word CHARITY in big bold letters as he and Pat made fun of the guy's accent & situation. A guy who's lost so much. Everything is political now. Everybody is the enemy. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -

His interview with CNN this AM: Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com He thought they were coming. When they didn't, he called back to find out they didn't have his fee and weren't going to come. He thought he would still be OK because they waived the fee for his son before. But, they stood their ground this time. I guess somebody had to be the example this year. Turns out they've done this at least 4 times before. -

I'd also recommend that folk get confirmation in person that they're paid in full. Don't just mail it in & hope that some minimum wage earning teenage relative of the chief inputs your data correctly. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -

This sounds like bad policy to me. What if there is a clerical error? I can recall a few times in my life when a company incorrectly said I didn't pay bill. A phone call & a fax cleared it up. How do I handle this when the evidence is burning? I used to travel a lot & on a few occasions forget to drop off the water bill. No biggie. They just tack on a couple bucks & I pay it when I'm back in town. They don't shut off the service. This guy says he's paid before & just forgot this time. He was ready to pay anything. Harsh lesson for doing something we all do: forgetting. There must be a better way. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro -
She trails badly in a Fox News poll: Fox News Poll: Coons Leads O'Donnell By 15 Points In Delaware | TPMDC And there is a report that Tea Party support is spotty: Tea Party Leader Lashes Out Against Christine O'Donnell: "She's a Loser" | Tea Party and the Right | AlterNet "Dodge notes that while it hasn't made national headlines, there is a reasonable and healthy discussion inside the tea party movement about whether O'Donnell deserves national support." There's more at stake here than Castle-hate aka "Throw Da Bums Out!" Stand by her if you want, but I'd strongly recommend that the Tea Party find better candidates if it wants the current momentum to actually mean something long term. There is a 2nd half to this "game."

But Coons doesn't have the disadvantage of being estranged from his own party (yet). And I can completely understand why the GOP has been trying to distance itself from her: Rough Sketch - Christine O'Donnell on human mice, lying to Nazis, and the women of Middle Earth Losing a Senate seat to the Dems because of this lady's loony past = buyer's remorse. Rove is on the money with this one.

Did someone say witch ? O’Donnell says if she were a witch, she’d turn Rove into a ‘Newt’ — Who’s News 9-20-10 | Politerati "The Republican candidate for Delaware's U.S. Senate seat on Sunday addressed revelations that she dabbled in witchcraft, laughing off her 11-year-old on-screen confession about it as an example of nothing more than teenage experimentation." "That witchcraft comment on Bill Maher, I was in high school! How many of you didn't hang out with questionable folks in high school?" she asked the assembled at a Sussex County Republican Party picnic and rally, where she was the featured speaker. "But no, there's been no witchcraft since. If there was, Karl Rove would be a supporter now," O'Donnell joked at the Lincoln, Del., event. Rove has been a sharp critic of O'Donnell's since she won an upset victory over Delaware Rep. Mike Castle ® in the state's GOP primary last Tuesday. On Sunday, Rove raised questions about her witchcraft comments. "In southern Delaware there are a lot of churchgoing people," he said on "Fox News Sunday." "They're going to want to know what that is all about."

I don't see a way the govt. will be able to stop this and that's fine with me. I've been hearing this "monument to their conquest" argument for weeks and I'm trying to remember when we were conquered. I may be forgetting something here but I thought they attacked, we retaliated, and they've been on the run ever since. I'm wearing a cross around my neck with no fear. I'm pretty sure I have the same religious freedoms I've had since 9/11. I don't recall ever having to show any Muslim my papers. These "Islamic Conquerors" must not be very bright because they let me carry my gun & eat pork chops last night. . . in public. It appears to me the only thing this will be a monument to is their utter failure to destroy this nation and our way of life. If radicals are going meet there. I'm fine with that too. There will be so many undercover agents in that building that we might as well call it the CIA Annex Office. I'm sure a satellite or three with all the latest tech is already dialed in on the site. Bring it!

She's admitted to multiple drunk/desperate hookups where she doesn't remember much. Condoms tend to get lost in these circumstances.

NRA follow up email regarding Reid Endorsement
raydog1 replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm still waiting to win one of those drawings where you get a dozen guns and a safe. Putting the stupid little stickers on the entry forms is hard work dangit! So, if anybody wants to quit the NRA, then fine by me. More prizes for the rest of us. And for the record, I'm no Harry Reid fan either. But I can't deny that he has a measure of power & influence that few have on The Hill. He's the master of pushing through unpopular legistlation. If he wants to court the most powerful lobby in DC, that's certainly not a bad thing. As long as he remembers the "you scratch my back" part of the saying. -
NRA follow up email regarding Reid Endorsement
raydog1 replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Agreed. The NRA is a political organization and must operate as such. I cannot expect them to storm Capitol Hill with a bible in one hand & the Constitution in the other with a mandate to crucify anyone who does not follow conservative priciples 100%. I pay them to handle gun ownership & use legislation for me because they have the power to do so. They state their goals very clearly on their website & I don't think that language has significantly changed for years. I can understand someone who has researched the NRA, never joined, and never will because they've never agreed with the NRA's methods & tactics. But, why are some people suddenly shocked now and want to leave? Did they sign up without ever taking a serious look at the NRA and just assume that they operate like another Tea Party? Like any other political entity, they want victories. If they want to leave the NRA, then good luck in finding a successful lobby that doesn't know how to play politics. -
Many years ago I lived with a girl who, after hearing me complain about "another dang solicitor", asked me point-blank: "Why do you even open the door to people you don't know?" I didn't have a rational answer for her (just habit I guess) and I just don't open the door to strangers anymore. That takes care of the problem for me.
