Hello, I'm building a new AR and looking at optics for it. Mostly I just shoot at my farm, cans, plates and such. Sometimes we get out to longer distances as I'm able to cut new shooting lanes. I'm looking at the Vortex scope, and wondering about ya'lls thoughts on the reticle options. They have a MRAD, MOA and JM-1 options. Most of the ammo I shoot is the 55gr M193 stuff. Does this make the MOA reticle a better option for me? Thanks for any thoughts and opinions...

I'll take them and put up a black front vertical forearm grip for an AR-15.

The bias against guns: What the media isn't telling you
MemHeli replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
guns don't kill people! Preach on brother! -
What was the point of the Yugoslavian rework I wonder? Been reading on these pistols and understand they made a bunch of them. The other Ruby I have has a protruding post on the side to protect the safety when holstering the weapon. These were installed in the 1930's but the Yugo model doesn't which is curious to me if it underwent a rework. What would be a reasonable offer for this gun? I'm interested in buying it from a friend.

Hey guys, I'm looking for some assistance identifying this pistol. I think it's basically the same as my Victor Ruby in 32 cal, but am struggling to find the manufacturer. It's got quiet a bit of wear on the right side of the wood grip which tells me it was carried and used a lot. Any help appreciated on manufacturer and value.

Ok thanks!

What makes it a transitional?

I didn't realize that, but will take into consideration before sweating all over it! ;) I did give it a good coating of lube to fend off / clean a bit. I spent a fair amount of time yesterday researching the engraving, and the initials on the side monogram. Haven't found much other than it was done in Germany...nothing on the EBH initials though.
-
Thank you. This gun does have the screw in trigger guard. I sent you a pm. It's neat to look at all the detail on the engraving. Each detail has it's own character. I'd like to carry it, but I don't know...seems a shame to lock it up.
-
I was hoping someone here could help me date this Chiefs Special and provide some knowledge on the engraving. I've read that it was likely done in Germany just after WWII. There are also some initials engraved on the right side...not sure what those are about.

It's a legit deal I'm sure. I was just concerned that I can't find any of these for sale used to base a good sale price on. Either they aren't popular, or people don't sell them often... I guess it's the latter.

Guys, I'm looking at buying a used Nighthawk. It's got holster wear, a light idiot mark, but other than that it looks like really low time on the gun. He's asking 1900 for the gun. I've been researching and have not really found any of these guns on the market used. And, the ones I"m seeing new have no bids on them. What's the story on these guns? The gun listed for 3K new. What do you guys think of this deal, and the gun itself? Thanks for any input. sq

Does anyone have a few rounds of Weatherby 340?
MemHeli replied to MemHeli's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I will let him know about the brass for sure. I actually could not wait till we went shooting and called him to break the news a little while ago. He was super pumped. Thanks again Kurt! As for shooting it, I'm pretty sure we will be firing off at least a few rounds soon weather permitting. To check the sights of course. I'll get some pics when we go out. -

Yea it's pricey. He was at first talking about selling the gun. I told him I'd buy it, figuring I'd sell it back to him in 5 years when he changed his mind realizing he wanted to keep it…I've since convinced him to keep it since it was his dads. Thanks for any help as you can guys. Sounds like we need to get into reloading, this being just one more reason. -
A good friend of mine just got a gun that shoot Weatherby 340 from his father who recently passed. He has talked about wanting to shoot it, but not finding any rounds reasonably priced. Anyone here have some stuffed in their safe they aren't going to use? I'd like to get a few and surprise him with them next weekend when we plan on going shooting. Thanks sq

roger that. I will study up on that one. I definitely want some magnification…eye's are as fresh as they once were.

Guys, I picked up a Tavor, now I'm looking for a scope. I think I'm more interested in a scope with some good magnification, more than a red-dot 1X setup. I like shooting out a little distance and see that as being where I primarily spend time with the rifle…although I understand it wasn't necessarily built for that. It does have a 16.5" barrel after all which is not really too short for some distance shots right. I first thought about putting a TA31 on the rifle, but now I'm thinking more about a traditional scope with illuminated reticle of some kind. I've also read that the scope will need special attention to mounting height / type to get the scope centered properly for cheek position. This is the second scope I've purchased. Novice here. I would like to hear your thoughts and recommendations.

It looks intact, not drilled, and still has a primer on the bottom. So I guess it's live. Would love to know more about it… I've looked online for lot number info, but not finding anything. It's a serious chunk of metal for sure! Edit: After more research, this thing doesn't look like any 20mm ammo I'm finding online. It's not like these http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/20mm3.jpg Or these from WWII http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/20mm2.jpg Or these WWI http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/20mm1.jpg The bottom of the shell is distinctly different, and the overall height is a lot shorter. I'm thinking maybe a tracer round or something.

My Grandfather served in the Navy during WWII. He witnessed testing of the a-bomb from his ship. I found this shell in his tool box while going thru things yesterday. From the research I've done, it appears this matches up with a 20mm anti-aircraft gun they Navy was using. I also read that they didn't find the round to effective against the Kamikaze pilots, so around 1944, the 20mm was being replaced quickly. Anyone have any more info on this shell? I wonder if he brought it home from the ship? There is also a lot number on the shell, I don't have that photo.

New executive actions on gun background checks
MemHeli replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm not sure where I fall on this. It's a challenge for me. A quote comes to mind though. "They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -
I'll take the holster. I have a couple of magazines I'll list up later this afternoon. Edit: Sigma SV40E 15 round magazines (2) Looks like I was seconds late.

my neighbor repairs these phones all the time. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my address to ship it to me/him and have him check it out. May just be a connector popped off or something. I suspect your data is still there and accessible. Best of luck.

For Christmas. She loves it! We are going to shoot it this weekend. She's excited, which means I'm excited. I really like the fact that it's made in the USA. Over the last 5 years I've really tried to buy made in USA products above others, even at higher cost. All x-mas presents given this year by my fan were made in USA. Anyway, just had to share. Merry Christmas TGO'ers. Happy Holiday's, be safe, and protect your liberty. sq
