  1. I agree. Just get you a fancy web site, undercut their pricing a little, and you'll never have to leave the house! :)
  2. Also when it comes to knives in a professional kitchen the time you really want a nice one is when cutting vegetables. That's when you really tell a difference. I remember one of my head chefs used to have a gazpacho recipe that called for about three gallons of very finely diced veg. Chopping all that up took forever. I used to hate making that one.
  3. I had to look up those Old Hickory knives, they look like a great deal if buying new. I have to agree if buying for regular home use, most any will do, especially if on sale. After looking at the OH knives I don't think you could find a much better deal on a good kitchen knife. I wouldn't hesitate to use one of those to butcher meat in restaurant.
  4. No problem. If I was to get another I may go with the canted model. I really like the easy on and off ability of this one.
  5. That's some nice work your doing there!
  6. Hey, tackles are an important position! Of course I may be a bit partial. But seriously it's painful being a Titans fan. I don't watch much sports either but I root for my home team, and it hurts.
  7. If any of you want a great kitchen knife, this is one of the best I have found. It is a Dexter made between probably 1950 to 1980. It is carbon steel, easy to sharpen and feels great in the hand. 10" long. I picked this up for free when I bought a used table. You should be able to get one at a flee market or such cheep. I had to clean it up a bit but it is as good as my old Japanese blade I used at work. I absolutely love this knife and use it a lot.
  8. By the way that photo is with the 26. It sticks out 1/4 " more with the 29.
  9. Does not dig in at hip. It rides low. I like that because of the spare tire factor. Lol. I like it and it works for the 29 and 26.
  10. I've been in the restaurant biz for 17yrs. Was a chef the last 7. I've noticed in the last several years with the number of kids growing wanting to get in the business, the number of high dollar custom knife makers coming around. I agree with you guys these knives are not worth the price. They are really not that nice either. There are some very nice hand made Japanese knives out there called Honyaki, that if you use a knife for a living, are worth it. But for $800 you can get a knife that is hand forged, shaped and sharpened by a master knife maker. I don't think I would want to use the knife it showed in that article more than a minute, much less 3,4,5 hours of cutting.
  11. Send it in to get fixed. That's about the only sensible solution. It sucks but I bet they fix it. Just a hassle.
  12. Well since I got a Glock 29 for my birthday, I needed a new holster. I've had great luck with some cheeper kydex eBay holsters so here's my newest one. Came from Badger Concealment. His store is badgerconcealment663. It came usps in about four days. I have to say I love it. With the beefy slide Glocks I like a kydex holster. It is nice and snug and fits the gun perfect. I've had trouble finding holsters I like because I'm a larger fellow. It makes the gun sit a little low, and I like that. Hides it perfect and even works for my 26. All in all great little holster and good quality. I'll buy another for sure.
  13. Looks great! Very clean, and nice lines.
  14. You may also want to try a cheeper gun just to see if you like it. I haven't ever had a caliber I just didn't like but you never know. I haven't tried my 29 yet but I doubt caliber will make a difference. I would say try a 29 but if you don't lke a glock fit then maybe the RIA just to try it. I know it sucks to not like the fit of a popular gun, I just can't make myself like any revolver. I've had a few and love everything about them but how they fit in my hand. And if you stick with a .45 1911, witch is also my favorite, go get that commando he's got in Mt Juliet. That thing is sexy.
  15. This is something I definitely DID NOT need to know. Check out that little colt commando he got on there. It's not a 10, but it's pretty cool.
  16. Aw man should have kept quit on this one. The stories these guys are gonna make up should be good. :)
  17. This is certainly great news, and very surprising as well. I didnt think there was a snowballs chance of it passing. Although I still love the worry for the little school children from licensed law abiding citizens. This is a big step for Tennesse and I think it sends an important message to the rest of the country. Now do I suck it up and send ol Haslam a thank you letter. :)
  18. Good lookin piece!
  19. Now that's funny.
  20. Nice! I hear they do great work. I bet it will be a great piece.
  21. Yes she is! :)
  22. Well wife came home late last night. I had a sneaking suspicion she was buying me a gift. Low and behold she got me a Glock 29. Ever since reading TGO David's post about 10mm underwood I've been thinking about getting one. I've really enjoyed my 26 so I thought a 29 would be a good fit. So far I love it. Gen 4 feels great in my hand and point perfect. Now to pick up some ammo and have a little range time!
  23. That's amazing! The grain is incredible, and the build looks magnificent! Great work, and I bet it's a blast to shoot.
  24. Nice work!
