  1. I've been looking everywhere for some new grips for my Springer and haven't seen any that gorgeous. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro
  2. I was thinking the same thing. Just goes to show you, going up against any animal that is designed from head to toe for death & destruction is a losing proposition. No matter how big your rack is! And I have to wonder if the bear actually intended to drown its victim. If so, I have a whole new respect (and fear) for bears. 3. Every article & documentary I've seen says 30 minutes or less for most people. But it can take hours if they want to question you longer. The 'Israelification' of airports: High security, little bother - thestar.com Israeli Airport Security
  4. Though Israeli officials might not admit that it's policy, everyone knows it happens and most aren't concerned because of the success rate and efficiency. It's hard to argue when planes don't fall out of your sky and you don't have to show up 2 hours early to make it through check-in/security.
  5. This could be considered profiling. They're arresting you based on your being in posession of a firearm in their jurisdiction in order to determine if your gun is legal in your point of departure and/or your final destination. Anyone declaring a firearm is automatically considered a criminal in NY & NJ even if that is not your point of departure or destination. The law is supposed to protect you from this. My point is it's too late. Profiling is here and gunowners are targets and it's not fun. I think we're in agreement about the slippery slope.
  6. This is already happening. Declaring your firearm and traveling through NY or NJ can get you arrested no matter what the "law" says : NRA-ILA :: "Special Advisory for New York and New Jersey Airports: Despite federal law that protects travelers, authorities at JFK, La Guardia, Newark and Albany airports have been known to enforce state and local firearms laws against airline travelers who are merely passing through the jurisdiction. In some cases, even persons traveling in full compliance with federal law have been arrested or threatened with arrest. Litigation on this issue is ongoing. Travelers should strictly comply with FOPA and with airline and TSA policies regarding firearms transportation, avoid any unnecessary deviations on the way to checking in their baggage, be well acquainted with the firearms laws of the jurisdictions between which they are traveling, and have any necessary permits or licenses ready for inspection."
  7. The Israelis do not rely on profiling alone. In fact, we don't know all the details of how they handle airport security because they don't openly share that info for obvious reasons. So, be careful what you ask for. There is technogy involved that they keep secret (and I have a feeling that might upset some people here who always want full disclosure in everything the govt. does 24/7). What they have shared with us is a good starting point and a lesson in how to truely handle airport security without letting emotions get in the way. First of all, wait time from parking lot to waiting area is less than 30 minutes. They throw several people at you starting with the drive into the airport. These people are highly trained and make face-to-face contact and look for any sign that you're not just an average patron. If they see one of the many behavior indicators they're looking for, you get some questions. Continue to act strange, you get searched, and likely some more questions. Most terrorists are terrible actors, and can't handle this amount of scrutiny. Most confess quickly. If you're a non-jew, it's very likely you'll get extra scrutiny. And that's just the way it is. They're obviously more worried about non-jews because they're the most likely source of attacks. Any football/basketball coach worth his salt will make sure to double-team the most dangerous player on the opposing team. It's not profiling, it's properly disbursing your resources to manage the higher percentage of threats. Does it upset the double-teamed guy? Sure. Not fair? Nobody ever told you life was fair. Don't like it? Then don't fly. Lastly, patrons don't know exactly what is happening in the background, how officials are trained, what technology is being used and when it's used. Do you feel a Democratic society requires full disclosure? Too freaking bad. They have a country to protect. Don't like it? Move to America where planes are hijacked and flown into national treasures. Again, if you're all good, you get through all this in less than 30 minutes. Sounds like a good deal to me.
  8. Smallville lasted 10 seasons & didn't even scratch the surface of all the available comic book material. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro
  9. My family & I couldn't wait to watch this but we were disappointed with it. Too much reality-tv scripting and not enough Alaska. Funniest part for me was her telling us how Alaska leads the nation in bush-plane deaths and the very next scene was her hurrying the children into a bush-plane. Mmmkay. 10. Haven't been to the Smyrna BWW for a couple months, but they weren't posted the last time I was there. Hope they don't but won't hesitate to mark them off the list if they do. Too many good places to eat who haven't posted. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro
  11. If you liked that, then watch [REC] which is the original Spanish version that Quarantine was based (literally frame-by-frame copy with subtitles & a hotter lead). The only reason to watch the original is to watch [REC]2 which is even better than the original(s). Just imagine Quarantine with commandos, demonic possession, and gun- toting children. 13. Come on, lol. How many times have I read in this very forum about how much he hates the military and how much they hate him back? Surely there would be BP-sized leaks all over the place if it really costs that much. Besides, that number wouldn't just anger our citizens. It would make us look terrible in the eyes of the world. Remember, he's supposed to be constantly apologizing for American excess and exceptionalism. A $200 million/ day trip to India would certainly fly in the face of that perception. 14. Agreed! We may have yet another retraction of a gun/automobile-related expose by a mainstream news org. It's been quite a while since we've seen one. Unless CNBC has a reponse to this, I'd say Remington has closed the book. They just need to get some reps out to these knee-jerking PDs. Some free rifles, accessories, dinner ought to sooth their frayed nerves.
  15. Who you gonna believe??? Glen Beck? (who got his info from Michelle Bachman who got her info from a tabloid who got its info from an article in an India newpaper who got its info from an anonymous source in India) or The Department of Defense? (Who might have first hand knowledge of what's actually going on with top secret security details.) <sarcasm>Obviously, the DoD is in Obama's pocket.</sarcasm>
  16. Reasons to not draw your weapon on an armed adversary: 1: Backstop is a bunch of kids, nuns, elderly celebrating a birthday party. 2: Adversary is too close to draw on without first distracting him by saying "Look over there. . . BOOBIES!" 3. Police on the scene already about to shoot that fool, thus saving you legal fees. NOT reasons to not draw your weapon on an armed adversary: 1: Afflicted with Big & Burly Disease 2: WHY? My boyz gots my back! 3: He just actin' crazy. I mean a derringer? Really?
  17. Remington's dissection of the CNBC story: The Shooter's Log http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YFIwoZsWHk&feature=player_embedded The story is starting to have an effect on police deptartments: Remington Model 700 Rifle Dropped by Portland, Maine Police | NewsInferno "The department's chief told local media that he decided to take the rifles out of service after he saw the CNBC report, and that prior to its airing, he was unaware that the rifle had been the subject of so many complaints. The Portland Police Department also contacted Remington about the problem but was told the weapons were no longer under warranty, USA Today said. The Portland Police Department is not the only agency to have experienced problems with the Remington Model 700 rifle, USA Today said. The police department in Kissimmee, FL, sold its 700s after one inadvertently went off during a drug raid in 2005. The national police force of New Zealand has also stopped using the rifles because of safety concerns. Inadvertent discharges of rifles at the Marine sniper training school at Camp Lejeune, NC also led to a meeting between corps officials and Remington. Eventually, the Marine Corps changed procedures for handling the rifles, USA Today said."
  18. What the heck happened to her? Seems like she was getting A-ratings until restaurant carry came around. Project Vote Smart - Representative Beth Harwell - Interest Group Ratings Does she have some connection with the restaurant industry? I could only find an article about Rayburn calling her out on his Facebook page about it. Press Releases | Charles Ihrig
  19. Brady Bunch is all over this kind of stuff, BTW. I guess they had to find some silver lining: Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence : Media Twenty-seven Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives who were endorsed by the National Rifle Association were defeated yesterday, while only two incumbent Democratic House members who co-sponsored a major gun control bill this session lost their re-election bids. Of the 49 Democratic incumbents who lost, 29 (59 percent) had an A rating from the NRA and 25 (51 percent) received financial support from the NRA. Of the 176 incumbent Democrats who won reelection, 145 (82 percent) did so without the NRA endorsement. In contrast, only two of the 101 Democratic House incumbents who co-sponsored legislation to close the gun show loophole lost yesterday. Those losses were offset by Democratic House seat pickups by gun control supporters in Louisiana and Hawaii.
  20. I agree. Dems must be thinking: 2A Support = No love in the voting booth.

  22. Already tried that but, you guessed it, it was already full of flyers. I think that's where they come from. He even got my cell # somehow. I keep waiting to see his NO vote on SB 3012 listed on one of those flyers, but it's oddly missing. I'll remind him of that with my vote tomorrow. Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk Pro
