  1. We use Encompass but I didn't see any rider options for firearms. I'll double check but their primary coverage is only for theft...so fire, tornado, etc. so they probably don't offer much. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  2. One is an original (lower at least) Colt 1911, government issued...the other a Remington 1903 with all original parts. Guessing when combined, a min of $1500, max $4,500. The notarized statement is a good idea. I'll bring that up, thanks. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. Yes, they use the ArmsCare Plus plan for this (which is the one I was interested in), and require proof of ownership, including the statement regarding a gift or inheritance. I may reach out to them and define what their statement must consist of, and whether or not I have enough information to prove that. Thanks Omega.
  4. I searched for this topic but came up with nothing, so if you know of another thread and can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Issue (I'll keep it as brief as possible): Estranged father-in-law passed last year. My wife was his only daughter (he was not married and had no other children.) He lived with his 92 year old mother and owned no real property (house/car/stocks) When he passed, we gave most of his belongings to Goodwill - mostly clothes, some furniture. There were a few firearms that may be worth anywhere from $2,000-$4,000. There was no will, trust, or instructions for his belongings, and due to no real property, there was no probate or debts to settle. My wife knows I'm a "firearm enthusiast", or as she affectionately calls it "a gun nut", so she said to take the firearms. In addition to these, I have a nice collection myself worth more than my homeowner's insurance and standard NRA benefit($2,500) would cover so I have been looking at additional options to cover the remaining value. Most companies I've looked at require specific information to prove ownership, including either a receipt, name and number where purchased or statement regarding a gift or inheritance. Question: Based on the info above, how would I go about proving ownership of these firearms for insurance purposes if a claim were to be filed? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  5. After watching the first Terminator movie I went out and bought a phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range. Couldn't help it. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  6. Well it arrived today. Laser definitely needed some adjusting, but all in all, it's a solid piece. Looking forward to taking the wife out with it. I'll let you know what I think after firing it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for all the responses. I'll let you know how the wife takes to it. If she hates it, I'll just grab an ankle holster and use it as a secondary EDC. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  8. Just ordered an MP Bodyguard revolver to help get the wife into shooting. Anyone here have experience with this wheel gun? I have a S&W model 15 that's treated me well, but the bodyguard is a shorter barrel and has some polymer in it.

  10. You win this thread, Sir. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  11. You will need to break in the bolt though. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  12. I have the .308 with laminate stock. Tossed an AimSport scout scope on it and a new brake. Love it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks Ramjo.   I checked recently sold auctions of the same model and condition and this was around the ballpark they have been going for. I also thought it would be worth more.   If they don't sell within a week or so, I'll just grab another safe to toss them in and see if their value goes up in time.
  14. I just posted the two High Standard pistols in the Classifieds section in case anyone is interested: Sport King Derringer
  15. All great information guys, thanks a lot. I have been doing some research as well and will be keeping the Colt, Remington and Smith & Wesson.   The two Hi Standards (Derringer and Sport King) will be posted in the Classifieds once I get some better pictures and have a cousin of that side of the family who indicated the Stevens was their Grandpa's before it was my father-in-laws, so I wanted that to stay in their family.   I'll post links to the classifieds once the other two are posted.
  16. Thank you all for the information and advice. I'm going to get some more detailed pictures of the 1911 and 1903 and possibly take it to a local shop to have an expert confirm whether all the parts are original and give me an idea of the condition these would be considered.   If I post them to the classifieds, I'll let you know.
  17. Hey guys, My father-in-law just passed away suddenly today. We were over at the house trying to find documents related to life insurance, accounts and a will. While searching, I found his collection of firearms and wanted to get your collective opinions on possible values of the items in the event I were to sell them. Personally, I would like to keep them all, but he did not have any assets (the home isn't his, no auto, no savings, no investments and it looks like no life insurance), so I'm trying to find a way to pay for the funeral and arrangements. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. There are two I believe are gems (An old S&W revolver and a U.S. Army issued Colt .45 1911). Based on the feedback and info I find in researching, these will likely be moved over to the classifieds section by the end of the week. Stevens 12 GA Side-By-Side Model 5100. (There appears to be some kind of paint/talcum powder on it. Needs a good cleaning for sure.) Apologies for the random rotations - updated in photobucket, but the images retained their original direction/layout:

  21. HCP holders also know the laws regarding blood alcohol content while carrying...so having alcohol at an event doesn't mean people who are carrying are going to get drunk. Dumb assumption on the oppositions part.
  22. This is one of the tragedies of the Bush & Cheney legacy - they expanded the reach and power of the federal government and executive branch so much in their 8 years, that it was easy for B. Hueissein Obama to just come in and flex his muscle.

  24. I'm in the same boat. With this other one costing about the same, I'll stick with the gunfighter.
  25. How much did this cost? I shoot rifles lefty so I have to get ambi charging handles. Looked at the raptor but the price was to high. Ended up with the Bravo Company Gunfighter ambi. Ran about $65 which was still high but bearable. Still have 2 builds in need of CH's so this might work if the price is right.
