  1. TDY this weekend unfortunately. I wanted to go and scope some supplies.
  2. Smoke Berry...   I'm familiar with Predator having done business with them YEARS ago when they were in the back of guns n more. I recently e-mailed them about an AR build but never received a reply. I suppose I will have to drive down there.        I did take off the plate and check it out. The spring is in place but the machined part that is the stop is actually broken. I've looked at some of the parts places to see if I can find one, but due to the age of the gun, I'm having a hard time positively identifying the model and thus, which part to buy. So I do what I always do....refer to a subject matter expert.
  3. Welcome Welcome..Congrats on your 20!
  4. I'm interested in attending an IDPA event with the hopes of getting involved. Are there any events in the East TN region? Particularly east of Knoxville. I don't mind traveling a little bit, but my schedule makes long trips or overnight trips impractical.
  5. Mixed feelings. My first sidearm was the Hi-power, I currently have an Italian production Beretta and I like them both. While the idea that the Hi-power doesn't handle the +P is a consideration, as you said it was a range and fun gun, I don't see that being an issue. I'm partial to the single actions and so the Hi-power appeals to me and my leanings towards it being my "first" make me biased. I've never fired the CZ but it seems to be a well liked weapon. A very difficult decision. Perhaps you should rethink your question and make a new plan. Instead of "Which gun do I buy?" Ask yourself, "Which gun do I buy first?"   Get 'em all!
  6. I bought my wife the FNP in 9mm and liked it so much, I tried to steal it back. She didn't allow that though. I paid $550 for that one at a gun show when they first came out and that was with 3 mags and a blade tech holster. Naturally the price goes up with popularity and a record of performance. Granted it isn't the .45 but I find it very reliable and it shoots fantastically. The first run of them had an aluminum guide rod and the recoil spring cut into it and created shavings. I contacted FNH and told them. The guy wasted all of 3 seconds finding a pen, took down my address and sent a brand new coated steel guide rod free of charge, no questions asked. Excellent service and an excellent product. Prices vary depending on location, who you're dealing with and current political climate. Honestly, I don't think you will be disappointed and that is a pretty solid investment.
  7. Here...FC is the only grub in town aside from WM...no Sams club here.
  8. Gents, how difficult would it be to make an affordable repair to a 1930's S&W M&P .38 that I acquired. Nothing too fancy, I'm not looking to completely restore it, but return it to firing capability. The cylinder stop has apparently been broken off so that the cylinder free spins.  Otherwise, it seems to be in workable order.    Recommendations?
  9. Mellow greetings and welcome.
  10. I prefer to make my gun and ammo purchases from gun and ammo people.    I won't feel the need to boycott them as I rarely choose to grace their stores anyway. Most of the things that I need that they carry I buy elsewhere already. I don't go to one big store so that I can get it all right there. When I want groceries, I go to Food City, when I want paper goods and cleaning supplies, I go to the Dollar General. When I need tools I go to a hardware store, and when I need guns and ammo, I go to the gun shop.    Now I do understand that the locations of WM stores means that for many people, WM is the most conveniently located and affordable place to purchase ammo, but I'm going to choose to look at this from a different vantage point. If WM is the closest or only place in an area to make these purchases and they cease to sell these items, perhaps this will create a viable market demand in that area for an individual to open a new gun store to provide for the gun and ammunition needs of that geographical area. It could actually be a boon for gun store owners. I'm thinking that if they do so in my area, perhaps I will apply for my FFL and just open a shop here. Just a thought.
  11. Greetings Neighbor!
  12. Does anyone recommend a retailer in the east TN AO? I placed an order at Graf's on Jan 1st and it still hasn't arrived. I suppose they are that far behind. I would like to find someone I can deal with regularly that isn't too far from home in Jefferson County.
  13. I have three Crossbreed Supertuck holsters and I am continuing to add more to the collection for each side arm that I own. Blackhawk has some good molded holsters in paddle or belt loop style. I like the serpa fairly well. Blade tech is ok, perhaps not the greatest, but functionally sound. My wife's FN-9 came with one and it seems solid for a belt holster. I can't speak for their paddle style holsters. Much of it can be narrowed down by how much you are willing to spend.
  14. I drove down from the other side of Knoxville with my wife and 14 year old son. I was very happy to have been in attendance and I feel that it went well. Moreover, I was extremely happy that my son participated and was a part of actively expressing his rights and being a part of the American governmental process. I think it was probably a better lesson in government than he will ever get in school. Kudos to the organizers and speakers! I look forward to the next event!
  15. Greetings from about 20 miles east of Knoxville in Jefferson County. I'm am primarily into sidearms but also own hunting and defensive long arms. Looking to get involved in IDPA eventually. I'm a currently serving Sergeant First Class in the TN Army National Guard as well as a full time employee of the Guard. I look forward to interacting with the membership as well as getting some good advice as I have recently purchased my first reloading press and (if my supplies ever arrive) will begin loading in all the popular hand gun calibers. Cheers.
