Had a scare last night...
Monkeyman2500 replied to wadejjet's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Got one word for you, DOGS. I know, not everyone can have one, or in our case a bunch, but they are great for letting you know what's up. I couldn't sleep without them. With your situation I definitely think you did the right thing. -

Hand To Hand Self Defense Training?
Monkeyman2500 replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You have a beard? Well heck there's nothing to worry about then. Your part of the club. Even if something happens another guy with a beard will immediately show up and save your a##. -
Hand To Hand Self Defense Training?
Monkeyman2500 replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I don't go to bars and if I do they are small and quiet. I didn't think about a game though. Anytime there's drunks around there's a potential for a fight. If I was in a situation I would do everything to avoid confrontation and alert an authority. I literally never have to deal with that because of my size. Even the biggest drunk roidhead out there would have a hard time, but there is a difference between trying to go toe to toe and trying to survive. I tell the wife a lot there are many very weak points on the human body. Eyes, ears, throat, nose, balls, you know the rest. When I used to fight I threw punches to knock out or subdue an opponent and win the fight. If I'm trying to survive an attack I'm trying to rip off an ear, break a collerbone, or poke an eye out. There are some good classes out there to take but I think most of them are geared towards fighting and not defense, but still better than none at all. -
Hand To Hand Self Defense Training?

I kind of view fighting as a young mans game. It dosent hurt to improve your self both physically and mentally for an attack though. I think it would be more benifical to train against a knife or other weapon too. As far as MMA guys go I trained with a few back in the day, most of the guys are only going to attack when prevoked. It's been a while but I only knew those types to get in bar fights, and even then only when provoked. I don't worry myself even though Im a big guy and have fought several times, I'm probably not going to do anything unless they mess with the old lady. And if I saw a regular joe getting a beat down I will definitely step in. Im much more afraid of a knife to the back or gun to the head sort of thing. -
I've run a lot of the Prvi with no problems. Also had a little of the Golden Bear but that was a while back and didn't shoot much of it.

How would you react? OUTRAGEOUS!!
Monkeyman2500 replied to KaNuckles's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well this is disturbing, and in Texas. I'm mean I could see a sombrero, but a burqa, really? -
Ah yes, good buy. Like others have said it can get addictive. It's my fovorite gun ever.

Joe Biden gun control solution: buy a shotgun,
Monkeyman2500 replied to vontar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
OMG, I keep telling the wife I need a shotgun. Now's my chance. -
At a time like this they need to make a stronger stance like others are doing. These company's are taking big risks for our rights. Armalite should be ashamed, just afraid to lose a buck.

Is talking to anti-gun people a waste of time?
Monkeyman2500 replied to daddyo's topic in General Chat
Used to have this old manager that would spew all these BS lefty ideas, he loved movie stars especially sean penn, so I would just listen and nod. That night I would do research on the bs and find all the real info and then print it all off real nice. The next day I would bring it all to him and just watch him read it and then sit there and look at me funny. After eight or so times he would never say things around me again. I just hope he got it. -
When standing your ground, how far should you go?
Monkeyman2500 replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't know that I agree he was wrong. He didn't try to stop the guy, just followed. What if the robber had decided to just do it again or carjack someone and shoot them in the process. I think it's a big risk, dont know if I would have done the same. I think this world is coming to a point that fighting back against these low life's that are taking over might not be a bad thing. And besides I'm a Chef and he's a cook, God bless his dirty grubby, kitchen rat a##. -
Hmmm I always thought he was a stand up guy. Hard core conservative. Was I wrong? Does he have a point on keeping them open? It dosent bother me but I have no kids, a wife that shoots a .45 better than me, and five dogs including pit bulls. But maybe these should be sealed because we have obviously already passed background checks.

I just got the firearms trade offer of a life time...
Monkeyman2500 replied to Spots's topic in General Chat
Yep a lot of people regretting paying 1000+ too much for things. I will only deal on TGO for a while with older members, just had a great trade with a member. Great guy, we both got what we wanted, and I passed along part of the deal to another good guy. It's really gonna hurt these people when they realize their 2000 dollar AR is worth 800. -

If we have liberal allies......
Monkeyman2500 replied to Will Carry's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If we use our heads and don't be argumentive jackholes, we can get some of the leftys to realize the truth. You can't change them overnight, but with calm, cool, collective almost reluctant fact exsposure some can wake up. Some never will. But I got two just tonight ready to buy there first handguns. The need to buy will most likely come from a threat, but once the freedom is realized one will be hard pressed to give it up. -
I lived in Cookeville for 10 yrs. when we moved there it was nice and country. Has become pretty getto and trashy since then. No offense Cookeville my moms still there. If you want more country try east Tenn. Knoxville and beyond. If you want to be in a nice city I love Nashville. Been here 15yrs. South Nashville near Brentwood is nice. East Nashville is very trendy and up and coming. Going north around Greenbriar is nice and country. But in the end just head toward east of Memphis you'll like what you find.

I found a bomb disposal techs bag at a army surplus store. Bout 30 bucks. Holds everything and more. I can carry two pistols, ear and eye protection, several mags, and enough tools to build another gun. It's super sturdy and looks like a regular back pack.

One man Elvis Presley carried two six shooters to Nixon at the white house. Don't even think they checked them. Elvis was the man!!

Try some of the other small batch stuff. Much better. On the cheap I like Four Roses single barrel it's around 30 bucks.
