  1. Kinda late for that, isn't it?
  2. I'll toss in the Beretta Serie 80 .380s. I have an 84BB and an 85BB. The 84 is a double stack and fits my hand so I shoot it better. BBs have a safety. Later models have a decocker. Ala Burger King, have it your way. Light Al frames make them easy to carry. Midsize so they conceal well. Too big for a pocket (XSP for that), though.
  3. I have a Valkyrie in .45. Wonderful pistol. Hard to miss with it. I would like a double stack 9 that's small-ish and light to avoid carrying a second mag. And I very much want to stay with cocked and locked so I don't have to think "which one do I have?"
  4. Anybody know if the DWX is more than vaporware? I'm about to give up. Is there an aluminum frame CZ 9mm without a decocker safety? It will surely save me money.
  5. LOL! I want one, too!!!
  6. I have as gun magnet in my RV, near the head of the bed to hold my Colt at night.
  7. You first.
  8. Also, the bore is low, so muzzle flip is visibly less, even with a girl shooting it.
  9. The patina is great, even the faux patina on the trigger guard, if I'd earned it. Still has a Glock trigger and no safety. Wanted to reward Glock's innovation, but gave up after the second one. Bulging cases from my 22 did not instill confidence, either.
  10. I bought one and had to send it back. After I got it back, it has been excellent. I'd like another one. It IS a PITA to disassemble/reassemble to clean.
  11. So, now that is has passed the House and Senate, 2hat does the new law do to my HCP? How will I get reciprocity in states without permit less carry laws? Right now, my HCP covers me in most states but the blue coastal ones.
  12. I put in a bunch of these shelters at work before I retired. We used a 2-piece design, like a giant septic tank for 14 people with a door in each end. Make your doors open inward. Have 2 exits, on different sides, even if one is a 2' x 2' escape hatch. The doors should have 2 bars at 1/3rd points. You can build the top by making a ledge with a half-size 8" or 10" block for the last row. Use corrugated metal floor decking as a base and pour the lid in place. Tie rebar on a 10 to 12” grid and down into to the walls with a minimum of 3' lap splice. I'd use #3. I'd make the top 6" thick, so size the corrugated metal for that, or support well from the bottom until it cures.
  13. It will be considered primarily for EDC, but who knows, it might kill a can or 3. That was the reason for the weight limit. At 34 oz, I'll just carry one of my 1911s. Currently have plenty of 9mm for practice because of the FX-9 PCC. NOBODY ever has too much money, but I'll get by. Next month I'm down to a mortgage. Night vision, huh?
  14. I've decided to spend my stimulus check on a 9mm and ammo, but which one? I'd like a lighter compact with about a dozen rounds capacity, under 25 oz., Condition 1 carry is a big plus, polymer frames are OK, some striker-fired are tolerable, had 2 Glocks (and 2 too many), but I have a carbine that uses Glock mags, so a 19, if cheap might get it. I like the looks of a CZ 2075 RAMI, but can't find one to handle. What do you recommend?
  15. I put these and a Vortex SPARC II on my FX-9. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0182VADPU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  16. I think it looks awful.
  17. Do nothing. The handgun is on loan for the next 70 years and then becomes an estate transfer. From the ATFE web page above, this is legal. Don't go looking to wake the bear. One day that might be the only gun you get to keep.
  18. My EDC is a Colt Mustang. I also have a DW Valkyrie and an OACP I occasionally carry. I use excellent leather from Sparks and Tucker. I have both IWB & OWB, but I think OWB is the way to carry even lightweight 1911s. The weight has less effect with OWB.

    .38 super???

I'd buy it. .38 Super runs about the same speed and muzzle energy as a .357 in some loading and comes in a 1911 package. Call DW, but as stated, you can likely have a 9mm barrel fitted and have a dual caliber gun.
  20. NOOOOOOOO!!!! Never do that! There is no registration in TN and you never want it. A bill of sale is enough and is not required. Your guns will be confiscated soon enough, don't make it easy. You will only have to prove a gun is yours if it is reported stolen by someone else.
  21. Look at and add up all the power demand from all the stuff you want to power. Assign 150% for the microwave. Motor starts require AT LEAST 2x the running load. There are 746 watts/horsepower. Assume a freezer and fridge WILL start at the same time. You can control when the lights, microwave runs and maybe the furnace fan, but not likely the rest. So, if you have a 1/2 HP furnace you'll need 750+ watts to start the fan if you have gas heat. Look at your fridge but expect 800 to 850 watts to start it. Same for the freezer. Add a couple hundred watts for lights, at least that for the TV or radio/stereo for entertainment. And up to 1800 watts for the microwave, a device you'll want in an outage. Add 1500 watts for each electric space heater. It's easy to get to 3500 watts and that has been an effective size for me over several years. I have a Powerboss 3500/5250 watt now (check Wal-Mart.com). It's a B&S brand. A Briggs engine will sit for years with preserved fuel and start. I have a Honda powered lawnmower. No confidence it will start; for the first 3 years, I have sprayed it with WD-40 to start it. In the '93 blizzard, we were without power for 5 days. You should plan on 5 days of fuel at the average power consumption you expect to see. Should the SHTF, you can siphon gas from the cars and motorcycles after that. Use the Briggs 2-year preservative.
  22. Protac 1AAA https://tacticalgear.com/streamlight-protac-1aaa
  23. ROTFL! I have handled one, at The Outpost. I had expected it would be unpleasant to shoot. Lots of nice semis for the same price. Prolly get another XSP for the polished up price. I was thinking about it as a boot Gun handy to get when driving.
  24. Can't account for my fascination with retrievers. Bond Arms' look great but also look stupid expensive. Could buy a pocket Sig or Colt for that. The other choices have been $100 - $125 and look suspect. Well, now Bond has released the Goldilocks Rough series for ~$260. I searched and found nothing about shooting the little beast. How rough is the recoil of the .45/.410? I like 1911 .45s, I don't mind .41 Mag with the right grip shape or a Contender in 7-30 Waters, but draw the line below .30-30.
  25. I'll second Bud's Gun Shop!
