  1. I'm right there with you. Frankly it's the largest reason I pay to be a member of the forums - and I'm not able to make best use of the one feature I value most (hawking the classifieds).
  2. I correlate the new classifies section with no longer receiving the "wallet depleting" forum updates. Research on the site shows that there are actually two classifies sections on the site now. I also see these are independent "forum subscriptions". I was subscribed to the old forum - I'm now subscribed to the "new" forum linked by the header menu. I realize the content is the same, but the url's and subscriptions are different. I wonder if this is somehow related to what's going on with notifications. Link from header menu and below classifieds menu https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/classifieds/category/3-firearms-classifieds/ Link from main site content - not the header menu https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/forum/39-firearms-classifieds/
  3. I did get a notification from updating my post - it went to my old email address not the new one I entered a few days ago. It's also strange to me that it came from trending@tapatalk.com. Maybe the tapatalk module needs to be re-synced to the website if it's the middleman for update notifications on the site? Also, no other messages in my new gmail inbox or spam from trending@tapatalk.com since the email change to this address.
  4. I changed to gmail from my personal email, I've not received any emails on any subscriptions prior to the move or after the move to gmail. I've searched my gmail inbox including spam for messages from noreply@tngunowners.com and the only message I have from that address is the "address change verification" message that came thru, and I clicked, during the address change procedure. I miss getting notified of classifieds changes and additions...but my wallet appreciates it. Now I'm going to click the "notify me of replies" button on this post - see see if it's truly isolated to the classifieds in my case.
  5. I"m in the exact same spot.
  6. wow! I think your paperwork might be shoved in between the Overtime and TPS reports.
  7. gotcha. I'm impatient! Thanks for your update.
  8. so you're still waiting on the 7/12 forms?
  9. I noticed the slide was marking the frame when I racked it a few times. I thought that was odd. It made metal shine on one side of the frame. Probably hadn't been racked in many years. I also noticed the slide had markings on the right side, and I thought I'd read the slide would be blank on period correct slides.
  10. I just imagine my wife going thru the same ordeal when I'm gone.
  11. I did strip it but did not find a serial number on the slide. I guess I didn't look hard enough. I do see a few stamps on the frame though that look interesting.
  12. Hey all, I've had a friend pass, and his widow has offered to me his 1911. He picked the gun up from an attic of an Officer who had passed when he bought the old house where the gentleman lived. He's had in an a drawer ever since. Wondering if you guys can help me understand what we have here, and what a fair price to offer her would be.
  13. I was just looking at the VP9 from a grab a gun email. This is a better deal by a good bit! If only the barrel were threaded too.
  14. this is getting close to the last days of Trust filings isn't it? I submitted three that last day or two. Getting excited!
  15. Thanks! Going to watch these now!
  16. I've had problems with Frog Lube and cold weather. The stuff turned into a paste like substance causing my bolt to have trouble operating properly on my AR-10. I quit using it after that experience. Now I use CLP and rem oil.
  17. - OS my kind of humor!
  18. Beautiful gun, I wish I had those orange baseplates. They would match my orange grips perfectly! Oh well...

My Grandad was the ran the B-52 maintenance and repair shop - he was also a machinist. I wish I'd paid more attention to what was going on all those years I piddled in the shop while he made things. I picked up some of it, but not nearly what I could have.

I have a model made by IBM! Being into technology, I am especially fond of and fascinated by the manufacturer.
  21. I've been oiling them and cleaning dust. Certainly want to protect the aging. The bolt action is very interesting to me. That's the one that has bluing rubbed off, I was mistaken originally. The 1897 is in pretty good shape actually, a little surface rust here and there. I'd like to shoot it. I"m going to take it by my local shop and have the gunsmith look it over for any issues that would prohibit shooting.
  22. This is my "private" range on my land.
  23. Thanks, I've got alot to learn. Looks like I"m headed in the right direction.
  24. That info would be helpful for sure. I'm shooting 6.5 Creedmor. I'm working on a range that will allow for 900 yard shots.
  25. Guys I'm hoping to get some help with a setup I've got. I recently got my Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 mounted on my rifle which has a 20 MOA base. My understanding is the optic has 60 MOA of total Elevation. (This is about where my knowledge stops - and learning begins). I zeroed the rifle at 100 yards. I added the zero stop shims as directed. Now what I see is from zero, I have just over 3 revolutions (12 moa per), roughly 38 MOA of elevation left. I've read that to shoot out this far I need 55 MOA, but I'm thinking that's not absolute as I see others going that far w/ less MOA on 6.5. Any comments here? Also, I' thought about zeroing the rifle at 200, to get more MOA up, but this doesn't really add up for me - and seems to be against the norm. Here's a summarized statement I found on 200 zeros at the end of my post. So am I on the right track overall here? And What are the turret markings in elevation for if my zeroed elevation shows over 200 on the turret indicator? I'd love to catch with some local guys (Memphis) and get a download on all this. Youtube and the internet aren't quiet gluing it together for me just yet. Bryan Litz of Applied Ballistics recommends a 100yd zero because at that range environmental differences are moot. Where zeroing a few hundred yards further can be fine where you live, but travel to another location and density altitude and the longer zero can be way off. A 100yd zero is common practice for a reason!"
