I walked right into that one didn't I.

My post was lost too so I'd better renew my pledge to do the same. Also, I guarantee to promote any establishment that allows us to carry and do the very opposite for those who don't. Word of mouth goes a long long way in the service industry.

Man, I just watched it (DVR'ed). Apparently, I have no chance with my gun because the active shooters will always be highly trained police officers who know exactly where I am in a tiny room where I will be in the front row, need to fumble with a thumb break, and have no chance to find good cover. And I just loved the piece where the cute little kid shows us his terrible ghetto neighborhood and BEGS Obama to do something about the gangs and the no-snitching attitudes prevalent in such environments. Though, he doesn't specify exactly what he wants Obama to do. I guess since they threw it in this story about guns, the little kid must want the reinstitution of the 1994 AWB. Even though he wasn't even alive at the time to see its failure to help neighborhoods like his. Oh yeah, and playing dead and/or running are the ONLY solutions to an active shooter scenario. But they never tell me which one is best. Can't do both at the same time. If I can't make good decisions with a firearm as an option because of the adrenaline rush, how do I make the decision between playing dead or running? Where do I get that training? Speaking of training, they talk about how important it is, but they don't mention that even us "dumb" civilian gun owners can easily obtain it. And they didn't give it to their "test subjects." They just put them on a static range for a few minutes and then threw them in the no-win scenario. Also loved that they picked the worst examples of self-defense Youtube videos you could find. Especially the one where it looks like this guy nearly shot a baby when fending off an armed robber because of the bad camera angle. Even the police, at the time, said it was a good shoot if I remember this case correctly. But it was never reported in the mainstream media. Only the local newspaper correctly reported that he did the right thing. I agree with the rest of you. This was pure and the prelude to more to come. Senator Feinstein will discuss this on 60 Minutes tomorrow. The good news is she's holding off the AWB renewal because she's not "politically" stupid right now: Feinstein: Not The Time For Gun Control

Tennessean was quick to report on this: "The House passed HB0962, the guns-in-restaurants bill that would allow handgun carry permit holders to take weapons into restaurants that serve alcohol. The bill, as amended, would ban those weapons from restaurants from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The bill now moves to the Senate, where it currently sits in committee. The House vote, 70-26, would be enough to override a potential veto by Gov. Phil Bredesen, who has said he’ll make his decision when, and if, a bill comes to his desk." Now is the time for the editorials saying how the blood will flow through the aisles while you're eating your Bloomin Onion. -

Dang barrel shrouds'll bite you in the arse every time! She'd suing but the AG says, "Whadda ya mean dis ain't followin' da 2nd Amendment?" "Hanson tried to register a two-tone, stainless steel/black pistol, according to the suit. But the list has that model in olive drab green, dark earth or black, not in two-tone, stainless/black, the suit asserts. Hanson said rejection for that reason "seemed so arbitrary." The lawsuit, which lists Hanson and two other people as plaintiffs, was filed by Alan Gura, who argued the Supreme Court case that overturned the city's handgun ban. Arbitrary requirements bring "nonsensical results," Gura said. The suit asks that the city be barred from enforcing gun regulations based on the California list. Peter Nickles, the city's attorney general, said he had not seen the lawsuit and could not discuss its details. But he said he is confident that the D.C. regulations are "completely appropriate" under the Second Amendment." -
! I heard this on XM on the road and it was the first thing I checked when I got home. Sure enough, I'm in the database. It's always good to hear Dobbs go off about Second Amendment rights though. Wish there were more like him on CNN. I hope this rag dies a quick death like all the other useless rags. Good luck staying relevant "commercial appeal."

Dang! Holder=pwned! By his own party even.

I've always liked Lou Dobbs. One of the few CNN reporters on our side. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA66glWvZhs

Not in so many words, but they all tried to "calm the masses" with a message that suggested they would not pursue this. At least, not this soon: "Such assault weapons are among the firearms that gun dealers and customers say they fear Obama will hit with new restrictions, or even take off the market. Virginia gun owner Kyle Lewandowski said he was buying a .45-caliber pistol to "hedge my bets." "Every election year, you have to worry about your rights being eroded a little bit at a time," he said. "I also knew, because of the Democrat majority and because of the election, everybody would have the same reaction I did," he added. But Peter Hamm, a spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, called the buying spree "goofy." He said widespread talk of banning guns is a "sales pitch." "With the glacial speed that we make progress on sensible gun laws, savvy gun consumers should know better than to think they have to rush out and buy guns," Hamm said. Similar surges accompanied the election of Bill Clinton, the last Democratic president, he added. Dealers in Colorado, Ohio, Connecticut and New Hampshire also reported seeing major increases. "It's a fact that the liberal Democrats that now control all three branches of our government do not like guns. They want us out of business," Connecticut resident Scott Hoffman said. "They don't want the average American to have a right to defend themselves." And New Hampshire gun owner Lloyd Clement said, "I think there's going to be an attack to some degree on the gun owners." The Clinton administration imposed a ban on several types of military-style semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines in 1994, but that ban was allowed to lapse in 2004. Obama has proposed restoring the ban, requiring background checks for buyers at gun shows, and other "common-sense measures." He has said he supports the rights of local governments to set their own gun laws, but believes the Second Amendment to the Constitution protects individual gun rights. "I believe the Second Amendment means something. I do think it speaks to an individual right," Obama said in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in February. With the U.S. economy in a tailspin, however, the president-elect's advisers say gun legislation is not a high priority. "What people do is their own business, and if they decide to go out and buy guns they'll go out and buy guns, assuming that they are eligible to buy guns," John Podesta, the co-chairman of Obama's transition team, told reporters Sunday. "But I think that President-elect Obama has been clear in his campaign that what he wants to focus on is the economy, trying to get jobs growing again, dealing with the health care crisis, and dealing with our dependence on foreign oil."

Yeah, it was funny to hear them brag about FBI statistics concerning how safe our parks are. Then, in the next breath, talked about how dangerous baseball dads are. Like some HCP carrying father is going to start blasting the moment the umpire says "OUT!" They use statistics to support their claim that guns aren't needed in parks, but ignore statistics that show HCP owners don't just shoot people because they're in a bad mood.

I bought this for my Mossy 500 and the optional cheekrest: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=873014 and the light mount that's easily attached to the bottom of the grip: http://www.nextag.com/ATI-Shotgun-Flashlight-Mount-555005192/prices-html?nxtg=cc70a240516-939BBB9AFED4E6B1 I put a $20 Brinkman light from Academy Sports on it: http://www.brinkmann.net/Shop/Detail.aspx?category=Flashlights+%26+Spotlights&subcategory=Flashlights&sku=820-1025-0&seriesname=Lithium-Xenon&seriessku=FLA-2000-4&id=138 . . . and 50+ rounds later no problems. It lights up nicely and the mount is very firm. It doesn't shift after several rounds like it did with some other solutions I tried.

New Speaker of the House: Rep. Kent Williams

"expand the areas where people with handgun permits can carry weapons" I don't care how he obtained the position if he can do this. He will be my "The One" if he can get us into restaurants and public parks. -
Agreed that it's very easy. Sometimes they don't even bother to actually check the gun at BNA where they just tell me to lock the case and they wave me on through. The only slightly negative experience I had was in Detroit (DTW) a couple months ago where I had to wait a few minutes for a guy to show up to check the gun. However, once he showed up he was quick and polite and I was 2 hours early anyway so no harm. Just make sure you arrive early enough to be able to deal with this possibility. If I had been running late, I might have felt differently about it but that really would've been on my head for running late.

I love this line: ". . . parks and refuges are designed to be havens of peace and safety, and visitors who do not like guns will not be able to fully enjoy such areas if they know that another visitor in close proximity may be carrying a loaded and concealed firearm." I'm gonna correct this for truth: ". . . parks and refuges are designed to be havens of peace and safety but end up being targets for rape, robbery, and murder, and law abiding gun carry permit owners who do not like guns only in the hands of criminals will not be able to fully enjoy such areas if they know that a criminal in close proximity may be carrying a loaded and concealed firearm and that visitors have no defense against such criminals."

http://www.upi.com/news/issueoftheday/2008/11/05/Obama_Dems_win_historic_blowout_victory/UPI-40391225895936/ "Obama did not win a record landslide, but he won the most decisive Democratic victory in 44 years since Lyndon Johnson's 1964 landslide over Sen. Barry Goldwater, another Arizona Republican. Goldwater was the prophet of the long era of Republican-conservative domination of U.S. national politics that truly began with Richard Nixon's narrow victory over Hubert Humphrey in 1968. McCain's defeat may prove its death knell. It was the first time since 1964 that the Democrats won more than 50 percent of the total vote. Virginia, the Old Dominion, went Democrat for the first time since 1964. Obama was vastly helped in both his primary and presidential campaigns by the many mistakes of his opponents. Clinton picked inept state campaign managers and organization administrators. She ignored caucuses and minor primaries across the United States. She ran one of the most woefully mismanaged campaigns in modern U.S. political history. McCain sorely lacked the drive, innovation and focus of Karl Rove, who masterminded Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns. He looked good on national security, experience and leadership issues until the great Wall Street meltdown, but then he was never convincingly able to articulate any credible responses to it. McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate had mixed results. The Palin pick should be credited with a major role in repelling Obama's anticipated challenge in some Heartland states. But it cost McCain badly among college-educated middle-class swing voters. With the benefit of hindsight, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney would have been a vastly superior pick to reassure the conservative base and also speak credibly on the economic meltdown. But McCain did not like him. By contrast, Obama's instinct for continuity and moderation in his own vice presidential choice has already served him well. For all his many well-reported gaffes, veteran Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., fulfilled his function of bringing massive foreign policy experience and reassuring familiarity and niceness to the Democratic ticket. Like his hero, President John F. Kennedy, Obama was cool, intellectual and reflective in his political strategizing. If he can maintain those qualities and that outlook in the coming months, he will be off to a good start."

I was watching that with my mother and we must've replayed it about a dozen times just to see that bad-a$$ look on his face. Don't mess with Texas baby!

A friend sent this to me the other day: http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=Bad_Boys_II You can see one in action in Bad Boys II when the girl in the SUV fends a guy off with one before the big interstate car chase scene. Looks like it be good in a situation when a bad guy is trying to jack your SUV from the rear door.

"Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more." This quote concerns me more than anything else in that article. The Brady Bunch is practically DARING us to buy guns. Normally, I think they're a bunch of stuck-up windbags. But their confidence may not be misplaced here. I'm not getting the warm fuzzy feeling I had when I read the latest letter from the NRA using the Roosevelt and Heston quotes.
