  1. I'd highly recommend the Volquartsen Automatic Bolt Release and the Extended Magazine Release. Made my 10/22 much easier to operate. You can get them just about anywhere gun parts are sold online. Very cheap and easy to install.
  2. Lines not as long here as they were last night. But still have police directing traffic at one of the stations this morning. One thing to be proud of: Though there have been reports of angry confrontations and a little bit of road rage, no reports of HCP owners cutting a swath across town for a bit of petrol. You just KNOW the media is waiting for it.
  3. Mailman was good to me today. 52 days.
  4. I was just told the same thing. She said it was issued yesterday. Excellent if true!
  5. "The more law-abiding people that have guns the better off we are," said Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said. Short but interesting wiki page on this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Deters He needs to keep moving up the political ladder. We need more like him in DC.
  6. Geez! Now I feel like I'm cleaning mine too much. I always clean them when I clean the gun. Since I already have the cleaner and tools out, and it takes no time to do it. I figure, why not?
  7. And a box of 50 round 9mm is usually around 2 pounds according to the packages I get from various online retailers. So stock up if you're in a place with less tax. Just make sure your luggage isn't over 50 lbs. I have had the nice ladies of Southwest let me slide with 51 lbs a few times though. But they'll give you a stern talking-to about it.
  8. I travel frequently and tend to visit any Bass Pros I come across for ammo. Sales tax is usually less and my company is technically paying for the "shipping". I usually fly Southwest or Northwest and I just put the retail boxes in my checked luggage. No need for a special box or to declare it. I put one in each corner of the suitcase just to force TSA to wade through my dirty underwear to get to 'em (hehe). Done it dozens of times and I've never seen the boxes moved. Just be aware that they always claim ZERO responsibility for missing ammo/guns. So if the inspectors really want some of that Wolf you got a killer deal on, they can take it and there's nothing you can do but pout.
  9. I worked with a guy once who had 2 pit bulls and 2 roommates. We were on a business trip when he got a call from one of the 'mates saying he had a friend over and they were playing with the dogs when the friend was bitten, had to go to the emergency room, sheriff was called, etc. Having met these dogs, I was surprised (they seemed pretty friendly at the time and I had no problems playing with them) but concerned for this guy knowing the damage they could do. So I ask him, "How is that guy? Is he OK?" His response, "I dunno! What was he doing anyway? He wasn't playing with them right! You can't wrestle around them, it upsets them! " ME: "Uhm, might be a good idea to find out if the guy still has all his limbs and such. Soooooooo, they were wrestling with the dogs? That's not smart. No wonder he was bitten." HIM: "No, my roommates were wrestling each other! The dogs don't like that!" ME: "So, the roommates weren't touching the dogs. . . and the dogs bit them? Aaannnddd, you're blaming the roommates for this?" HIM: "Yeah! They should know better!" ME: "Maybe a kennel is in order when you're on long trips, eh?" HIM: "I guess I'll have to from now on, huh?" Moral of the story is, the dog owner will probably blame you no matter what. In court, you'll be the cold killer Rambo-type and the dog will be pure, innocent Fluffy who would never hurt a fly unless YOU provoked him, yadda yadda.

    Airsoft

I travel a lot and get real bored during layovers so I tend to pick up magazines on a whim. So, last week, I grabbed the latest copy of "Combat Handguns" off the rack for the hell of it and they have an interesting article on the M15A2 (mimics the M16A2 almost exactly according to the article). Seems they make great tools for teaching the proper shooting position to our military. BTW, here's a link to the mag's site if you're interested: http://www.tactical-life.com/ Just click on the Combat Handguns tab for links to several articles in the mag. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a link to the M15A2 article there.
  12. Thanks for pointing that out! I'm glad that was addressed.
  13. Still sounds like a legal problem if defending your home in DC. Prosecutor: "How where you able to get to your gun, unlock it, load it, and fire so quickly." Defendant: "Uhm, what are you talking about? Of course it was loaded and unlocked. They lifted the ban, right?" Prosecutor: "The prosecution rests your honor." I wonder what can be done about the tight restrictions in light of this legal victory.
  14. This entire thread has made my day! "I can shoot bowf ways wid dah dubba glah." Absolutely insane.

    She's a beaut...

. . . or some lotion. Probably a museum out there that would love that gun.
