I can't think of anything that would be truly fitting for this, but nailing their family jewels to a piece of wood sounds OK... These kids have lost their freaking minds!!

Where can I get some good earplugs? Oh, never mind I'll just use my Sig P220 on one side, that ought to do it...

The Rabbi is right, if you do not intend on making a profit from guns sales, they will not give you an FFL. I have been dealing with the ATF for the past couple of years since I received my FFL, and I remember the investigator asking me in my interview if I planned to have a shop and sell for profit. I have several local Chattanooga ATF investigators who come by the shop and even buy from me. I have heard the stories from other FFL's, even one who is in the same plaza with me and runs a pawn shop, about how bad the ATF is. They just come in and stomp on your rights and do whatever they want. I have never experienced this. I only have a small shop and only run about 400 firearms transactions a year, so maybe I am very small on their radar. The agents and investigators I have had experience with have always been good to deal with. I am not saying that they can't be Butt Heads, but I have not had them be that way to me. I would go ahead and fill out the application and wait. If I am not mistaken, if they turn you down you will get the Application Fee back. So what do you have to lose except a little time and fingerprints? Here in Bradley county, Cleveland TN, there are several FFL's that operate from their home and they are not zoned "Commercial". I was turned down for my FFL at my home because I am zoned "Farming, Agriculture & Residential". But several dealers I know have them in their homes and they live in a different part of the county I do.

Discussion about PINK firearms and their popularity

I have women asking for Pink Guns all the time. Like or not, they will be with us for awhile. -
It is nothing but a real pain in the butt. Once you have your application just follow the directions to the "T". You will fill out 3 applications, if I remember correctly. You will have to have pictures of yourself to attach to the app in the appropriate place, 4 or 5 fingerprint cards that must be taken and signed by law enforcement etc..... The ATF will allow you to have an FFL from your home. Bear in mind that your county may not. The ATF will check with your zoning commissioner to see if they have a problem with it. You may also have to pay for a local background check from your county sherriff. When I first opened up the county sheriff looked at my app and asked me what I wanted him to do with it? When I moved my shop to another county it was a different story. The ATF will come and do an interview with you and go over the different laws and things. No big deal just a few hours of listening to them talk. The ATF will not allow you to have an FFL if you are just a collector, or just want to sell some guns at gun shows. But some of this is spelled out in the application. All in all the biggest pain is all the paperwork you have to keep track of after you get the FFL. All in all the process is just sometimes long and boring. No big deal and I don't know why people pay $50 for a package to help them fill out the application. With your application comes all the instructions you need. If you need any help feel free to contact me. skip@skipsfirearms.com And good luck......

Law on carrying home/car/business?
skipsfirearms replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Fall Guy, I guess we agree then?!?!?!? From my original post: If you do not have a TN Handgun Carry Permit you cannot have the ammunition "Easily Accessible" to you in a vehicle. Which basically means it is a good idea to seperate the ammo from the gun by putting one or the other in the trunk. -
If you wanted to email me a list of the firearms, I can fax it to the TBI and they will check the serials for me. I also have police in the shop all the time and they will usually do it for me too. No Charge....

Then can the "Law By Skip" exempt me from having to follow stupid rules???? Just Kidding.....Maybe!

Law on carrying home/car/business?
skipsfirearms replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As I said above my interepretation about employer/employee was just how I read it. It does not say that in any of the text. I am hoping that they will interpret it to be that way as I am 100% for carrying a handgun in your car on any property no matter who owns it. Just like the fact that you can have a gun in your car on school property, but you can't touch it. To me it goes back to the fact that your car is personal property and it protected as such. I don't believe having a gun in your car will ever add to the crime rate nor cause more shooting deaths at you place of business. I apologize if it sounded as though I was saying that this new amendment will allow you to carry on your employers property, I was just rambling and hoping at the same time. -

If you do not have a TN Handgun Carry Permit you cannot have the ammunition "Easily Accessible" to you in a vehicle. Which basically means it is a good idea to seperate the ammo from the gun by putting one or the other in the trunk. You can, without a permit carry a handgun within your "Business" if you are the owner. You cannot allow your employees to carry, only the owner. I know this one for sure because I checked with the ATF and the TBI about allowing employees to carry handguns in my shop even though they did not have a permit; I was told only the owner can carry in his/her business. Unless of course your employees have the TN Carry Permit. You can carry your handgun in your home with or without a permit. In TN you can have your firearm anywhere you have a legal right to be. Of course only if you have a TN Carry Permit. And then there are more places that won't let you than will let you. If you have your carry permit in TN you can have your handgun cocked and locked while in your vehicle. HB2632 says that we do not commit the crime of "Intent To Go Armed" as long as we have the TN Permit. The fact that the Castle Doctrine states we can carry anywhere we have a "Legal Right" to be, you can carry inside your car or inside your buddies car. You can also carry inside your buddies house, etc. You can download the .PDF file of the TN Castle doctrine below. You should definately read it. Here is a paste from TN State Legislature website: HB2632 by DeBerry JFirearms and Ammunition - Clarifies that a person does not commit offense of carrying firearm with intent to go armed if person has legal authorization, such as a handgun carry permit, to do so. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13 and Title 40, Chapter 35. Bill HB3509, See Link Below, which passed amended the TN Castle doctrine to include "Businesses". I read this to mean even your employer cannot fire you for having a firearm in your vehicle on their property. Which as we know there are many employers who have policies that do not allow you to have firearms in your vehicle for any reason. Don't quote me on that since I am not a lawyer. I have an acquaintance who is a lawyer in Cookeville and he is also a TN State Representative. He says that the right to carry in a BAR is coming. He said it will pass very soon. Take that with a grain of salt. See this .PDF file below to read the new amended TN Castle Doctrine. http://www.legislature.state.tn.us/bills/currentga/BILL/HB3509.pdf) -
I think Price G uses a fiber front sight on his Glock. He said it really improved his shooting when he started using it. Maybe ask him what he thinks?

More first-person-shooter IDPA footage
skipsfirearms replied to MemphisMechanic's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Great Vids. Does anyone have one of those "On Pistol" Cameras? That would be a really cool video.... I think they are about $3oo or so not counting the DVR. I might get one and try it out. -
I am right eye dominant but keep both eyes open when I shoot. I started learning the "Both Eyes Open" technique by partially closing my left eye. Soon I was able to keep it completely open and my shooting did improve. But if you shoot well one way or the other, then you should probably develop the skill that works for you.
